driving home last night my xterra just stopped running. gas pedal went soft and dash lights came on. now it wont start. just acts like its not getting gas. is this a fuel pump?? electrical..?

driving home last night my xterra just stopped running. gas pedal went soft and dash lights came on. now it wont start. just acts like its not getting gas. is this a fuel pump?? electrical..?
What year? Engine Size? Mileage? If you have a cap and distrubtor check to see if the rotor is turning when you turn the key. If not then it could be your rotor or timing belt. Check out my thread of the 04 just up and died. There are post of some people trying to help me with the same issuse you just asked about.
