tameroflions 04-22-2008, 03:59 PM here she is! the sad part is, #3 and 4 were taken after i got stuck. thats not even the sad part! the sad part is that that was the entrance to the trail, i didnt even make it on! im gonna go back later and dig that little river out so i can make it on cause after that, the trail is tight!
any suggestions on mods?
AXION 04-22-2008, 04:01 PM here she is!
Bitchin........did you mean backin or blackin..?
Ricer-X 04-22-2008, 04:04 PM pimp ride, the first mod i would do, is pull of that usless brush guard and sell it to pay for more mods
tameroflions 04-22-2008, 04:22 PM i meant blacking, i think that truck could look pretty tight all black.
that last picture i just added was courtesy of freakin georgia red clay. i got stuck in what i thought was just a puddle, turned out to be red clay. stuck for 2 and a half hours.
AXION 04-22-2008, 04:37 PM i meant blacking, i think that truck could look pretty tight all black.

WADA BEEEECH..!!! Ya... i KINDA thought you ment Blackin....NICE PICS AND WELCOME AGAIN!! I lived up in ROME Ga for a few years... GOD I MISS THAT COUNTRY!!!!
tameroflions 04-22-2008, 04:50 PM do you know of any good places to go ridin up there? i am runnin out of spots around here.
AXION 04-22-2008, 04:55 PM Not off hand but I'm sure the others here know 4 SURE! I'm in Oregon and you don't wanna drive over here for any fun...hehehe
Drake 04-22-2008, 05:52 PM There are a few offroad parks a short drive from ATL. There's River Rock in Milledgeville, Tellico up in North Carolina (if the tree huggers haven't gotten it shut down yet) and another one that's escaping me.
My NOAS club I belong to just had a club run at River Rock last weekend. They have another run in early June at Coal Creek near Knoxville, TN.
Check around for wildlife management areas. Sometimes they will have access roads that are not maintained that can turn out to be some gnarly trails. Just make sure you have a map or GPS and follow the laws. Some won't allow traffic after sundown.
Remember... Tread Lightly! Leave it better than you found it. It's the illegal stuff that off-roaders get the bad rap for and it's what gets all of our legal places to ride closed down.
Ehsan 04-22-2008, 09:33 PM nice i have a black xterra too. i started with windows and the antenna
XterraVT 04-22-2008, 09:48 PM Good looking X
TimRich 04-23-2008, 12:39 PM I'm workin on blacking mine out as well. I want to get the bumpers painted black if I don't Shrock it out. My rims are black as well. Gotta love it!!!
X~Terror 04-23-2008, 12:45 PM God...I hope that red clay did not inside the X....
LOL that would be a damn mess
:aufkopfhauen-big:
tameroflions 04-23-2008, 02:55 PM thanks for all the welcomes and compliments guys. ill let yall know what mods i end up doing.
AXION 04-23-2008, 02:58 PM thanks for all the welcomes and compliments guys. ill let yall know what mods i end up doing.
DUDE...The very 1st mod I WUNA SEE IS A Club X Sticker order!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumbsup-big:
CONTACT CREEPY....ASAP
tameroflions 04-23-2008, 08:57 PM dude, i plan on it, im just workin on finding the time to even freakin order one. and ive gotta figure out if i want one on the back or 2, 1 for each side. any suggestions?
and no, thank goodness the mud didnt get inside the truck. aside from that which was tracked in by the guys that helped pull me out...which was all over the seats and floors(i got rubber floor mats the day after...i didnt have any)
paid 75 bucks to have my interior cleaned...didnt really do much.
tameroflions 04-23-2008, 08:59 PM ha, yea, tricha, you seem to be a bit ahead of me w/ the blackin thing...im workin on it. i wanna get some cagar soft 8's soon when i get new tires and paint the bumpers and such. then im pretty much done.
Drake 04-23-2008, 09:02 PM If you only have one sticker on your rig, for me it would be a #4 in the high center of the rear window. If you look at the back of mine it would be where my NOAS sticker is (.3 hp gain). My second option would be bottom left corner of the rear window where my KC Daylighters and my "Life is short.. drive an Xterra naked" sticker is at (.9 hp gain for both plus .2 ft./lbs. of torque). I have 9 stickers on mine for a total of 1.6 hp and .8 ft./lbs. of torque. :mocking:
tameroflions 04-23-2008, 09:10 PM haha, man, if you look at my X, theres the picture of the rear, both of those spots on mine are taken. ive got a MTSU sticker in the top center (8"x18") and a pearl and a zildjian stickers in the bottom left i think, and apples on each side of the rear windows. so im already movin into the sides, so it'd fit.
i kinda like style 4 small in the upper back top of the sides in white.
im going for mostly white decals on my x. black and white themed.
Drake 04-23-2008, 09:20 PM That would look pretty cool indeed. I remember my first accord I had. I had the back glass covered in gary fisher, rock shox, and all sorts of kayak and band stickers. I dunno why. I just like it. It's kind of like a little story or biography of my vehicle. Each sticker represents either the day I got it, my first club to join, the best club to join (shameless plug) or all of the mods I've done to it.
"Life is short..." - first sticker I got like a week after I bought my X
KC Daylighters - first mod with the 100W KC spots
K&N - when I upgraded the air filter
NOAS - first club
Total Chaos Fab. - mod (IA Brace)
Shrockworks (2)- mod (skid plates)
Native Eyewear - it just looked cool
Club X (2) - it's obvious
Each one has their own story. lol
Yeah I'm weird.
:aufkopfhauen-big:
tameroflions 04-23-2008, 09:25 PM im really tryin to keep my decals white so im liking the fact that the CX ones are white.
i havent been able to find many band stickers that are white, but im lookin. im also trying to find a white calmini and a white magnaflow. and soon to be a kc for the spots and driving lights i wanna get.(once i get the money...so probably not any time soon)
but i agree, if someone looks at my truck, i want em to be be able to understand alot about me. its just kinda cool.
tameroflions 04-23-2008, 09:31 PM and im tryin to figure out if i could get axion to pay for some for me...he seems to be pushin those things like crazy, and he offered to pay for some other guys. maybe if i told him im a student that doesnt have a job that is currently saving up for kc's and some new tires and possibly wheels, maybe he'd have sympathy on me.
i dont wanna sound like a freeloader...just a broke 18 year old.
Drake 04-23-2008, 09:34 PM LOL... been there done that bro. I know exactly where you're coming from. Hell I'm still there just no longer 18. hahaha
tameroflions 04-23-2008, 09:41 PM haha, yea i bet most guys on here have been thru that. maybe one will find this and decide they wanna sponsor me and gimme cool stuff for my X. who knows.
a guy can dream cant he?
Steeze 04-23-2008, 09:42 PM The black and white theme is cool, check out my signature pic. If you can't afford new wheels just paint your stock wheels black. I painted all my plastic and my wheels black and I love it.
tameroflions 04-24-2008, 06:40 AM i want to paint the wheels black, the only problem is i hate my wheels, and one of them got hit by an altima so its a bit dented...(my x jumped up onto his bumper and ripped it off. he ran into my back right and i just kinda hopped up, yet the wreck was my fault...long story, 1600 worth of damage to his car...about 35 to mine for a new center cap) but yea, they are rusting and crap, i dont think it would be worth covering those up.
and for paintint the plastics...did you paint em all and how did you get the fender flare things off?
did you do the metal part of the bumper? if so, how did you prep it and what did you use? i also have calmini sliders that i really wanna get black, any suggestions on how to go about that?
Drake 04-24-2008, 06:59 AM Use a red scuff pad (you can get them at Advanced Auto for like $5) You can see it in my pics from where I painted mine. Scuff the entire surface with the pad. It will give a texture to the metal for the paint to adhere to. Wash with soap and water and then prep with a wax remover or acetone to remove any residues. Make sure it is completely dry before painting or it will bubble up and run. The prep cleaners evaporate quickly especially in sunlight. It should take about 20 minutes or so to completely dry.
As for the fender flares...do you mean the mud flap things in the front wheel well by the front doors? If so, after removing the screws there are two slot mounts that keep it attached. Be careful because you will break them very easily. I know this first hand. First you need to push the flare from the bottom towards your front door. This will unhook the lower tab and then lift up to get it off of the upper tab. I can post some pics tonight of what they look like from behind so you can see what I'm talking about.
You can do the same process for painting your sliders as well. I would look into Herculining them in black. It will give them a no slip texture and the finish is literally indestructible. Soccerbrace has a "How-to" on Herculining so check it out if you want.
tameroflions 04-24-2008, 08:48 AM do you use the same pad to scuff the metal as you did to do the plastics?
i meant the flares above the wheels, but the part behind the front wheels would be nice to have advice on how to take off. i would like to scerw up as little of my car as possible.
i hadnt even thought about herculining the sliders, that would be awesome, is it possible to not have it textured? i saw soccerbrace's X w/ the herculined sides and such, but it had texture. is it possible to not have that?
tameroflions 04-24-2008, 09:10 AM im also considering doing like a two tone on my grille. like the main parts black but the cross parts, i dont know how to describe them, i think i might do em white maybe. any suggestions?
mgblanke 04-24-2008, 09:53 AM Nice rig man! I hear ya on the broke college kid thing...im 19 and broke as hell...one piece of advice i can give you is to be patient cuz the mods come in time...thats what makes it so much fun and so worth it ESPECIALLY if you do them all yourself! Time is the main thing. As to the wheels i would get the Soft 8's...i have them and they are sick...i have a silver X and i have a theme goin on too...silver black and red...i try to keep all my stickers black so i know they are there just not too noticable! But if you need anything man holler at one of us...we are more than willing to help in any way possible...and if i can find some cash i will get them stickers for you man! cuz i know what its like to be broke!
