I recently replaced the KS and OS on my 02 4x2 V6 (no SC). Read here (http://www.clubxterra.org/forums/showthread.php?p=24836#post24836) for more info... but long story short it is idling very high. It stays at 1500rpm and will not go below. Doesn't matter if it is warm or cold either.
If i rev up the gas, it goes up and then plummets down but as soon as it gets to 1500 it catches itself quickly and pulls it back up to 1500. It is pulling pretty good as well... ie if I take it out of park it will go without me even touching the gas pedal... I could probably do 10MPH or so.
I am looking for some ideas on where to start to troubleshoot this one...
I am new to forums and new to working on my truck but not new to working on cars...
Heard of an IACV and an adjustment screw near the TB.. but any other help would be really great.

NOOOOOO don't touch that.
The idle is adjusted by turning the big screw that comes out of the IAC. You can see the head of it on the drivers side rear under the upper intake manifold.
I am thinking you may have a vacuum leak somewhere. Did you check that the mating surfaces were clean and free of old gasket when you put it back together.

I had the same problem in one of my **cough**jeeps**cough**.. I believe it was the TPS but it could of been the IAC, its been so long... but it was sticking and I would just tap it a few times with a hammer and it would unstick it.. It was just one of the sensors attached to the throttle body...

OK, so I got out of class last night and went back into the garage. Since I typed my original post I have been replaying my teardown/rebuild in my head. I kept stopping on the gas pedal cables... I recalled thinking that there was waaaay too much slack in the gas and cruise control cable so why don't i tighten it up a bit right? So last night I opened it up and looked at that first... sure enough, I had tightened the slack up so much that the TB could not close fully! Doh! The stop pin on the gas pedal wire wasn't even touching the stop so I loosened both of the cables and started her up and sure enough after a little warmup period she settled into a nice 700-750 RPM.... I re-tightened up the nuts and then just to be sure I took some of k1w1t1m's advice and reckecked my vacuum hoses. All but one seemed tight so I replaced the factory pinch collar with a new hose clamp for added measure!
Hopefully this does the trick.... I'll drive her for a few more days to see if she behaves, but I think I am in the clear.
Thanks for the suggestions ....

You know what they say, "Go where man last was". Yeah, and don't touch that adjustment screw. That might fix things sometimes, but it's not what's wrong. You'd be masking the real problem that causes improper idle to begin with.

Ah, I see. Thought you may have been talking about those preset adjustment screws.

no no no no... i never mess with that screw cause i know it needs to be at a certian spot and if its not it will cause problems just like on the good old motor scooters i was raised on... LOL
