Here are some pics of my new X. No modifications yet, just purchased an IDA-X100 for it though, I'm broke as a joke now and waiting for school to be over so i can get a job and make some money, get a new intake and exhaust for "gas milelage" hahaha. Then onto the suspension.
night shot with my phone, sorry it's blurry

I was just driving around a construction site, not much here but flat.

I'll get some proper pics with a friends camera

Looks good man! Don't worry about pic size... we don't restrict that here. If you can load it... post it.

You said you were looking into an intake and exhaust but low on funds, check out our "How-to, DIY..." section and look into the thread James (Soccerbrace) created on getting the most from your stock intake. It's basically a do-it-yourself intake conversion. And best of all, it's practically free! Gives a good throaty sound and coupled with a K&N drop-in filter, it can give you just as much gains as an aftermarket intake will.

For first timers looking to mod and get the best bang for their buck, I recommend doing a search on these keywords:

PML - Poor Man's Lift (1.5" suspension lift) parts cost about $70
DIY 2" BL - 2" body lift kit you make yourself for about $65

And if you're into off-roading, I recommend picking up an idler arm brace. They are about $30 and simple to install and will really beef up the xterra's notoriously weak steering linkage.

Got some new "paint" for it

Clay makes such good paint. I get a grin looking at it every time, and seeing people look at it.

I haven't gotten the shackles in yet, a bit of a hang up with my rents on that front. But I did take my tow bar off and am in the process of repainting it, pics soon.

im progess pic showing how it looked, i was chiseling the rust away then cleaned it up with a wire disk on a drill
http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk267/Brettr1989/IMG_6446.jpg
and the finished product with rustoleum hammered finish in black, the rusted areas had a lot more texture than the good painted area so its a lot less smooth, but no longer oxidising. also cleaned up some of the welds on the frame that were starting to get rusty.
http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk267/Brettr1989/IMG_6447.jpg
also touched up some spots on the bumper with some semi gloss grey rustoleum, matches pretty well. Also got bored and still had a good battery in the drill so i decided to wirebrush the exhaust tip, i like the finish.

Looks clean! Very nice Brett! I'm dig'n the HU, sound pretty tight?

Brett89
09-06-2008, 03:41 PM
Thanks Drake! Thanks Keyz! I'm still running the stock speakers, but it did sound better than before. The HU is amazing for iPod control though, only gripe is scroll be letter of the artist rather than by "next page" when using the faster scroll, but that's pretty minor. EDIT: Actually you can scroll by artist, I just didn't realise how(real men don't read manuals)

EDIT: After viewing my bank account balance i decided to order a new tow cable as mine had been gnawed in half by something, well I had some money to spend and saw a K&N Drop in filter going for forty bucks so I got that as well, so that should be going in as soon as I get it and hopefully I'll be taking the resonators out.

Just dropped some money down on new speakers all around for the X as my are finally(thank god) deciding to blow. Got some Infinity 6020cs compenents up front with some Alpine SPR-69C 6x9s in the back, all powered by one of those KTP 445 power pack units for Alpine HUs, I'll update with some pictures when I get them as I'm bloody pumped.

Alright, got the tweeters installed finally, and also here's a pic i found on the camera. my friends had some fun with my X while I was away.
http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk267/Brettr1989/DSC00469.jpg
they used two rolls of household stuff, so to get them back, i'm getting an industrial sized roll from Sam's Club.

Feel quite good about how clean it looks, there is a bit of an exposed area when the a pillar starts to curve back, but i'm well pleased with it.

Overall view from the back seat. Feels so weird sitting in the back of a car you usually drive.

LOL for my senior prank i bought 2 rolls of 12" x 6000' rolls of saran wrap from Sam's club for like $15 a piece. my friends and i proceeded to saran wrap almost every single car together in the underclassmen lot on senior skip day. it was fucking epic!! and the class president mentioned it at graduation.. first senior prank in 25 years :D

One of the kids who did it, told me "you better not think of fucking with my car" so I'm going to do a roll of that, not sure if it'll be 6000 ft, but an excessive amount on his car, might leave boxcutters at the bottom layer saying, "to help remove this"

Haha we did about 60 or so cars in the parking lot.. we zig-zagged between them, went around them, and went over and under them, it was awesome! i've still got like 2000' left on one of the rolls LOL