Steeze 04-24-2008, 10:09 AM Im also a broke ass college student so were all on the same page. I didn't take one piece of plastic off when I painted them, I just taped everything off really good. I've found that no matter what vehicle it is taking off the plastic is never a good idea because it never goes back on the way the factory did it. I used two types of paint 1. Rustoleum High Heat Flat Black (for the wheels) and 2. Krylon Fusion Satin Black (For the Plastic and a 2nd coat for the wheels). All I did to prep was wash it really good and paint, the paints I used didn't require primer and I didn't scuff up any of the plastic because I don't think it's necessary and it comes out smoother if you don't rough up the surface. The great thing about paint is if it ever scratches or chips just hit it with a can of paint.. no big deal.
As for Herculining your X the texture seems to hold in dirt so I would imagine it would stay fairly dirty all the time. I've been looking at ways to Herculine with as little texture as possible. There are also other extremely durable paints you can buy similar to Herculine but I don't know of anyone who has used it. Im going to add 3M vinyl flat black mountain ranges all around the bottom half of my X, from headlight to headlight so at least the lower half of the paint is protected plus a black mountain range will look sick on a white X I think.
Keep posted
Drake 04-24-2008, 10:37 AM im also considering doing like a two tone on my grille. like the main parts black but the cross parts, i dont know how to describe them, i think i might do em white maybe. any suggestions?
On your grill, the cross bar will detach (if you take off the whole grill). There are 2 screws and 3 guide clips holding it in place and to keep it aligned. They are no trouble at all. Getting it off is the hard part. If you take off your front bumper though, you will easy access to all of the necessary screws.
I did not scuff any of the plastic. It has a bit of a rough surface already and the Fusion paint bonds really well and really fast as long as you do light coats. I only scuffed the metal on the rear bumper and I did scuff the front grill because it is a very smooth surface. It may not need it but it wasn't bad. I scuffed the grill using 600 grit sandpaper. The paint will fill in the scratches on the first coat so you won't see them.
tameroflions 04-24-2008, 12:09 PM i dont really wanna herculine much, just my sliders, i mean i guess i could deal with the texture, i really want it to be as tough as possible. does it seal it in too? cause ive got a big scratch in whatever the coating on it now is, and its starting to rust, so would herculining finish that off?
thatd be sweet, the mountain range thing man, post some pics whenever you get it up!
what kind of soft 8's fit the x? im lookin at the 15's, but lke what spacings and everything would i need?
my X is an 01, it doesnt have that silver cross bar, id have to tape of the center section. i do plan on taking off the whole grille, itd just make everything easier i think, and i really enjoy taking things apart!
but what do you think of the black with white accents?
any advice on how to do the metals? (bumper and sliders)
tameroflions 05-11-2008, 09:10 PM UPDATE:
just got my lights on the roof. they are sick! black kc style...i have gotten the air dam painted. i masked off the nissan, painted it white and painted the rest black so it looks like the gen 1.5's. i just got the front bumper off and im gonna start cleaning and laying first coats tomorrow. my X is trashed at the moment. anyone know if its legal to drive w/out front bumpers?
i also got the tbars cranked and it is still not quite level. its at 35.5" from ground to wheel well in front and 38 in back. but its better than what it was...ill post pics soon.
Drake 05-11-2008, 09:28 PM Sounds awesome man! Can't wait to see it.
What KC's did you go with? All driving lights or did you get like floods and spots?
tameroflions 05-11-2008, 09:33 PM no...the are kc STYLE. they were called driving lights but from whati can tell, they seem alot more like spots...i dont really have much to compare to thought. i cant really test em out cause i live in suburbia and they light up the house across the street. one is pointed directly at their dining room so ive gotta wait till i can go to a dark ally and aim em and such.
they have like crystal blue lenses like those really nice new cars so they are incredibly bright and a very white light instead of the more yellowish. they are awesome.
Brett89 05-11-2008, 09:34 PM Sounds awesome, cannot wait to see pictures!
Drake 05-11-2008, 09:39 PM Cool man... Just in case you didn't know, you cannot run those lights except for when you are offroad. Supposedly the law states that they are to be covered at all times. I've never been stopped for having mine uncovered but I guess its all in which cop sees them.
And it's just disrespectful to other drivers and really dangerous. When you are approaching a turn, the lights will actually wash out oncoming headlights so you can't see someone approaching from around the bend.
But either way... I bet it still looks kick ass!
cbzdel 05-11-2008, 11:27 PM Nice looking X!!
tameroflions 05-12-2008, 10:42 AM yea, i only plan on using them on the road when im screwing with friends...other than that, its just offroad.
just finished 2 of the 3 sections of the grille. ill post pics of that when im done. i skipped school to do it, so it might be a while till i can get the last part done
Brett89 05-12-2008, 11:54 AM haha nice work, that's dedication when you skip school to put something in/on
tameroflions 05-12-2008, 03:26 PM ...not really...its senioritis when you just dont go to school and sleep in till 1030 and then decide you still dont wanna go to school so you spray paint the bumpers on your x because you have a pretty bad case of the mod bug.
only 4 more days of real school left...the last week is finals and graduation practice...
tameroflions 05-14-2008, 02:24 PM ok, got it back from the shop with the tbars cranked and the lights put on. got the front bumper painted and air dam painted with the nissan painted in white, and my sliders painted w/ a black truck bed liner.
i also did a few layers of the bed liner on the very bottom of the front bumper, you cant really see it, but its there, i promise.
heres the pics. and one i am proud of that i thought i'd just throw in from a while ago.
tameroflions 05-14-2008, 02:27 PM check it out.
Drake 05-14-2008, 03:36 PM Hell yeah! Looks good bro!
Nice job!:thumbsup-big:
jman2000 05-14-2008, 09:53 PM O my god thats awesome. I hate you I can't give mine a PML cuz my dad won't let me
tameroflions 05-15-2008, 09:08 AM ha, thanks man. technically, its not really a pml. i had a 3 inch calmini lift on it and AAL's so the front was much lower, so i cranked the tbars to even out the rake...couldnt quite even it out, but its much better than it was.
jman2000 05-15-2008, 09:37 AM oh
TimRich 05-15-2008, 09:47 AM Damn that thing looks good!!! It makes me want to paint my grill and bumpers now...lol Are those the lights you got off ebay and how do they work? I saw some on there but i wasn't sure about them. I'd like to hear how they worked out for you before i buy any. they do look awesome though...
tameroflions 05-15-2008, 10:11 AM i havent really gotten a chance to do anything off road cause my front end is kinda messed up, im getting it worked on soon. but from what ive seen of em, they are awesome. they come w/ 130 watt and 150 watt bulbs, i put in the 150's and they are incredibly bright. they are a bit more of spots than driving lights.
my light bar isnt all t hat stiff and it kinda bounces, but they are sick. i love em.
thanks for the compliments.
they are really clear too. the blue lenses make it a really natural light. they shine on a tree about 10 feet away from my truck in broad daylight. its impressive.
json3904 05-15-2008, 10:18 AM how much did you pay for the lights????
tameroflions 05-15-2008, 10:22 AM 100 bucks for all four.
a bit more for installation...but thats a whole nother story.
cbzdel 05-15-2008, 11:02 AM The paint jobs looks good!!!
skeezer541 05-16-2008, 08:20 AM You need some TSL/Boggers on that thing....you would never get stuck again...
TimRich 05-16-2008, 01:07 PM :mocking: Well for that price I might just have to use some of my economic stimulus check and buy some of those!!!
F150Boss86 05-16-2008, 02:01 PM looks awesome man, it wouldbe awesome if you were to take a pic of the lights on top only on at night...thinking about ditching the squares for the same lights youve got
tameroflions 05-16-2008, 02:54 PM man, im getting some bjg at's wrapped around incubus wheels probably next week. im pumped.
http://www.incubusalloys.com/rwd_IA_511.htm
hopefully i wont get too stuck, we'll see. better than my crappers ive got now
yea dude, go for the lights, they are pretty dang bright, i havent taken em offroad yet, still nervous too. but within the next 2 weeks im getting front suspension worked on alot, new tires and rims, and i just got the tbars cranked, so its gonna be like a whole new truck, im so excited to go wheeling again!
i think the company was called snappy lights. could be wrong. all i remember is that the companys mascot is a turtle...
glad you like the pics man, yea im really into photography, so im just waiting for the opportunity to arise where i can take such a picture...when i do, plan on seeing them up here most likely that night. i just wanna go to an open place where the lights can really shine...but thats hard to come by in atl...
tameroflions 05-16-2008, 03:09 PM wow...sorry bout that...this computer sucks. im on my moms...not my usual mac.
once you go mac, you never go back.
...unless your mac stops working... :-(
tameroflions 05-18-2008, 01:45 PM ok, another update. just finished painting, got on all fender parts, just have the back end to put on...waiting on bumper to dry.
i am getting my incubus wheels and bfg's installed tomorrow and im getting the front suspension stuff fied later in the week, maybe this weekend.
will post more pics...once i get my mac back.
TimRich 05-19-2008, 10:02 AM Can't wait to see the new wheels and meats!!! Those wheels look sick! Post up as soon as you get a chance...

