Ok yall well i finally had the very controversial welded up rear spider gears.
Note: this is not recommended to the regular daily driver/once in a while wheeler.
Off the line my x is fast, much faster than it was before.
On the road the x handles normal other than sharp turns in which i get the infamous chirp.
Off road it is amazing, simply amazing. it can do doughnuts easy so be careful.

My spider gears did not just have nubs welded on to them, i had it fully welded including welding to the the carrier together. i do not expect to brake the welds at all but if i do ive already got what will be needed to a full replacement.

Overall i am very happy with my decision and how everything turned out and would do it over again in a heartbeat.

thanks yall for reading i hope this helps those on the fence about getting their gears welded up

I had a 1992 Mitsubishi Mighty Max "beater" with the spiders welded by the PO and didn't mind it a bit on the highway. Sure it chirped a little on tight turns, but that was about it.

But I still wouldn't do it to my X when I could just get an air locker and do it right.

But I congratulate you on the cajones to do that to yours. I'm sure it performs much better in certain applications.

Yea that's really just how it is. Chirps a lil bit but hardly any notice after that.

Yeah, its a hard core mod. :D

The premature tire wear is actually a main reason not to do it to a daily driver, and the handling quirks can be a problem in emergency maneuvers, etc, but you can learn to compensate at least....if you have time before the maneuver TO learn.
