Hey ,
While driving home tonight my service engine soon light came on. I've never had any problems with the X before so I'm a little concerned.:icon_question: I always check my fluids and keep the oil in check every 4000 - 5000 kilometers. Theres approximately 113000 kms on her now, she's a 2002 XE 4x4. Has anyone had anything like this happen? I'd like to hear some feedback so I can discuss this when I bring her in for servicing. Hopefully nothing to major is wrong with her. I did purchase extended warranty with her so hopefully whatever is wrong will be covered.

Thanks

a Check Engine Light can be anything. I would first check to make sure the gas cap is on tight. After that, take it into the dealer if it's still under warranty and have them toss it on a scanner and see what is wrong. If it's out of warranty take it to your local big chain auto parts store and have them scan it for you. They can tell you what the code is and then you can look it up.

Check all your fluids too. I spent an afternoon once trying to make the CEL in my wife's car go away to no avail. She took it to Buick, they pulled a code from it, and determined that the brake fluid was low.

The whole proceedure cost us $75 bux.

So I just got the X back from getting looked at. Turns out the EVAP sensor is broke. $ 140.00 for a new one or $ 40.00 for a second hand one. I'm opting for the second hand one and going to install it myself or at least try to. Either way it'll be a learning experience. Any one have any thoughts on this?

also the littlest of moisture in a electric component will set them off. trust me hit a water hole and mine came on. they coded it it was 480 bucks in 3 sensors. so i took and dryed evry connection had them to reset and it hasnt came on since..

Would the code be P0440? And did the shop say the evap pressure sensor is bad?

That is the Gas Cap.