json3904 06-29-2008, 01:18 PM looks good......
TimRich 06-30-2008, 11:16 AM Lookin good!!!
cbzdel 06-30-2008, 11:19 AM That X is looking good!!
Brett89 06-30-2008, 04:41 PM That looks very good! target look for my X right there.
tameroflions 06-30-2008, 06:25 PM ha, thanks guys, sorry it took me so long to get pics up, summer started and i figured id be less busy. HA! i havent even been wheeling all summer. how sad is that?! partly cause of atl4x4brooks, but thats a different story.
thanks for the support guys.
TN4x4Xterra 07-02-2008, 09:26 PM Do you mind to give me the exact info for those silver/black wheels on your last pic cuz thats just EXACTLY what I'm wanting and looking for after I get mine lifted and could you provide the vendor's info also? That'll be great! Btw-Awesome pics!
Retracting above info:
By exact info, I meant part number of what you ordered your wheels in...I have an 01 X so I'm sure its probably the same size as yours...and I dont see the prices for it...what did you pay for the wheels if you dont mind me asking?
tameroflions 07-04-2008, 11:24 AM http://www.incubusalloys.com/rwd_IA_511.htm
i got the 15X8, i dont remember what my backspacing was, but it was bad. it rubbed alot and there was alot of trimming involved, but its ok now. and now that i look at the web site, i realized the backspacing must have been 3.44" which is alot. i believe they were about 110 or so a piece. the entire set of 5 wheels and 5 31" bfg A/Ts was 1188. so whatever that makes the wheels. i dont really know.
yea, mine is an 01 too, so yours should fit just the same. send me some pics once you get it all set up bro!
oh and i got them from discount tire. before they were a sponsor.
json3904 07-04-2008, 12:36 PM cant wait to see the pics....of the new rims...
tameroflions 07-04-2008, 03:56 PM jason, is that directed at me or TN4x4?
json3904 07-05-2008, 12:54 AM that was directed to you... not 4x4... LOL i was wanting to see the rims on the X....
tameroflions 07-05-2008, 01:14 PM theres some pics up but not good ones, i havent had a chance to get out and take good ones...i might get a few today with a nice camera out on a trail near my cabin. we'll see.
tameroflions 07-30-2008, 11:20 PM just found an old pic of how i bought the X.
heres how it was.

