Hi all,
So my bro in law has had his 69 Chevy truck sitting in my yard for about a year now and Im tired of looking at it so I got under there and started poking around. well I found out that there is a chip missing off the lower block were one of the starter bolts screws into. Now it wont screw in all the way so the starter is not secure. Also he doesnt have the piece that broke off either. I am including pics so you can see the problem. I just thought maybe some of you guys might have an idea for how to repair / modify my problem! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You looking for a short term or long term fix?? Could always try JB Weld for a short term...
BTW I suggested a Non-Xterra sub forum a couple weeks back but I am not sure what happened to that idea, maybe this post will push it along lol :)

Hey Kausion, could you possibly re-size the pics to make them a bit smaller? :)
Thanks!

Well preferably long term, I dont want to half ass it as its not even my truck! But thanks for the suggestion. I used JB weld once on my quad, a rock some how hit the quad and actually put a hole in the gearing case. I put a screen mesh for backing and filled the JB weld on top of that and its been good ever since. But Im not sure how I would use it to fix this?

if you wanna use jbweld you need to clean the threads both on the bolt and the hole very well and jbweld the bolt threads to the hole threads
you could also grind a notch and weld a nut in there, and have the nut be your new "bolt hole"
ok chris, ill make the ne section when i get on my break(9:15 central time)

Hey look at this Im all by my self in my very own brand new section!! Other side of the driveway....I like it.
Ha Ha, anyway, thanks for the ideas, If I JB welded the bolt to the hole, then I would not be able to remove it right? That wouldnt work if I ever needed a new starter. The nut idea sounds good, although quite a bit of work.

if you jb welded the bolt it would be harder later on to replace the starter, but it could be done. and we've been talking about adding a new forum for a while Dustin just finally got off his Ass and did it....LOL
