Way to go, thats what I was hoping you were going to say!! Another fairly cheap and easy mod is a Idle Arm brace, a must have if you plan on wheeling or even running big tires... You may already know about them maybe not, just wanted to throw that out at ya...

yeah the guy at AC told me i might want to look into getting IA brace but im running 31" in tires on it right now with no problem steering.the IA brace was goin to be my next mod but never heard u cant go off roadin with out it just need to keep a half inch gap between my turn stops....

i am a structual engineer so i could give you a long technical answer because thats what I do for a living lol.. but in short there is a lot of pushing and pulling going on at that joint and with the idle arm brace it stops alot of that, thus preventing alot of damage down the road.. but you can go offroading without one, you probably wont have any problems today, tomorrow, a month or even a year from now, but for the aprox $35 you cant go wrong for the added safty it brings.. I dont even do any hardcore wheeling but I thought what the hell either $35 now or a couple thousand later on...

I recomend the Total Chaos brace as it is the best design.. It does require you to do a little painting though but its no big deal...

Check it out though..

wow... i just read though all that and NO I am not a rep for Total Chaos or anything, I and well a good portion of members think they are the best..

you are going to do the home made body lift right? its about 1/3 of the price as a pre packaged kit..

oh and i have never really looked into snorkels, mainly because I have the K&N intake but how much do they cost??

X2 on the Total Chaos IAB

It is a solid design and it's a mod you can do in 20 minutes. Think of it as a $30 insurance policy on the trails.

I've done the majority of my wheeling so far without an IAB and since I've gotten mine, one of my buddies blew a head gasket; another has some unexplained whistle/whine coming from his engine; and a third had his repo'd. So I haven't been able to do any wheeling for the past several weeks and I'm starting to have withdrawals.

Oh and did I mention that all 3 of those buddies drive JEEPS!!!!

thats what happens when you have a solid front axle.... you cant get get a IAB.. so see get a IAB or you are gonna have some bad heebeejeebies on your tail!!

make sure you confirm the list because there are a couple different parts list floating around... i remember when i was putting together my BL I printed the parts list and went to Tacoma Screw (a local supplier) and they looked at me like I was stupid because they didnt even understand it and its their job...

Yeah that is partly my Bad actually. I asked for a parts list from a friend, and that is what I got so I copied and pasted it.

Derek, we will get you squared away soon dude.

Next weekend we will go over what mod to do next.

I've got you covered bro!

Just don't look at James' mod list for your next one.

btw - getting the cheap mods out of the way first will only frustrate you in the long run. While you are making progress on your build, it will take you even longer to save for the big stuff.