man, all that in like a year and a half or so.
can anyone say mod bug?
it hit me hard.:aufkopfhauen-big:
json3904 07-30-2008, 11:48 PM looking good...
TN4x4Xterra 07-31-2008, 12:04 AM pretty good transformation, daniel.
Hey how do you like your calmini sliders man? And those wheels? They look good!
tameroflions 07-31-2008, 08:19 AM i dont like the stock color of the sliders, the kinda lame grey. thats why i painted them black w/ bed liner. now i like them alot. they are really tough, great for a hilift. i thought one snapped the other day when i was changing the spare at CC. it didnt. it was just a bad day and im the guy that has crappy luck that something like that would happen to.
and the wheels are awesome too, i love them, a bit small for me, but going to 16"s with the same tire would have shot up the cost a few hundred so i went with just the 15"s
thanks bro, glad you like it. i cant wait to see the progress w/ your shrock front bumper, i pretty much wanna do the exact same thing. but i dont know that i need the strength of the shrock. im trying to find some way around that.
Jdubbau02 07-31-2008, 10:23 AM like drake said the only thing i dont like about calmini sliders is you have to open the door to use a hilift
tameroflions 07-31-2008, 01:15 PM yea, it is kinda lame, but i like having the sliders, i cant really compare em to shrock or anything, i didnt buy em, the truck came w/ em, so ive got no complaints.
the only time that would be a problem is if its raining, but if worse comes to worst, just putt a towel over the door or something.
tameroflions 08-04-2008, 03:33 PM i just added approx. 10 hp to my X!!!!
wanna know how?
it was simple...

