after way too long, i finally got my x lifted. i went with the 3" package from prg, and would highly recommned this to anyone wanting to lift a 2nd gen. here's everything that went on my baby, pics are below-

Suspension:
radflo coilovers on the front
prg uca's
deaver mini-packs in the rear
bilstein 5125's in the rear

Wheels
American Eagle Offroad Alloys, Series 140
17" wheel
6x4.5 bolt circle
4mm backspacing

Tires
Toyo Open Country MT's, 295/70/R17's

Very minor inner plastic trimmed on the fender, no rubbing anymore

the best part, other than the fact the it looks freakin awesome, is that she still fits in the garage!

here's all the pics, enjoy!

thanks for all the comments. apparently i'm not the only one who likes the x a whole lot better lifted- my pup harely didn't take too long to figure out where all the shade was while i was outside workin in the garage today- guess it's a lot easier for her to get underneath now!

Question, I just got Toyo Open Country M/T's two days ago, and I'm getting a tire pressure sensor warning. It looks like the pressure in my tires are fluctuating (due to temp) at different intervals. Is this happening to your rig as well?

it hasn't gone off yet, i'm actually kind of surprised because i was expecting it to. however, my abs and slip lights are on- so i'm gonna have to go the dealer to get that cleared since the scanguage won't read it, and all the local autozones and what not can only clear check engine lights apparently (i spent a good 2 hours riding around to all of them today since the service dept was closed at the local dealer) the really weird thing is that one of my tires doesn't even have the tpms sensor on it at the moment, it broke during the install so i have to order a new one for it, and the light still isn't coming on. i can't complain though, i hate those things and would rather not have to see the darn light all the time

I'll ask a practical question - how much did it end up costing you (less wheels and tires)? And did you notice any drop in MPG's?
Did you buy components separately or did you get a kit? And last Q - where did you get all that stuff from?
Thanks, I had my question fix for today :)

i got the kit from greg at prg- www.prgproducts.com

the kit runs for $1599, but it's some real top notch stuff, definitely worth more than its price. the rims and tires weren't all that cheap either, but i've been saving for this for quite a long time. i lost about 2-3 mpg overall, so it's not horrible. if i didn't go with mud terrains the mpg would probably be a little better, but i love the way the tires look and i figured if i was going to spend the money on it i was going to get everything i wanted.

that truly looks awesome. Was there much cutting that needed done? Want to do something similar but worried about the cutting.

not too much cutting at all. there's alot of extra plastic in the fender well that doesn't need to be there. you could still run a 33, just a smaller size like a 285 or a 275 and probably not need to do any cutting at all.

Have you been wheeling with those tires yet? They look like they'll grip anything. :)

unfortunately, no i haven't. since i've gotten that lift on the dealer has had my x more than i have actually. i've had almost my entire drive train replaced, not due to the lift, it pretty much just went. i got it back 2 days ago, but now i've got some noises from the front end suspension that i have to have looked at tonight. on top of that, my wedding is coming up in about a month and we're getting married about 600 miles away from where we live, so we've been quite busy planning that. i don't think she'll get the chance to see any dirt until after the wedding in october. but from what i've been told about people with the same tires, yeah, they're pretty unstoppable

Definitely love these tires...but expensive though.

x2...they definitely were not cheap....even with the amount my install guy knocked off of them for me

Yeah super nice.. wow... that reaaaaly looks good! Wheres the install pics?

Ive been digging around for suspension install's and feedbacks on gen 2's... I'll be starting a thread in the future for my 2006 gen 2.. It should be interesting.. It's a 2wd, it most likely will never see a real trail, just camping and towing.. It's a daily driver.. I'm coming from driving a mustang.. I want to get a little more performance, stiffer, better pavement action, and be-able to put some weight in it/towing without it squatting like my golden retriever taking a dump. AND I also wouldnt mind it being lifted a bit.. yeah.. im looking for an interesting mix..

Is that lift still working out well for you? I'm about to lift my 2006 Xterra and the top choice at this point is the same kit you used. I want to do some offroading with my truck, but still be able to drive it around town and tow a few things in the future.

06-25-2010, 11:42 AM
sorry, i don't get on the forum all that much anymore...i've got a lot going on in my life and am quite busy....

all that aside, the kit is working out spectacular. i've had the kit on for well over a year now- it's great. i've had zero problems with it. i'm active duty military, and travel quite a lot. i've driven across the country twice with the kit on and hauled a trailer while doing it. around town, my x rides just as well as my wife's bone stock 08. and, as an added bonus, it still fits in the garage.

awesome! I ordered the kit and am having it sent to my buddy's house in MD. I'll be driving back to CO with it (possibly with a trailer) in a few weeks, so it's good to hear that it's working well for you.
