: Beefed up my First Aid/survival kit!

I was checking out the X’s First Aid kit and it is surprisingly well done, and the pouch that the kit comes in is HUGE! You can cram a lot of survival gear in that pouch!

I took a trip to the Oregon coast on a sunny and warm February 3 day weekend in my girlfriend’s front wheel drive car. In those couple days a heavy snow storm hit the higher mountain elevations, of which we needed to pass to get home. We weren’t prepared for the snow and ice and it was white knuckle all the way home. We passed a few rigs that went slid off the road...! That got me thinking that you don’t always know when you’ll be knee deep in a bad situation. Always be prepared! Help may not come quickly so you gotta be self-reliant.

So, I bought the X to handle those times and beings I’m a guy who likes to be prepared, I added some items that would come in handy if the SHTF and I didn’t have my bug out back pack with me or other out door gear. Like going to the coast for a relaxing weekend only to need some high country gear!

It’s easy to get into trouble when you least expect it and it is reassuring that you have at least some gear. Too many people get trap or stranded in their vehicles many miles off road…

I like to keep the clutter down and things orginized inside my rig so I thought that adding gear to the first aid kit was perfect, keeps it out of the way and still have access to it.

Here is what I added to my kit:

Fire starters
Lighter
Whistle
Leatherman Micra
Light sticks
100 feet para cord
Collapsible water bottle
Water purification tabs
Electrolytes
Bandanna
Hand Warmers
Wet Ones
ACE Bandage
T.P
T.P covers

A few medical necessities I've added to mine are:

1 bottle of "Nu Skin" (to seal cuts and also is good to prevent blisters)
compass (GPS and the X-compass are useless if the batteries are dead)
micro-leatherman
small maglite
and a few other things I can't remember right now

Good idea with the light sticks. I need to add some of those as well.

Alright I saw you all adding stuff so I went ahead and did the same... ~50feet 550' cord, 100MPH tape, couple chemlights, med. scissors, lighter, AA batteries, and a extra headlamp. I think once I get the LOBO rack in there will be more.

Ah here you guys go.......pretty soon you'll have backpacks full of survival stuff to compare with each other! TEASING! Actually you all have very good ideas that I need to start copying soon because it truly does suck to not have even the basics.
Was it Json3904 who has his totally stocked with MRE's and such?

My only addition to the X so far has been my Captain Morgan canvas bag filled with 18 bungee straps in fashion colors for all those bondage hooks in the back, lol!

Oh and I finally got my personalized license plate frames and Xterra lighter. I'll post pics soon.

Where can one get a bag that would fit in the stock spot. I bought my X used from a dealership. Never even thought of it when I got it and when I got home I didn't wanna call the dealership back cause I didn't care for the sales people there. Plus the dam dealership was about 2 hours away from me. Needless to say this is one thing I would like it my X. I was going to buy a stock bag off ebay but....