Keyz18 08-04-2008, 03:37 PM are you sure it's only 10? I was under the impression you got more ;)
tameroflions 08-04-2008, 03:48 PM nomrally its way more, but when you totally suck at it, it only gets you about 10...it helps mpg a bit too.
Keyz18 08-04-2008, 03:54 PM it's not that bad man, I think you did an awesome job putting those decal's on! Lot better than what I'm capable of!
Drake 08-04-2008, 07:23 PM Lookin' good bro!
When you get to Nashville, you're going to replace that CC permit sticker with an annual pass right? :mocking:
tameroflions 08-05-2008, 10:36 AM not the first year probably...im gonna actually concentrate on school...ill do some easy wheeling if i find some around mtsu, but i dont think im gonna make that drive often enough to need that pass.
TN4x4Xterra 08-05-2008, 02:00 PM not the first year probably...im gonna actually concentrate on school...ill do some easy wheeling if i find some around mtsu, but i dont think im gonna make that drive often enough to need that pass.
Dont blame you man, I thought that UT wouldnt be too hard that I would have alot of free time like I did at PSTCC but I was wayyy wrong on that one, and I was always consumed by school work...never had any free time to do anything big so, definitely a wise choice there, Dan.
tameroflions 08-06-2008, 10:03 AM im gonna take the first semester to kinda get a feel for it, im also planning on doing lots of mtn biking, kayaking, camping, outdoors stuff like that, and i also need to get good at racketball(im taking it as a class...2 credit hours a week!) and i dont wanna totally suck the whole semester. so im gonna have alot of other stuff. plus im gonna be in atleast one worship band, and probably a few other bands, and i wanna just keep my general music stuff up. so i think ive got my hands full enough to not worry about wheeling for a bit.
oh yea, and im hopefully gonna have a job.
json3904 08-06-2008, 08:43 PM sounds like you have a plan made out already.. LOL
tameroflions 08-06-2008, 09:55 PM haha, yea...ill be a bit busy.
TN4x4Xterra 08-06-2008, 10:01 PM Sounds like more than just a bit busy, lol.
Let me know how your first week goes....when do you start?
tameroflions 08-06-2008, 10:04 PM i head up the 22, i start class the 25. im SO ready to get out of here!!!
tameroflions 08-08-2008, 12:06 AM results of my day of taking off the rack.

TN4x4Xterra 08-08-2008, 12:13 AM Nice job on the rails! Are you gonna paint the crossbars? or leave it silver?
I've been meaning to ask you but I kept forgetting at the CC trails but how did you wire up your roof lights? I noticed portion of the wires went down your windshield but what did you ground it with? and how was it basically hooked up? (sorry to hijack this thread, lol)
tameroflions 08-08-2008, 12:27 PM im gonna leave the crossbars cause they hold the basket and get scratched up like crazy...no point in wasting the paint to do em right now. i really wannaget rid of the basket and get a shrock type rear bumper w/ tire carrier and such. but until then, i need the basket.
the wiring...interesting question...im not totally sure on the wiring...i did it myself, and almost had a catastrophic end to my x, so i took it to my mechanic(yes, the same mechanic...)and he redid it for me, it turns out the guy that had the truck before me wired up a ton of stuff wrong. so im not sure where the power is coming from, but i do know the grounds are straight to the battery.
sorry i cant really answer your questions.
but the wires are run down under the wind fairing uder the front brace for the passsnger side roof rack, then down under and in the weatherstriping on the inside of the door opening and between the wiper cowl thing and the fender up to the battery.
Keyz18 08-08-2008, 12:40 PM I like how everything matches, one of the great things about having a black rig...
glazener24 08-09-2008, 09:35 AM im gonna leave the crossbars cause they hold the basket and get scratched up like crazy...no point in wasting the paint to do em right now. i really wannaget rid of the basket and get a shrock type rear bumper w/ tire carrier and such.
I take that basket off your hands. :)
What kind of lift do you have?
tameroflions 08-09-2008, 10:45 AM dude, im really considering selling it...though im no where near erady to buy the shrock...i have to put on a bl first so i can buy it w/ the 2" option, and iwanna put bigger tires on cause it'd look dinky w/ like 5.5 inches of lift and 31" tires.
anyone know what size i could get w/ a 2" BL and 3"SL with 15" incubus alloy simulated beadlock wheels?
its a calmini 3"
json3904 08-09-2008, 10:26 PM you could go with at least 33's and maby even bigger... it just depends on the amount of space you have left after the 2" BL
Definitely more than 10HP for the stickers :thumbsup-big:
That one X looks cool, kinda organic
tameroflions 08-09-2008, 11:54 PM are you calling my x a hippie?
json3904 08-09-2008, 11:55 PM lol i think he did.....
TN4x4Xterra 08-10-2008, 08:01 AM are you calling my x a hippie?
:laugh-big:
tameroflions 08-16-2008, 07:14 PM ANOTHER UPDATE: ok, i re did my antenna bracket today...my cb hasnt been receiving well at all lately, and today, i took off the bracket and stuff looked at the wire to it...the ground wire had actually decentegrated. that is probably why i had crappy reception. but i redid it today w/ a tube mount. i put it on my tail light guard. i dont know if it works better yet because no one around me has cbs here in suburbia.
i have also had a request for pictures of my bike rack setup...i will take both tomorrow and post them for yall.
tameroflions 08-18-2008, 02:45 PM ok, heres the bike rack.

TN4x4Xterra 08-18-2008, 02:47 PM Nice job on the antenna bracket!
Looks like a Yakima bike-rack lol.
Whatever happened to that spare tire on your rack????
Keyz18 08-18-2008, 02:48 PM Nice Rack! ...I mean "BIKE" rack!
I noticed the U-Haul sticker..you going to black that out?
tameroflions 08-18-2008, 02:58 PM dang, yall are freaking observant. i tossed the spare under for a while...im not doing any wheeling soon and i need the roof for moving stuff up this weekend to tenn.
its not a yakima, its some really cheap one. but it gets the job done
im glad you like my rack bro. you get what you pay for!:engel-big:
im sorry my uhaul sticker offends you. i might black it out...not really sure, cause i think i might actually be selling the hitch when i get enough money to buy a shrock rear. so i dont wanna mess up the hitch too much.
Keyz18 08-18-2008, 03:01 PM LOL, nah, the sticker doesn't offend me. I was just wondering because you were going for the black effect. That's a good idea not doing anything to your hitch if you're going to sell it in the future.
TN4x4Xterra 08-18-2008, 03:02 PM Aha! I now see that slippery slick black spare tire! hahaha! Cant blame us for being observants...its what we do best at CX!
Most hitch have those stickers on them but mine had Valley sticker on it and it was kinda bubbly so I just picked on one end and peeled it out slowly and it came out without a problem...might want to try that...rather than painting it.
Amped about moving to tenn?
tameroflions 08-18-2008, 03:16 PM dude, im SO ready to be out of here. at this point, id be glad to move anywhere...even like kansas city..i hear that place is pretty lame(ask drake). so the fact that im going to tenn is just a HUGE plus.
MXandSXracer21 08-19-2008, 01:07 AM where in tennessee are you moving to? I live near Chattanooga, but I am going to school in Cookeville at TN Tech.
tameroflions 08-19-2008, 01:19 AM im going to murfreesboro to go to mtsu.

