Is it possible to have it set somehow so that when I lock the doors with the remote, the car doesn't beep the horn? I'd rather have it lock the first time I press it with no noise, then beep if I press it again and the doors are already locked.

If its the same as on my Z, then I think you have to press the lock & the unlock buttons simultaneously for about 3 seconds to turn the beep back on again.
P.S. Welcome to the club!

I got this from an online manual for the xterra.
Silencing the horn beep feature
If desired, the horn beep feature can be
deactivated using the multi-remote controller.
To deactivate: Press and hold the LOCK
and UNLOCK buttons for at least two
seconds.
The hazard lights will quickly flash three
times to confirm that the horn beep feature
has been deactivated.
To activate: Press and hold the LOCK and
UNLOCK buttons for at least two seconds once more.

Those were great directions. I did it at lunch today and it worked perfectly on the first try.
