looking at some 15' d-lock black steel wheels on craigslist and was wondering what backspacing I should look for?
Thanks Guyz

What year x do you have. Guessing first gen for the 15" wheel request. But dont want to assume.

^It says 2002 in his info.. But he could be lying.

The real question is.. What lifts do you have and what do you want to cut?

If you have an SAS, then you can fit almost any backspacing. If you have a stock, you want to stay under 4.5in.. really you want to shoot for 5in or 5.5in.. unless you want to cut some serious fender.

Also look at the width of the rim. Most craigslist wheels are 15x10. Sure that sounds great, but you have to buy tires to fit that.. while that shouldn't be hard, you then have to think about how much wider it actually is going to be. The stock rim is 16x7 with a 5.5in backspacing. If you move to a 15x10, with a 3.75in backspacing. Your wheels are going to be sticking out roughly 2in wider just from the backspacing alone, and on top of that be 3 inches wider. So do you have that 5 inches of space in your wheel well? I sure don't. I know the craigslist wheels look tempting, I have been there.. But you need to look for the right ones and take your time.

TJTJ is not a fan of the 10in wide wheels anyway as you can get the same tread width while maintaining a smaller wheel, I can't remember what the dimensions of his wheels are.. but I am sure he will chime in soon.

i have on 2002 thats stock height with bilsteins shocks and am currently running 265/70r17 general grabber a/t2...and i just found a craigslist deal!
4 d-lock basic rim 15x8 chevy 6lug which is 6x5.5 for $60!
what does the center bore have to be in size? and also can i fit center caps on them?
i should be able to run 32/11.5r15 as long as the backspacing is correct?
i dont want them sticking to far out.....
thanks guyz

Correct, but also make sure the bore will fit on your hubs.. that is the diameter you want to see, but you can also ask the person if you can "test fit" the wheels..

(ignore the lug pattern, I know that it is for a jeep..)

That should work, my experience comes from owning a 00 Frontier, but it should be the same.

The Xterra does indeed have a lug spacing of 6-5.5 so that's not a problem.

The wheels on my truck have a 4" backspacing or 15x7 with a 0 offset, I don't know the tire size off the top of my head, but I've put basic Discount Tire Pathfinder AT that are around 9.5" wide and never had issues with fender rubbing. 11.5" seems quite wide for a first gen without a body lift. Depending on what you're ultimately going for you may have to lift and trim and such.

The grabber a/t2 i have right now metrically are very close to 32' and i rub just a tiny bit on my mud flaps....and those are the exact rims roadwarrior posted. So can i get center caps if the bore is right then?

Just thought I'd share these links regarding back spacing & offsets.
This was when I was on an ATV forum, I believe it basically gives you the
idea of back spacing & offset even though it's geared more towards ATV rims.

I just found out the inter diameter size for the bore and its 4.25''...and my stock s/c rims are 4''...so these will work......?

I'd want to match as close as possible to the stock 5.5" backspacing... which would be 4.75" if you're looking at Soft 8s. I'd imagine the D window wheels are the same.

I would say that they would be fine, but I would double check with a mechanic.. just to be sure.
