: Moab trip in the works... maybe
Mukiwa 10-02-2011, 10:40 PM I've been talking with a few friends of mine and we want to do a road trip next summer... One of our ideas is to go check out Utah and specificly Moab.
Since it would be a 4000 km trip I would like to see everything I can while I'm down there. So anyone who is from the area or has been there you can help me out by replying with links, photos, names of cool spots, tips on how long we need, or anything else! Even stuff along the way to break up the trip as we will be travelling thru WA, North Oregon, Idaho, and Utah. We will also be close to Colorado, Arizona..... ya you catch my drift. Heck this is going to be a 10,000km trip by the end of this lol.

AZ-Ted 10-04-2011, 05:53 AM You could spend an entire week in Moab. Not sure when you are planning this, but goneMoab XI is on the week of May 21-25, 2012. This is a very large gathering of offroading Nissans, and the most fun you can have with your X. There are many different types of trails available: everything from dirt trails, to moderate/challenging runs, to break your stuff rock crawling adventures.
Check out www.goneMoab.com for more information.
Also in the Moab area is Arches National Park. It is 2 miles north of town, and has some spectacular views of the sandstone arches.
alpine spirit 10-04-2011, 08:16 AM Best thing to start with is what activities do you want to do?

Anything like that, mostly 4x4ing... nice spots, trails (moderate), lakes or rivers etc. Im getting into photography and I've seen some amazing looking places so any tips directions etc would be sweet.

Im pretty good with the heat but honestly dont know what it is like down there in the summer... what time of year would be the best for 4x4ing, some hiking, anything outdoors.

Im definately interested in coming down for that! I'll talk to the wife as our second aniversary is real close to those dates... hmm I'll play it up as a romantic getaway... she'll get over it lol.
You know most girls get the idea that gone is all about guys just being macho and talking about trucks the whole time... But I know my ex who came with me the first year had a blast! She loved every minute of it, saying how beautiful it was and most of the nights we went out on the town or sight seeing... so really goneMOAB is more like a vacation then a four wheeling trip :D
Oh and by the way I am a local to Utah, so if you need any other recommendations just let me know. I don't do all the trails at moab I usually stick to the simpler ones but I do like the whole area and can pretty much tell you where everything is down there! :D

Sweet thanks!
I know my wife pretty well and she will prob say we should fly to vegas and rent a car... prob end up with a jeep or something gay lol but it would be cheaper and less wear and tear on the vehichle as its like 6500+ kms.. Makes scense but I want the X down there!!
Since we would be in Utah we would prob want to spend a day checking out the G Canyon etc what else would you recomend checking out??
-Canyonlands NP
-Arches
-Zion NP
-Grand Canyon
-etc
I'm sure all the places are awsome I just wont be able to spend months down there as much as i'd like to...
