I apologize for the poor photography! Is it possible to have a crush on your new rig? lol

Looks awesome!

Why thank you! I love how unique the X's look compared to the other SUVs on the roads. I can't wait to go camping and find some mud! It got a lot of attention at work on Thursday by Jeep, Hummer, and FJ guys. To me, there's no comparision so far, although I'd love to have IRS!

As in independent rear suspension?

Ayla
03-23-2008, 08:47 PM
Yes..........as in that. I really love going off-road but the local ORV park (Tahuya) just has too many damn branches and trees for my pretty paint job on the new X. I'm looking to find river beds, mud, and washes now lol.
If I didn't have to sell my Bronco fast and had unlimited funds, I would have done the frame-up resto it desperately needs and figured out how to put IRS in it. But it's got to go. :(
Maybe the '09 Xterras will have it......?

Independent suspension is an off road killer! Are you aware that a lot of people completely lose their IFS and put a solid axle under there?

Ayla
03-23-2008, 09:52 PM
No I did not know that and would have done my homework before committing tot he idea. I always thought it was an added benefit to crawling up stuff. I guess it's all moot now since the Bronco's going away. But thank you.

If you are serious about this there is a MOD you need to do to replace the stock rear axle diff breather with a tube running up behind your right rear light to keep the water out of the diff.

You used to wheel at Tahuya huh? I had my old '81 2wd Datsun out there for a little fun a couple times. Took the stepside once, but the trails just weren't challanging enough to make it worth the gas. And yeah, the full size got a little friendly with the trees. Trail is a little tight, don't think I'd take an 08 out there either.

Awww....buttercup! :) You guys are sweet. I like the looks of all gen X's. I'm in love w/ my friend's 03 S model in superblack; would you believe he's NEVER taken it off road? That's gonna change Labor Day weekend, there's an ORV park in the Capital State forest near Olympia I want to check out. The one in my county, Tahuya, would completely trash that paint job and I'm not looking to go rough on it anytime soon. Need to find wide open areas and mud, not branches! :)

Nice new rig! That color on the off road trim is super rare. I looked through hundreds of dealer Xterras the other day to see only a handful of OR's on lots (and only 1 in this color).

Normally I feel the "2nd Gen" is a hideous, malformed, unholy abomination unworthy of the name badge, but that color really looks fantastic. Congrats!

Interesting. The way people view the same thing is fascinating. I feel the first gen looks cheap, hollow, malformed, underpowered, rushed and weak. But i guess to each his own. But im glad we both like Xterras! Something to be said for that! =)

I'm willing to bet the 3rd Gen will be such a giant disaster of design that we'll all be laughing at the poor saps who buy them soon enough, so it's all good :)

Seriously, though, that shade of blue is freakin' gorgeous.

Nice X man, love the color, and the lack of step rails.

What kinda Bronco did you have? I actually was inches away from buying a Bronco instead of the X, but the guy was selling it for a really low price, and he wouldnt let me drive it off the lot. The owner was just a sketchball in general. He didnt know anything about it, he just bought it becuase he wanted to go offroading and then never got into it. Anywsie, This Bronco could have been mine for $1,500. I would have bought it no questions asked if I was older, (like not 17 lol) but I needed a car that was reliable, and didnt have a sketchy history. Offroad ability was second on the list, but a far second. It would have been a great second beater though, its a shame, sometimes I still regret not getting it.

I didn't know the OR models had that navy blue color option cuz I've NEVER seen one around here nor in the catalogs for that.
