Look into a PML. All it requires is new lift shackles in the rear. They will run you about $70 and then for the front, just crank your torsion bars to get the lift in the front. It will give you about 1.5" of lift.

There is a how-to in the DIY section on adjusting your torsion bars.

Check with AC (4x4parts.com) or Calmini for your lift shackles. I prefer the AC's over Calmini. They are a beefier design.

U know we should make a thread and lock it.. it should have links to the other threads that include info for the suspension so we dont have to keep typing this out lol. wheneever makes a thread about this..we just give them the link

I say the cheapest if s BL because no alignment is necessary as with the PML.. Most dont get an alignment but it is recommended...

The BL is a BIG job though. A PML can be done in the driveway with basic hand tools and a couple beers. ;)

The BL only needs basic tools.. Yeah the PML is alot easier, but a BL really isnt that hard...

After helping with 4 BL's and several PML's, I don't enjoy body lifts. They are tedious and difficult, and NEVER does everything go as planned. But I'll do a PML any day of the week. Easy as pie.

As long as the BL guy does his part they usually go smooth

the only real hard part was re-drilling my rear bumper, everything else was easy for me.. I pretty much did mine by myself.. my helper was my GF and she was more interested in tanning than helping haha

When I did my BL, by the time I got to some of the more difficult things, my buddies were so drunk they were pretty much useless anyways. But I'll take a PML install over a BL anyday. Especially after doing a 3" BL on a Tacoma. That was a friggin' nightmare. Even more so since the guy who owned the Taco was an engineer and refused to listen to me and tried to do everything by the instructions and we all know how useful BL instructions are.

I'll take a 45 minute install for a PML versus 4 to 6 hours for a BL anyday of the week.

I am going to do this to my X....I couldn't find a write up on this.
I know there is one here somewhere....but the search button won't find shit on here these days. Drake....can you send me the link to the parts I need...
and tell me what bolts I need to buy from Lowe's to replace the ones that do not fit. I am doing the shocks too.....What should I buy?

Here is the link to the lift shackles:

They will come with all of the bolts you need so you won't have to buy anything else. I think JDubbau02 did a write-up on the shackles but I could be wrong. I could probably whip one up over the weekend.

As for shocks, Rancho is a good option for the budget but as you've seen on numerous threads... BILSTEINS! hahaha

I'm running those bumpstops right now. Had them for a few months. Mainly got them to give me a little more clearance for road driving so my UCA's wouldn't bottom out on the road after I did my lift.

I forgot about the bolt issue. Some people drill out the new sleeves but for the bolt that won't fit (I think it's the lower), I re-used my stock bolts and I believe Jason did too and I didn't have any fit problems. As for what everyone else did, can't say for sure but like I said, you should be able to re-use your stock ones without any issues.

Did the bump stops help the clunk sound......when making a sharp turn??
Were they hard to install? I am cheap, I aint paying no one unless I need a new engine or something!

They weren't hard to install but a PITA because the bolt is inside of the UCA and you can only make like a 1/4 turn at best so it takes some time to tighten it up.

Really the only benefit of the lower bumpstops is a 1/4" or so more clearance on the UCA's. They won't do anything for turning clunks.

tina the ultra low bump stops are for the UCA not the turn stops.. which is what you hear when you make the sharp turns.... you need to put some thick grease on the turn stops and it will cure the clunk for about 6 months.....