tameroflions 08-20-2008, 12:14 AM ok, i just make a pretty cool picture in photoshop..i tried to ad it as my signature, but its too small to really be able to tell anything, so ill just post it here.

glazener24 08-20-2008, 12:42 PM How is that spoiler thingy (not sure what it's called) on the back of your truck attached to the X?

tameroflions 09-15-2008, 03:27 PM ok. here is my cs3 drawing of my next mod, after the bl.
yes, i realize it could jsut as easily be done in ms paint. but i have a mac. therefore that will not work for me. so yea, its gonna be a prerunner, its gonna look basically like the calmini front for a frontier, just made by me for my X. i just joined the baja club at mtsu, so im hoping we'll have extra time/scraps to toss this together, than ill paint it w/ bed liner than some clear coats maybe to make it look powder coated.
oh... and i tossed on a snorkel...just to see what it would look like

I've got offroad lights, which are wonderful for driving these back country roads at night with no one on them... unfortunately, I ran out of switch space in my X when I installed the compressor on/off switch and the arb locker switch...

munkman 10-11-2008, 02:29 PM When you painted all of the trim, did you use any sandpaper or steel wool? or just slap the paint on after a good wash? I'm probably going to do mine today or tomorrow :-D
Yourrid 10-11-2008, 02:51 PM LMAO! What is up with the grenade??

i didnt sand any of the plastic, only the metal middle part of the bumper. i cleaned it all realllll good w/ 409 or windex or something of that nature and just did one light coat and then a few heavier coats. it turned out real nice and even, i personally think it looks like it was done stock.
haha, that gernade. we hsould all get signatures in our pics like that and always make people pick em out.

trapX 03-10-2009, 08:07 PM Daniel, I'm loving the look of your X, I would like to someday have mine looking that nice. I also have a black 2001 and I'm currently painting my roof rack with black truck bedliner. I wanted to know what kind of paint you used for the wind deflector and bumpers. Right now I'm planning on using krylon fusion satin as I've heard about some other people using it, but I'm not sure what would look best on a black X.
Edit: My bad, I didn't see you responded to my private message. I will probably go ahead and use the krylon fusion satin. I was also wondering what happened to your grill guard? I noticed it wasn't on there in the most recent pictures. Is there a reason you took it off? Are you still planning on your new bumper? I'm looking to get a grill guard and rear light guards so let me know if you plan on selling it. If not, where did you get yours from? I noticed they are around 330 or so on websites, but about 100 less on ebay. Anyone know the reason for this? lower quality? Anyway, I appreciate the help.

Slugger 04-12-2009, 08:53 PM Lookin' good man
vandebogart 04-18-2009, 02:29 PM Nice pics Daniel!
Looking sweet bud! I love those tires on there!!! XOTM partner... You need to let me know how those things feel and sound on the freeway, I hear they are great! But it's when they get past half the life on tires when Mud terrains get loud, so let me know because I think they will keep the same quality even until the end of their life. They look great and so does your X, one of my favs!
tameroflions 04-19-2009, 11:10 PM athanks so much alex, so far, i LOVE them. they handle just as well as my a/t's..granted they fload a bit a bit more, but once you get used to it, they are awesome.
i have only spun them once, but thats cause i was on ice.
they handle incredibly well offroad and everything.
they are kinda loud, but again, theyre M/Ts...but i think compared to other m/ts, theyre pretty tame. but i really wasnt worried about noise, i have an exhaust system and a stereo system...tire noise is the least of my worries.
glad you like my truck...now if i could just get freakin bumpers!!!!
aznboihoy03 04-20-2009, 02:50 AM nice pix! im diigin those wheels!

tameroflions 05-19-2009, 10:45 AM going to pick up my rear carrier from richard on monday.
already got my front on, gotta finish up mounting it, then, once i get the rear, im gonna get em both powdercoated.
will post pics when i get all that done.
for now ill post pics of my secret mod.
REVOLVER SHACKLES!!!!
thanks to my dual exhaust, the way it was run, i had to hack off the tips.

in w/ the new(and painted the new white)

flex?
http://i332.photobucket.com/albums/m334/tameroflions/xterra/DSCN0676.jpg
but my shocks were limiting my flex, so i went back after i unmounted my pass. side shock...
flex more?
http://i332.photobucket.com/albums/m334/tameroflions/DSCN0681.jpg
but notice that the shackle isnt even fully flexed? thats because my leaf springs were rubbing against the wall before i could even fully droop.

