Club Xterra Business Cards

Yes folks, you heard right. We are going to make CX business cards that will be available to all CX members. Want more members from your area? Slip a card under the wiper blade. Know somebody who drives an X? Give 'em your card. Several of us have tossed this idea about but give credit to X~Terror for kicking it into gear and getting the ball rolling on this one.

But wait... there's a small problem... we don't have a design for the card.

This is where YOU come in!!!

We want you, our fellow brethren, to design the card that is going to represent Club Xterra. This is a contest open to all members to come up with the best design and the winner gets their first order of cards FREE!

Here are the guidelines:

The cards will be full color front and back.

All images must be taken from Club Xterra or from your own personal albums and creative minds. You may not use any photos or slogans from a trademarked/copyrighted media source (i.e. television, magazines, etc.). This includes the Nissan emblem/logo.

There can be no promotions made of other businesses or websites whether directly or indirectly related to Club Xterra.

Here are the content suggestions:

First and foremost we want to stress that Club Xterra is FREE!

We want to emphasize at least 5 key points and benefits of belonging to Club Xterra. Including but not limited to:

CX is non-profit and has no membership fees required in order to join.

Emphasis on the money-saving information available from knowledgeable members for repairs, upgrades and modifications of all types. ***Big emphasis on the repairs.

Image Galleries

We also recommend that there be a place for you to put your CX screenname. This way new members can list you as their referral.

This is just a suggestion on my part, but I would like to see that we emphasize the xterras in general and not modifications. Remember, this is a site devoted to xterra owners. NOT modified xterra owners or offroading. We are open to all types of drivers and all types of xterras.

Below is a sample card created by Json3904 that you may use as an example to understand what we are looking for. This is not a template. Just a basic example.

Again, these are just samples. We want you to be as creative as you want with your designs and using your own words to help us take CX to the top of the online xterra clubs. Because in my opinion... we're already there.

You will be given 4 weeks to create your cards before submitting them. Then there will be a 2 week voting period for the best design.

The winner will get their first order (50 cards) for free courtesy of Ricer-X (Dustin) and will be produced by Axion Photo.

If you have any questions about content or limitations, please feel free to pm one of the moderators or Axion himself and we will do our best to help.

As far as your pictures go there is no limit to
the file size. But try to get me at least 5megapixal shots for the best resolution.

The Qty for cards will be in lots of 50 and 100,
And will be shipped right to your doorstep. They will be printed on semi-gloss stock via laser.
The size were looking into is 3x5 at this time,
VERY IMPORTANT when submiting your designs.

Excellent point! We want to show the variety of members/xterras here. That we aren't specifically for offroad X's or heavily modded xterras.

Big props to jman2000. :thumbup: I'm about to take his idea and run with it.

This thread will be open for replies so that members can share ideas, suggestions and questions with others. If members would like to form a "team" and make the design a group effort, that would great! Say for instance, one member has the software to do great designs and another has the imagination to utilize it; that's a perfect combo right there!

Please keep teams to no more than (4) total members.

For those that form a team, please list all members here in this thread. After 3 weeks, the teams will be locked and no changes can be made.

If the winning design is from a team, I will see that each member gets 50 cards as well.

An email account will be set up soon for all submissions to be sent to. Only the moderators will have access to this account.

So I've got an idea for the CX card, but I don't have the means to do it, what I need is a front picture of a 2nd Gen Xterra, one from a hardcore offroad one, and then a gen 1 stock, i can get the gen 1 picture, and heres a quick thing to give you an idea of what I mean.

The idea is to welcome all Xterras, the gen1s, the gen 2s, and still show that the Xterra can be a hardcore offroader, to appeal to everyone. But I need a front picture of your Gen1, 2 or shrock'd X to do it!

I'll work something out because redoing that clubxterra logo in black with a white background wouldn't be the most fun, or look the best.
So what I need are some front pictures of your X, so they can be combined into the cards design. I guess stand level with the bottom of the hood with the camera so it'll be uniform in the angle. Thanks for the help!

