I have an Xterra SE 2001 4x4 with std 255/65R16 tires. I'd like to get a more aggressive all terrain tire (IE Goodyear MT/R type). These only seem to come in 255/70R16. Typically the response I get from service centers, is to stay with the factory specied size. Has anyone tried changing up on the Aspect ratio.....any recommendations? :confused:

It should work fine. I have a 02 SE 4x4 SuperCharged that has the 17's on it. I went from the 265/65/17 to a 275/65/17. The guy at TireRack tried to get me to go to a 265/70/17, but there wasnt a tire in that size like I wanted. I bought the Sumitomo HTR Sport A/T. They have the best rating and was only $89.00 a piece.

Are you planning on wheel'n you X?? I'm running 285/70/16 on my '01. There are some that are running bigger tires. So you can go as big as you want, but there are certain things that you have to do in order to go bigger.
