I have been trying to throw my brain around here. I am looking at replacing my stock general junk tires with a new set of shoes. I have a 2004 xterra but i want to switch to a all terrain tire. I have two in mind the yokohama a/t and the firestone destination a/t. which one of these would you guys chose. i want a street tire as well as something that can grip in snow and ice. Having a really hard time deciding since tires arent cheap right now these are about the only two options i have were i live. any suggestions or comments on either? thanks all your help is greatly appreciated.

I am putting Yoko's on my daily driver wheels in the next week or so. I looked at the Firestone tires and I like them and haven't read anything about them being a bad tire. I've had Yokohama before and got good mileage out of them on other vehicles so I figure why not try them on my X.

We run Yokohamas on all of our cars and trucks. Everything from my race cars to our suvs to my MR2. I wouldn't run anything else personally. My X still has the stock BFG's (which aren't bad at all btw), but when they wear out I'll change to Yokohama's on it too. I've driven and raced on many different brands over the years, but Yokohama's have always been my favorite. They're what fits me and my driving.

Just my 2 cents.

Both of them will be good tires. I see you mention snow and ice, have you thought about A/Ts rated with the snowflake and the mountain stamp. I think ProComps A/T and the BFG A/T are rated for snow and ice.

i would go with the BFG A/T if i had the money, otherwise i got good deal for some pep boy brand M/T's instead. just go with the yoko's if i had the chose between the 2.

BFG T/A KO's are good, Destinations have had good reviews, and the Geolanders are all very popular. I have also heard good stuff about terra grapplers