http://i332.photobucket.com/albums/m334/tameroflions/DSCN0684.jpg
oh, i also redid my lobo rack...ill post pics eventually.
unconformity 05-19-2009, 12:11 PM those shackles are sick!
silverbullet 05-19-2009, 03:10 PM Nice! Are they the Ac ones?
vandebogart 05-19-2009, 04:08 PM You're killin me man.. when ya gona post pics of your new front bumper?? lol
Drake 05-19-2009, 05:25 PM Time to invest in a back-up set of leaf springs. All good things come with a price... your price being the increased chance of snapping a leaf or at the least, fatiguing your leaf pack ahead of schedule... way ahead of schedule. lol
But it looks friggin' sweet man and definitely worth it. Check your frame and inner fender wells on the stuffed side to see if you're rubbing on the frame. At full flex, my tires have rubbed the paint off of the inner fender.
Now most importantly... WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO GET IT DIRTY????
Steeze 05-19-2009, 06:39 PM Looks sweet man, did you paint them white yourself? If so nice touch...
tameroflions 05-20-2009, 09:40 AM Nice! Are they the Ac ones?
thanks man, yea, they are the AC ones.
You're killin me man.. when ya gona post pics of your new front bumper?? lol
im gonna post em once i get em powdercoated. im just gonna be like stevin for a while.
Looks sweet man, did you paint them white yourself? If so nice touch...
thanks bro, and yea, i put like 5 coats of this heat resistant gloss white paint i found in my basement.
nice!
what did you have to extend to get the full droop as far as brake lines, etc.
tameroflions 05-20-2009, 10:27 AM i just got the braided steel brake lines from AC. i might have to extend my breather tube too.
and i took off the rear shock to get it farther down.
TimRich 05-20-2009, 01:13 PM Nice!!!!
TN4x4Xterra 05-20-2009, 06:42 PM im gonna post em once i get em powdercoated. im just gonna be like stevin for a while.
I taught you well! ;)
Looks good though!

Steeze 05-27-2009, 06:02 PM Oh damn, that looks super badass Daniel!
Nicely done on both ends....
Can you get some close up pics of your rear tire carrier hinge and latch system...
TN4x4Xterra 05-27-2009, 08:49 PM Looks good man!
What is the middle thing on your bumper? Is that a screen? Or tinted plexiglass? Kinda hard to tell from the angle.
I take it your not planning a winch mod?
Richard still making rear carriers? If so, I might hit him up.
Steeze 05-27-2009, 08:55 PM I love custom work, are you planning on painting it glossy black?
I think it would look sick if you did the front and back bumpers glossy white... just my 2 cents.
tameroflions 05-27-2009, 09:07 PM Looks good man!

it is expanded steel. its pretty much a screen. just bigger openings. ill post up pics closer up later, its just like really rusty, cause i havent painted it yet or anything.
there is space enough in there that i could probably fit a winch if desired, and the guy that made it said he'd be happy to weld in a mounting plate for it for me if the time came. but i dunno. we'll see.
and as far as i know, he is still doing them, hes in the process of moving, but once he gets settled i imagine he'd build one. its a BEAST.

thanks man, i had the front one made by a local guy that owns a shop called M&h products co. he started out cause he got drunk one night and ordered a welder. but he couldnt pay for it so he started making rear carriers for his buddies to pay it off. and that turned into a business for him, he mainly does industrial type stuff, but when i came to him w/ my idea, he jumped on it. i was there thru every step and designed it myself.
i plan on powdercoating it. im about to leave for a week and a half, but when i get back im gonna get on that.
and yea....i was originally gonna have him make a skid plate that went all the way from the curved piece at the bottom of the bumper to the crossmember, and paint the bumper black and the skid white, but stuff came up and i dont think im gonna do that.
but if the powdercoating place doesnt charge me too much extra im probably gonna do the swing arm white and the bumper its self glossy black powder.
silverbullet 05-27-2009, 09:19 PM SWEET. I like them alot. Can I see some more pics of the rear bumper/hinge/latch
TN4x4Xterra 05-27-2009, 09:23 PM thanks man, i had the front one made by a local guy that owns a shop called M&h products co. he started out cause he got drunk one night and ordered a welder. but he couldnt pay for it so he started making rear carriers for his buddies to pay it off. and that turned into a business for him, he mainly does industrial type stuff, but when i came to him w/ my idea,
Hmm...sounds like an excellent idea for me to do....
tameroflions 05-27-2009, 09:31 PM SWEET. I like them alot. Can I see some more pics of the rear bumper/hinge/latch
haha, thanks man.
yea, when i take it apart again to get it coated, ill take some pics, its totally simple.
the latch is 2 tabs on top and bottom of the swing arm w/ a hole going all the way down thru it all, and you stick something in it so it wont come loose. its not actually a latch or anything.
thats what the blue thing is, its just the handle on the pin
and the hinge is just a ball bearing type thing that he bought and welded everything else to.
xterraoridinary 05-27-2009, 09:31 PM haha you never fixed that driver side tail light protector. i remember when that thing was so bent to hell it stuck out the side
silverbullet 05-27-2009, 09:32 PM Thats cool. any plans for a hi lift or jerry can mount?
TN4x4Xterra 05-27-2009, 09:43 PM haha you never fixed that driver side tail light protector. i remember when that thing was so bent to hell it stuck out the side
Yeah I saw that on the facebook pic and posted about it but don't think you saw it.
What the heck did you do to bend it that far out? lol
tameroflions 05-27-2009, 09:48 PM haha, grant, what are you talking about?
if you mean the passenger side one, then no, i havent fixed it yet caues i have to get a longer cb cable to be able to mount my antenna to the tab on the bumper behind the tire.
as soon as i do that, that protector thing is GONE. i hate it.
no plans for jerry can, its got hilift tabs tho. just havent mounted the hilift cause i need to be able to park it in my garage for the next week, and the jack will stick up pretty high.
gimme time guys, itll all work out. dont rush me :)
especially you grant, youre getting my shackles tomorrow, you better be nice!
oh, and way to go on your first post man!
guys, meet grant,(xterraordinary) i went to school w/ him last semester...helped him w/ the air intake mod...now hes about to do quite a few more mods. hes been a member for probably 4 months, and just had his first post today....
flame him as much as you see necessary, i give you my permission :)
silverbullet 05-27-2009, 09:59 PM Time for a welcome thread grant. Don't forget the pics.
TN4x4Xterra 05-27-2009, 10:04 PM x2 on what Ian said.
peewee 05-27-2009, 10:20 PM Hmm...sounds like an excellent idea for me to do....
i think you definately should. and i will drive down from kingsport and pick up a front bumper you will make for me. sound like a good plan?
vandebogart 05-28-2009, 02:31 PM Looks good Daniel!!

