Well it's finally done.....the 105K service. How exciting. I am at 100K now.

Timing Belt/Tensioner
Drive Belts
NGK Plugs & Wires
Camshaft Oil Seal
Crank Shaft Oil Seal
Water pump
Thermostat
Oil Change/Filter I went with a heavier weight oil...I had a "tap"
Transmission Drain/Refill
Fuel Filter
Air Filter
Rear Axle Service
New Tires
New Windshield Washer Cap..Somehow lost the other one
Engine detailIt runs great!! It is seriously like a new X. The tap is gone. You can barely hear the engine running. The timing belt was so damn loose that it is amazing it was still there!!
I put the Seafoam in right before I had the work done. Word of advice do not wait until 105K to do the timing belt!
:i-love-you-big:

Next Up....

Clutch
Brakes
Muffler, maybe a nice Flowmaster ;) I have been researching them on here.
In Cabin Microfilter.
Wish List: Grill Guard, New Air Intake? Also thinking of a new and different color paint job. Maybe new rims..later on.I need some advice though...I need to really get under the X and clean the under carriage good. I ran over some oily substance that was all over the body, and up underneath there. I mean everywhere.
It's not like I see it under there, but I know it is there & it's bugging me.
I am meticulous about having a clean X.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to do this with out putting it on a lift? I really need to use a brush and cleaner. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
:wink-big:

Good job on the timely maintenance! You're good for another 100K now!

To clean the belly really good you're gonna have to be willing to get really dirty if you don't have access to a lift. I use my jackstands and lift the front end up as high as SAFELY possible. You can pick up a good set of heavy-duty stands for about $25 at Sears but you can find them at any auto parts place or Wal-Mart.

The best thing I can think of would be to use one of those compressed air sprayers you can get at Lowe's or Home Depot for about $10 for a one gallon sprayer. Mix some Simple Green or something similar and spray the whole undercarriage thoroughly. Make sure to do it when the X is cooled off otherwise the cleaner will dry pretty much instantly. Then hit it with a hi-pressure hose or pressure washer if you have access to one.

And you say you're in the market for a brushguard? I just happen to have one if you're interested. It's in good shape and not bent, damaged or faded. Just shoot me a pm and maybe we could work something out.

I need to do it myself.. I am debating on where to buy the parts from.. Xterra parts has that kit for $300, it looks decent to me.. Then I have a buddy that is a detailer at a jag/range rover/volvo dealer and he talked to one of the service techs and he said he would do the whole service for $300 at his house.. I dont know anything about the guy.. What do you guys think.. I am kinda questioning the whole idea but $300 for a timing belt service seems like a great deal after hearing people pay close to $1000...

The kits from Xterra parts.com is a good deal
I would have purchased it from there,
but I already had the drive belts.
Also the tensioner parts were not that easy to find in the auto parts stores and they were expensive.
I got a quote from Tires Plus to do the Timing Belt and Water Pump only
for $468, with the parts

The problem I am facing is WHAT IF this guy screws up, there is nothing backing up his work, I am then SOL.. If its done at a business, its the business's responsibility... Because the timing belt is not something I was a backyard mechanic to half ass lol..

i dont know your friendship status with the guy, but if that guy screwed up and broke something and it was his fault, who covers the cost, him or you?? Personally it would come out the money I would be paying him.. I am just scared to get screwed over (it happens to everyone) I guess, because I dont have the kinda money to be wasting...

well i have a little in site on the timing belt since the pathy and the X are pretty much the same motor.... and right now i can open my hood on the pathy and look at the belt.... it really isn't that hard to get to..... just time consuming....

I have been wondering what are the exact differences between the ve30 and the vg33.. I am trying to come up with more engine mods than have not been tried yet... I guess I have ALOT of reaserch to do.. Because I know they make those intake spacer for the VG30, and I am wondering if there is any chance they would fit the VG33..

yes they will fit the whole top end of the 30 is the exact same from what ive been told.... and also if you look at both engine bay's every thing is in the same place on both...... the only diff is that the pathy has a 3.0 and the X has a 3.3
