It sounds like it started up in safe mode. Try removing the positive batt cable for 20 min.

There is a proceedure to reset it, but I dont know what it is.

I'm no master mechanic, but it sound like your X started in "safe mode". You know like a PC. Something is wrong! Need to have the code read on it to see what is/it thinks is wrong.

This is an issue I have seen people talk about. More with the 2005 than the 06's but seeing as they are the same truck. It ended up being someing strange like thw Yaw sensor or something. I'll see if I can find the thread on another forum. The solution is to take it back to the dealer though.

Here ya go.

Go to the dealer armed with that info.

The dealership said it was a bad brain. The part(ECM) is in Los Angeles and they should have it in by Thursday. Do you all think this was a lazy way out? Like, OK we know there is a problem somewhere so lets just replace the whole part?

Not nec a lazy way out. There are several "brains" in the vehicle, the BCM (Body Control Module that houses all your accessories.. locks, radio, security system.. ect...) the PCM (Power Control Module, mostly has to do with Transmission, but affects other things as well) EBCM (Electronic Brake Control Module... which affects, you guessed it, Brakes) the ECM has to stand for something like Engine Control Module.... which would make sense.

hi Gents,
i have a Nissan Xterra 2008 model and mine sems to be having similar problems after parking it for 2months, VDC OFF light on, Engine not reving properly, car not driving fast at all, or hardly moving at all, and car smoking, initial error codes were P0447, serviced EVAP canister, my mechanic took it for a spin and it developed noise in the engine,

Took it to another mech, who checked for weeks and changed the engine,
With New Engine, it still smokes (black), now the smokes' turned white and black mix, car still not reving, There are no more error codes though,
Anybody got any ideas??

lol did any of these people try getting rid of your gas .. maybe water or oil or hell something else in those two months ended up in your gas tank but try dumping your gas tank sounds to me like you could just simply have bad gas

tripb101,
Thanks for the response, In fact that was one of my suggestions, and we removed the fuel tank and cleaned it just last week, the smoke gradually changed from pure white to a mix of white and black, but it still does not rev very well,
My mech thinks its brainbox, wonder how to get one, considering my location (Nigeria)