TimRich 09-16-2009, 09:26 AM Nice!!! I love Impreza's...
tameroflions 09-16-2009, 10:54 AM thanks :)
shes lowered a bit(new shocks), new rims, cold air intake, new (bigger) intercooler, upgraded turbo, hks BOV, apexi turbo timer, apexi boost controller, apexi air fuel controller, short throw shifter, stage 3 clutch, windows tinted, and now yakima roof rack w/ 2 bike racks and kayak stacker.
recon 09-16-2009, 12:26 PM thanks :)

and you are getting rid of your x to save money?
TN4x4Xterra 09-16-2009, 12:32 PM and you are getting rid of your x to save money?
He's already gotten rid of the X....
recon 09-16-2009, 12:37 PM that was me saying he got rid of the x to now move on to a tuner, which is expensive just the same?
TimRich 09-16-2009, 01:24 PM Did add all that stuff or did you buy it with all the bells and whistles???
tameroflions 09-16-2009, 01:35 PM i bought it w/ it all on there except the yakima rack. i had it thoroughly tested at a tuner shop before i bought it tho.
oh, it also has a new exhaust, i dont remember the brand tho.
TimRich 09-16-2009, 01:43 PM Very nice! Are you planning on dynoing it? Just wondering what the HP is on that thing!
tameroflions 09-16-2009, 01:45 PM i had it dyno'd at the shop, but they only did one run cause its running real lean, but it was pushin 260 at that point.
the guy i bought it from said he had it tested one time and it was at 300 on the second pull when the power went out in the shop, so they stopped testing.
once i get it tuned and a few more things done, imgonna get it dyno'd, ill keep yall posted.
TimRich 09-16-2009, 01:54 PM Sounds good!!!
tameroflions 09-22-2009, 06:59 PM http://i332.photobucket.com/albums/m334/tameroflions/WRX/DSC_0155.jpg
TN4x4Xterra 09-22-2009, 07:03 PM And that rack cost you 750 bucks??
tameroflions 09-22-2009, 07:27 PM yea, the rack, plus the towers, plus 6 lock cores, plus 2 bike racks, plus kayak stackers....
it ads up quickly. totally worth it tho.
TN4x4Xterra 09-22-2009, 08:23 PM Get a loadwarrior on it! :mocking:
Do you even have tinted windows? Only tint I see is the eyebrow tint?
tameroflions 09-22-2009, 09:31 PM yea, theyre slightly tinted. i dont think it would look too good w/ dark tints, cause of the rims. the picturs dont really show off the tint much, but its actually really good.
if i find a need for a loadwarrior, ill be giving you a call to steal yours! why would i buy my own? :)
TN4x4Xterra 09-22-2009, 11:28 PM Nice.
You might want to consider starting a new thread for your WRX in the "Other side of the driveway" section....since you no longer have the X.....Just food for thought.
json3904 09-23-2009, 12:07 AM yeah get out of this xterra thread... i dont care if you started it!!!!!! LOL just giving you a hard time...
tameroflions 11-24-2009, 05:57 PM sooo....update....

time for flaming.
wow, that didnt last very long...
tires on that jeep are wayyy to small
BigDog107 11-24-2009, 06:45 PM That is a sweet jeep.
Heavus 11-24-2009, 07:19 PM that suuucks..
who's fault was it?
always the fault of the driver behind...right?
tameroflions 11-24-2009, 07:26 PM yup. legally my fault. technically not, but that doesnt matter.
oh well...ill live. i guess i just wasnt supposed to have a WRX right now.
TN4x4Xterra 11-24-2009, 07:28 PM Jeep tires is 33" but it has a BL on it, I believe....
Sweet Jeep though.
I see you got mirror spotlight....you can prowl at night undercover cop style! :D
tameroflions 11-24-2009, 07:31 PM haha, no, they arent moveable from in the cabin. they are still. i wish they were tho, that'd be fun.
tameroflions 11-24-2009, 07:46 PM and yes, the BL will be coming off promptly following my return from my families trip to the beach for thanksgiving :)
TN4x4Xterra 11-24-2009, 07:49 PM Love your signature, especially how you worded "lots of mods....again" lol.
BigDog107 11-24-2009, 08:05 PM and yes, the BL will be coming off promptly following my return from my families trip to the beach for thanksgiving :)
Why take the BL off? Just get soem 35s or something.
tameroflions 11-24-2009, 08:07 PM haha, bro, its a 4banger, so it already has zero power, theres no way i'd further embarass it by adding 35"s. and i dont like BLs anyway.
BigDog107 11-24-2009, 08:08 PM Oh....ok I get it now. LOL. I bet the X woudl feel 10X faster LOL
TN4x4Xterra 11-24-2009, 08:09 PM 4banger? I was not aware of that!
Hmm...wanna race? :D lol jk jk jk bro!
vandebogart 11-24-2009, 08:30 PM Nice Jeep Daniel!
my girlfriends brother has a 2000 TJ 4 banger that we did a 2" spacer lift 2" body lift with 33" mts...its not the fastest, about the same as a lifted xterra lol
we just put on a banks monster exhaust and a K&N filter and that woke it up some
Heavus 11-24-2009, 08:46 PM one of my classmates had a wrangler. lifted 8 inches with 38's on it. it was HUGE. the mudflaps he had could work as a baby blanket
wills01x 11-24-2009, 10:20 PM damn.. sooo thats what happened to the wrx... sorry to hear that...
thats a cool jeep tho. i was looking at an orange jeep with 36's on it before i came across ur x.