Brett you can always put a stock Xterra, lifted Xterra, and lowered Xterra.. but it might be kinda hard to show the lowered one...

But that way you cover all your corners of the X world :)

Alright I was messing around today for a bit. Front part of the card I kinda like. Colors can be changed of course cause black is a bit much. But it makes it stand out more when you look at it on a PC. The back part I want to add more but I just don't know what to put on it. I might mess around more. But was looking for some ideas and comments first.

From a psychological standpoint though, try to reword that highlight that uses the word "almost". You want to avoid words like almost, probably, could, should... etc. Any words like that, that leave a chance of uncertainty. Know what I mean? We want members to feel that if they come here they WILL find what they are looking for.

At the same time though, don't make promises you can't keep. Promising features that aren't in place yet. Stuff like that.

This isn't just a critique on your card, this is for everybody to consider. Don't leave doubts in their minds. CX is the place they are looking for. NOT CX is the place they MIGHT be looking for.

The black is cool but expensive to print and will burn my fuser out on the laser printer....

A good black boarder around the outer edge will also look attractive...I'll post up some ideas when I have a chance.. to much behind the sceans activity for me right now...

One thing Kyler... that design looks fantastic. I really like the front but I hate to ask... where did the image come from? We have to make sure that any image we use has no copyright, trademark or anything like that. It could pose some issues down the road. Aside from that small detail, that's a great design on the front though.

Just have a look through the galleries here and I'm sure any member will be glad to let you use their rig as a model. I'm not sure but I believe photos from photobucket and other host sites are ok as long as they don't have a watermark or copyright. But try if it's possible and make sure it's ok.

And if you use rear shots of an xterra, remember to black out or deform the license plate so it can't be seen.

theonly bad thing about putting in your own pic is the whatever company we choose to make the cards will charge us more since we will be changing the pics.... i would like to pick one pic and use it for a while then every so often change it up.... lets say every 6 months.... maby a yr....

Alright well this is something kinda quick I haven't used Photoshop in a while so this is a little plain. Here's a idea for the front of my design and I will work on the back tomorrow which will have more text about about the site, but I got to go to bed. I got a ruck in the wee morning hrs. It seems alot of people liked No Pipe's Option #2 about customizing it with your own pic of your truck. I have to admit I like it alot too. So I was thinking rather than using our own trucks for the pics and raising costs by printing so many different cards with different pictures. What about using the XOTY for that year? and once a new XOTY is voted then order more with the new winner's pic on it and maybe update the text if it is needed? i'm thinking more towards saving money. there is no doubt i would love to have my truck on the cards I would hand out. But i'm sure something along the lines of that would help save money? btw No Pipe i'm note trying to change your idea. you can have full rights to the idea for that card if you want.

well the only thing about thst is we wont have a xoty till jan 09 so we would have to wait that long.... i would like to get this going asap.. but its a good idea and its one that the admin and other mods have talked about in tha past....lets keep getting the submissions coming and we will have a winner before long.....

Let's remember that the cards still have to be voted on by the members. Don't count your chickens before they hatch so to speak. We can't assume No Pipe is going to win. There's a lot of good submissions out there. If he does win, then we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

Yeah the polls only allow for 10 and I'm not sure if it can be tweaked to add more or not.

I think I may know of a way to do something to show all of them but it will be tonight before I can get to it. Go ahead and post the polls and I'll try and tweak it tonight where people can link to another thread that has all of their submissions.

Thanks Creepy!! Got my Silver Club X decal on my '02-X and stack of club cards. Plus the couple Xtras you threw in there.

I've given out about half the cards already. Anonymously for the most part. I never see the owner by their rig. So I just slip a card on the sill of the driver window.

I don't see many of them as Off-Road potential. I think the majority are daily drivers or grocery getters. Nothing they actually take camping or weekend getaways.

We shall see if new members join and mention who they were referred by.
