: Ground wire kit
Ehsan 06-20-2008, 10:32 AM take a look at this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JDM-GROUND-WIRE-KIT-240SX-350Z-G35-300ZX-MAXIMA-XTERRA_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33602QQihZ024QQi temZ370060516871QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
its says it can:
Improves throttle response
Improves starting adeptness, response
Reduces fuel consumption
Stabilize Electrical Revolutions which generate more Power, & Torque
Increase Torque through Low and Mid Range Power band
IS THAT POSSIBLE?
aznboihoy03 06-20-2008, 10:35 AM i used to have that kinda thing on my civics before, it actually does some good, but i dont know about all that, that your describing...
Ricer-X 06-20-2008, 10:39 AM ok, the way i understand electricity;
with no additional electronics i doubt it will benefit you at all
if you wire all your extra electronics properly then it also shouldnt help you at all
having more ground capacity than +12v capacity does nothing
if for every +12v wire you run from the + battery terminal you add a new ground wire of equal Ga that grounds anywher but back to the battery itself then you maintained your balance
but when people ground their extra electronics back to the battery, then they havent increased the ground capacity to match the +12v capacity and things begin to run inefficiently

x2 but don't believe its a awesome mod like eBay makes it out to be... I am upgrading my battery cables to 2ga. cables (I think, maybe its 0) and I will volt meter check the ground resistance and upgrade the ground cables as needed to the same size.. If I cant get it to work THEN I will be ordering one of these kits then grounding everything lol..
Can and will are two different things. It all depends on if your existing Grounding is sufficient or not and each one of our vehicles is different. I have the Active Tuning Grounding Kit and here's my experience.
My battery died one night at 1:00am while I was installing my replacement DVD Monitor. I needed to be at work at 7:00am so I ran to Wal-Mart and picked up the only battery they carry that will fit which is made for a stripped base model Titan XE and not supposed to be able to run a fully loaded LE, especially an Armada. So, I was having wierd little electrical glitches and getting ready to get a bigger battery when Active Tuning offered us a Group Buy that I couldn't resist in case it kept me from buying a new $85 battery or having to mess with another crappy OEM one. Well, it solved all the glitches but I noticed no other improvements, especially the claimed performance or MPG advantages.
The following week, I helped Back-n-black install his Active Tuning Grounding Kit on his '07 Titan XE. On his, there was a noticeable improvement in response and consistancy in both acceleration and trans shifting that we could both tell the difference when took turns driving his truck.
So, we theorized that it helps compensate and improve any inefficiencies there might be in our OEM grounding but it will not improve a sufficiently grounded truck. I spent $35 on mine for the Group Buy and it was well worth not having to buy a new battery for me.
Hope that helps, I'd say get to one if it's not too much $$$, it can't hurt but don't expect it to do all those things they say it will, especially supposedly improving MPG. My DVD install gave me more MPG improvement than the Grounding Kit did. ;)
Ehsan 06-20-2008, 11:01 AM wow different views here.. i was thinkin how can that help? MPG IF it does its wont be even 1mpg.... i dont think i need this i was jw...
cbzdel 06-20-2008, 11:03 AM it could do great things for you, you never know it really depends on how well you are grounded..
do you happen to have a volt meter?? you can test it out fairly easy...
wow different views here.. ...
Keep in mind that it's not as much different views as it is different experiences. Each vehicle is electrically different just like each Dell PC is individually different so each vehicle is affected differently by adding sufficient grounding. You can ask 100 Xterra owners who have one installed and they will have 100 different answers because it affected their vehicle uniquely.
Ehsan 06-20-2008, 11:08 AM very tru pops i guess it depends on the applications
aznboihoy03 06-20-2008, 11:27 AM daym, u guys are well educated
Ricer-X 06-20-2008, 11:43 AM taht bc some of us are old, some of us are even older, and then theres peeps like me, who pretends to be old just bc my sc is green, lol
but on the reals, physics and logic are my strong points
cbzdel 06-20-2008, 11:49 AM or some of us have just been working on cars for way to long and have tried just about everything known to man to get more MPG/HP/TQ lol....
aznboihoy03 06-20-2008, 12:11 PM or Some Of Us Have Just Been Working On Cars For Way To Long And Have Tried Just About Everything Known To Man To Get More Mpg/hp/tq Lol....
Lmao!
Ricer-X 06-20-2008, 12:13 PM Turbonator!!!!!
soccerbrace 06-20-2008, 12:28 PM I think that you should upgrade your starter and alternator wires to actually feel the difference.
Most likely this weekend, I am running about $200 worth of wires. The are all O/T and they are going to dual batteries which I am going to locate in the back behind the rear seat. It will do some good. It is kinda like a clogged pipe. But you have to have larger + wires as well as -. By the way, the alternator ground wire does absolutely nothing!

Correct because its grounded to the engine, so upgrading you block to ground will help.. Am I right? That is the way I have always looked at it lol..
Ehsan 06-20-2008, 01:59 PM damn i didnt know grounding was that importatnt
Think of it has running a lantern battery that the - is wired using a lightbulb filament. Copper is expensive so the manufacturers buy the cheapest cables that'll work which are gonna be barely thick enough to get the job done.
