: Body Shop: "Your rims don't fit!"
Dtrock78 01-20-2012, 01:13 PM wtf....
I just bought a 2010 Xterra X and stopped into my local custom shop to get these ugly stock 16'' Equator rims of my truck.
We had a helluva time trying to find any rims that were compatible?? But settled on American Racing Baja rims. I ordered 4 and they got in this past Wednesday.
Dropped it off at the shop over lunch and the body shop calls me back and said the rims are hitting the brake calipers on the front breaks. They said they wont fit on the vehicle unless I get a couple hundred dollars worth of spacers, which they dont suggest.
To top it off, American Racing's main server is down today and all their operators can't access anything on their computers.
He said it might be a simple error in that they shipped the wrong ones, but I'm doubting it.
Help! Anyone run into this before or heard of it? I just dont get why its such a pain in the @ss to get a decent pari of rims for an Xterra
miskywhisky 01-20-2012, 01:32 PM Pretty common really, i know some toyotas with the same issue. All you can do is hope american racing will take them back and find another set. Thats what i hate about the 2nd gen, such an odd lug pattern.
Dtrock78 01-20-2012, 01:43 PM Damnit....
So Whisky, is there a "default" rim you've heard of guys using on here?
I've seen a number of different tires/rims photos on here. If I got rid of my tires eventually would I have more options with 17'' rims with the lug pattern?
miskywhisky 01-20-2012, 02:46 PM Sorry, not sure since i own a 1st gen. Maybe some of the 2nd gen guys will chime in later with the things you have to look for.
piratex 01-20-2012, 03:42 PM procomp 8089's??? if u get on tirerack or discount tire they have prgrams that will show what rims you can get. fyi your a 6 lug with 4.5 backspacing. the procomps have a wider backspacing so your tires will stick out more similar to what spacers do
Creepy Cruiser 01-20-2012, 03:49 PM Try PM-ing "Discount Tire" They are a sponsor on here and post up new ones that fit all the time.
You can also start here: http://www.clubxterra.org/forums/search.php?searchid=1432741 by reading the post that he puts up on a lot of new styles and how they fit.
Dtrock78 01-20-2012, 07:52 PM Thanks guys.
Pirate, I think I actually came across another thread where you mentioned them, those and the 9089s? I checked them out and most of the styles are in black, or gaudi looking. I like black rims on the xterra, but not on the black xterras. The weird thing is, someone said even if the specs line up with the rims, you still dont know until you try to fit them on because the front calipers are a funky size.
Here's the list they have on discount tire for 16'' for 2o1o xterras, the American Outlaw Colt is pretty cool looking, but other than that...meh -

piratex 01-21-2012, 12:12 PM dtrock i was trying to get that photo to upload as my main pic. lol
Dtrock78 01-21-2012, 01:45 PM I'm liking those....any opinion on the American outlaw "Colts"? I saw someone on here that had them, not sure if he had spacers though
Discount Tire 01-21-2012, 01:46 PM The Colts will fit as well.
Dtrock78 01-21-2012, 02:26 PM Awesome, thanks man
Pirate, which one? My avatar with the guy getting ready to crap
himself?
piratex 01-21-2012, 03:48 PM The one with the guy paddling over the shark. Everytime I see that pic it makes me think of all the sharks that are near me when I surf
Dtrock78 01-21-2012, 04:00 PM Looks like a White to me!
piratex 01-21-2012, 04:02 PM It is. It was taken in cali near jaws surf spot. Whave massive bull sharks here though
lbishop 01-21-2012, 04:24 PM theres a thread over on thenewx.org that covers wheel options available for 05+ xs
http://www.thenewx.org/forum/showthread.php?t=5119
Dtrock78 01-21-2012, 05:06 PM Thanks bishop. I actually read that whole thread last night. It was a bummer in terms of the limited options. One dude on there is running the American outlaw Colts, I'm leaning towards them..
lbishop 01-21-2012, 05:45 PM Ya no prob. man unfortunately just not awhole lot of aftermarket support wheel wise for the second gen. xs
*might try those wheel adapters to bring it to a 6x5.5 lug pattern, then again those colt wheels look pretty good 2
good luck, also might wanna be aware of the backspace if you plan on running bigger tires
Dtrock78 01-22-2012, 03:01 PM One of my buddys is telling me spacers put extra strain on the bearings? Anyone heard of that one? First for me.
granitex 01-22-2012, 06:30 PM they do.
piratex 01-22-2012, 06:35 PM ive never herd that before and a lot of 2nd x's have spacers. even titan swapped rigs roll around with rear wheel spacers.
