I bought my X to have something cool to pull a trailer with. I will be buying a motorcycle soon.

So does anyboby pull anything? Ever?

I will be this summer. Gonna pull a jetski so should be pretty similar to a cycle. I work with a guy who had a friend pull a big ass boat with his. As in a sailboat. Ill ask him how big it was but it sounded pretty impressive.

In the near future, I want to buy me, the wife and the daughter our own quads. That will be pushing it, but I think she'll be able to tow it all.

I mainly pull a trailer with skidoo's and a quad in the back along with anything else I'm gonna need when we cross island for some trips. You will find that you're obviously going to burn more gas pending on the weight and size of the trailer and also what time of year it is. But with the Xterra so far I've had no problems especially with all the fucking snow we've had this winter. Once again just prepare to burn alittle more gas, thats all. :) Happy Towing.

I had a factory recall on my 05 X to reinforce the hitch. But I still have not tested it.

To reinforce it or to replace it? They should have given you an entirely new hitch.

I have an 05 that I pull 2 differnet trailers - 1 is a 16 foot boat the other is a 10 foot enclosed. The X tows like a dream. Just watch the total weight of the trailer. You wont have a problem towing - stopping is the issue if you have to much weight.

It's interesting that you mention the overdrive. I have been driving regularly with the od off. What do you guys think of that? Should I have it on? The truck feels like it accelerates easier with the OD off. At highway speeds I turn the OD on because with it off the RPMS are very high.

Any thoughts anyone?

overdrive is just a higher drive gear that the transmission shifts into when the throttle is low enough. it feels faster only bc its more responsive, if your driving say less than 30mph, and you accelerate, the transmission has to shift out of overdrive to the lower gear. i turn mine off when cruisin thru neighborhoods, better for the mpg if the trans dosent have to constantly shift in and out of overdrive, of course it works reverse, if your travelling at a higer speed, turn OD on, if not you will be revving real high and burning all kinds of fuel

Thanks great advice. I was thinking that I just needed an expert to tell me.
