hey everyone im having a problem putting my car into 4x4.My owners manual says to shift it without stoping goin under 25 mph but everytime i try to shift it down it has the worst grinding clicking sound coming from the wheels. anyone have a clue what it could be?? would my transfer case have anything to do with it...??? :(

Have you tried shifting while you are parked? It sounds more like a auto-hub problem to me and not your t-case.

yea i can shift in park from 2x4 to 4x4 high but it wont ever shift out right and i have to go in reverse to get my hubs to click out, just got a new auto hub and the other seems to be fine. just cant get it to shift into 4x4 while moving :(

have you tried throwing it in neutral then putting it into 4 high, then putting it back in drive?? And going in reverse with auto hubs it normal to get it out of 4x4.

yeh i can do that just cant get it to shift while moving and the prob with stoping and shifting it is when i apply the gas it thuds into place and can cause damage. would it be bad to it your brake and gas at same time???

I was saying throw it into neutral while you are moving and then throw it into 4 high, then put it back into gear. just make sure your doing under 25.

I'm thinking "X-Medic" or "EXT" (Emergency Xterra Technician) is a fitting title for James now.

Anytime I get a problem with my X, I'm just gonna make a post titled "MEDIC!!!!" hahaha
