Just used the turtle wax kit and it turned out great on my girlfriends corolla. The headlight is plastic just like the x.

Looks good. I used the same kit on my frontier and my X and it worked great.

Same here... Used the same one also.

When using that clarifying compound rub with a dry cloth it makes a horrible sound!! I hope I don't have to do that again hah.

Hey guys so I see all of you are using some kit to clean the headlights of ur car but there's a much cheaper way! TOOTHPASTE not any kind of toothpaste but the arm & hammer that has a lot of baking soda (which also whiten ur teeth amazingly). Just rub it with a towel then wipe it off and that's it! Just thought I'd throw it out there... Let me know how it works for I.

That or a whitening toothpaste with a higher amount of polyethylene. Its just a pain when the toothpaste starts to "thicken" and gum up.. a good bit of elbow work but it does work :)

Cool, glad to see it works. I bought the turtle wax brand about a week ago. Maybe I'll get around to using it on the xterra today.

This is true guys toothpaste will work but it's more temporary. It's about the same as using just a restoring polish. While the turtle wax kit actually restores the lens then polishes so it lasts for a long time.

Megulars sells a plastic polish compound (liquid) $6....then use some wax after you are through polishing the light....I poured some on a mothers polish ball and used my drill, if you want to take it a step further then use some mothers / flitz polish next.

The kits are only multiple grades of abrasives, and then a wax protectant coating

if you want to provide maximum protection I would hit them with some UV Resistant clear coat....otherwise they will require a touch up shortly.

Also I have seen people apply several coats of clear in order to fill any nicks and scratches in the plastic, then start the process for the best possible results.

That rubbing compound would only last me a couple of week before needing at again (obviously without doing some drastic clear coating and stuff). Where as the Turtle Wax kit sands out and polishes the lens of imperfections so it lasts a lot longer. Not sure how long but 2 months and still looking good so far.

Wet sand with 2000 grit sandpaper.

Wet sand with 2000 grit sandpaper.

That works great but that kit comes with different levels off sanding pads for anyone who has never used it.

i hear rubbing a can of re-fried beans on them works just as good... budget wise of course

I just did mine last night quickly with taping off around the bezel.
I plan on doing it again in the Spring as it looked like a little more work
than I anticipated for taking the headlight bezel off for now.

I used the Mothers "PowerBall 4Lights Headlight Restoration" kit.
