: Heated Seats?
cbzdel 06-06-2008, 07:32 AM Anyone add in one of the universal seat heater kits? I am looking into doing it as a summer mod so I have if once the cold sets in. My g/f complains all the time riding in my car that it doesnt have "butt warmers" but I have to admit her car has them and they are nice on cold days...
soccerbrace 06-06-2008, 09:10 AM Skott has done it. I believe he said it cost him $90 or so per seat.
Creepy Cruiser 06-06-2008, 09:12 AM I install them all the time and they're great. I've seen a few cheap made ones out there, but most are good quality. I use the ones from Katzkin. They're pretty easy to install too. Well worth it!
cbzdel 06-06-2008, 09:15 AM got a link for someplace to buy them from?? i cant figure out their site lol..
EDIT: the reason I am thinking about doing this is because I am gonna add some foam to my seats to stiffen them up, along with checking for repairs from that thread about seat repair in the DYI section.. so why not add some warmers why I got it all apart :)
Creepy Cruiser 06-06-2008, 09:34 AM Yep. It's funny though, you can buy them off ebay, cheaper then I can buy them wholsale, lol. Thats where I'm going to start buying them myself. Just make sure they are the carbon fiber type , and I like the ones that have little honeycolmb shapes in them and 3 way round switches, Right around $70-$75 shipped on ebay. I don't like the ones like from summit that have the little off board box.
I'm not recomending this guy for any reason, but this is the style I use, and I've never had one go bad.

there is no problem with these on cloth seats is there?? i dont want the X to go up in flames lol...
Creepy Cruiser 06-06-2008, 09:53 AM Nope, lol, they don't get that hot. The ones in that pic have built in safety cutoffs also. We do them on cloth seats all the time.
cbzdel 06-06-2008, 10:03 AM Sweet thanks!! I am gonna save that link and when it comes time to gut the interior I will put in an order!!
Creepy Cruiser 06-06-2008, 10:03 AM Now, the one I sent you is not the best one for you though, you want that style, but with about 20" long or so pads, not 11" like those ones. You want your whole butt, legs and back to be warm, lol
Creepy Cruiser 06-06-2008, 10:10 AM Here you go, here is a better link. Again, I'm not promoting them, lol, but theses look like the good ones.

cbzdel 06-06-2008, 10:11 AM i didnt even think about that.. that is one thing i DONT like about the ones on my GFs jetta they are like hot spots in the middle of you back and butt, they are not the whole seat at all...
maybe I should get one that massages to :)
i guess I should say this to, I have neoprene seat covers... How does neoprene handle heat, that is one thing I am not sure of...
Creepy Cruiser 06-06-2008, 10:19 AM I see no problem with it at all.
I changed that other link too, to the longer ones, so nobody going through this thread buys the little ones, lol
json3904 06-06-2008, 04:45 PM i was wondering cause they both took me to the same page.. LOL
Creepy Cruiser 06-06-2008, 07:27 PM LOL, the first link I posted, just showed a better picture of the style, but it was for little short ones, lol. I didn't want someone to just read that far and go "I should buy those right now", and end up with something that sucked, lol.
Then they would be like "Creepy you're and idiot" :usuck:, LOL
json3904 06-06-2008, 11:16 PM you have a good point there todd, good looking out.....
Move to Phoenix and you can have heated seats for Free! I want AC seats.
Ehsan 06-07-2008, 10:15 AM OR florida lol...but that really is a good idea.. where would u mount the swithces?
json3904 06-07-2008, 11:23 AM either in tha dash or make a mount for it on the seat....
Skott 06-09-2008, 09:55 PM Jumping in late, but as Soccerbrace said... I had it done in my X. I did it originally for my girlfriend, but I have to admit that they're pretty darn nice! :)
As for switch location, here's where mine were placed:
