Do you collect anything? If so what, and for how long? Do you consider your collection to be unique? Why?

I'm a baseball card nut. I collect mostly memorabilla cards (Cards with Jersey pieces, bats or other game used stuff inserted in them) and have quite an impressive collection... I also have a few rookie cards of some current greats like Derek Jeter, Cal Ripkin Jr. and Randy Johnson.

I mainly collect Flashlights. Since I was a kid I was always fasinated with them. Mag Lights, Pelican, Underwater Kinetics, Princeton Tec, Dive Rite. Mainly just lights for the outdoors and scubadiving. My fiance says that when we get married she's going to put a stop to it so we can afford to have kids.

I also collect the tops of Coke Bottles ( 237ml.) At any given time theres probally 20 -30 of them in the side door slot of the Xterra. There used to be alot more until I had a minor cardiac procedure done in March. My Doctor told me to cut back on the amount of Coke I was drinking cause it wasn't helping with the irregularity of my heart but everything is good now, so I only drink 3 - 4 Coke aweek now.:wink-big:

OMG that's just too freaky! When I was living there in Shreveport I was working at Excalibur.
I haven't really collected any sports cards or comics since the mid 90's or so but I'm a packrat from hell and I don't get rid of anything.

Really? I LOVE Excalibur! But they mainly do comics and anime things now... I like hobby boxes of cards where I have a better shot at getting some memorabilia... and so I end up watching ebay a lot and buying them as I see them.

Used to collect comics. Still have my collection, which is probably in the neighborhood of 1500-2000 books. Have a boatload of $$$ invested in them and if I could ever work up the nerve to sell them, would make a mint.

Interesting story... while I was back in St. Louis over this last Thanksgiving... I was going through my collection (I like to make sure they're holding up), as they're stored at my dad's house. 3 of my best books are Fantastic Four #47-49. Last I priced #47 it was something like $1200. So I did a search on Google and found a forum post, where a guy was selling the same book, in the exact same condition as mine. He was linking to an ebay auction and directing people to that. So I follow the link, find the auction has already closed and the book sold for $17,000. That's right... SEVENTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS.

<sigh>

I really need to sell those books.

Nice Golden Age and Silver Age stuff is hard to beat investment-wise.
They're like land and old muscle cars : There's not gonna be anymore.

Looking at you guys collections I don't feel so bad now that I collect mini/model sport bikes.

My wife made me buy a display case for them. I have about 50 at home and now they are invading my space at work.

The attached model is about 4-5 inches long. )1:12 scale)

Junk...I collect junk.

Well, I collect Pittsburgh Pirate memorabilia.

I collect wizards (though this collection has not grown much over the past few years, I have quite a few pewter, glass, ceramic, plastic, etc wizard figures.

I also have a HUGE collection of Hockey cards. I stopped collecting in the early 90's, but I still have them all. I got many rare cards like a couple Mario Lemieux rookie cards, Gretzky rookie, and Bobby Orr rookie (plus others...those are just my favorite ones).

I also collect paintball guns. I am up over 35 or so. Most of them are old, rare or custom guns. I have probably one of the most complete collections of AGD (Airgun Designs) products anywhere.
