two weeks ago i was driving home from class when i noticed that the airbag light started to blink. i called the dealer (who i'm not fond of) to ask what steps i need to take to fix this and why its happening in the first place. the service guy told me that it could be a sensor or something to do with the seatbelts. and to make sure that i'm wearing my seatbelt because the airbags may not go off in an accident. being an extrication technician i know how precious my airbags would be in an accident. the gentleman in the service department was "too busy" to give me an explination that made me comfortable so i decided to take my problem to another dealership. they fixed the problem next day and thankfully it was covered under warranty. since i was away when my dad picked the car up for me i never did find out exactly what was wrong with it.

driving to dinner tonight with my girlfriend i undid my seatbelt before the car was in park and noticed HEY THAT DAMN LIGHT IS BLINKING AGAIN!!!!!! :pullout: i know that there are a couple very knowledgable people on this forum and by a couple i mean like more than i can probably imagine. as well as a couple nissan tech's? please give me some insight into this? i haven't touched the battery or anything since it was fixed. this is just a little frustrating. any help will be much appreciated and the sexterra should be going into the shop this week.

From my understanding, the air bag is weight sensitive. It happens when my gf sits in the front or if I put a box on the seat sometimes. If there is a certain weight on there it wont deploy the airbag because its similar weight reading to a child which would injure them if the airbag went off. Dont worry about it blinking, just have her sit on the seat with her thighs flat against the seat. If they are a taller girl, or a skinny person it will blink like that.

i'd love to believe it was because my 115lb gf was sitting in the seat funky but she's been in the X for more than half of it's miles and i've never had that before. the only thing i can think that went wrong was when i did the rolling undo the seatbelt, and stretch out to get out the wallet when going through the drive-thru window.

and thanks for the compliment! she loves to hear them! haha
