Went to the gun show to trade my old glock 26. Wasn't expecting to get 350 for it but i did and traded it for my brand new Glock 38 GAP .45 caliper. Bang!

Mike:

Let me know how you like it.

I qualified on pistol with some beat up "Property of the State of New York" .45 ACP Model 1911's...one was from about 1912 or so and still had the bluing! Talk about an arm thrower! Also fired more modern versions that were parkerized.

One of the newer ones kept ejecting it's shells square into the bridge of my nose. Quickly removed the slide and fiddling with the ejector, fixed the problem. My cohorts were not at all sympathetic and laughed their a**ses off when I fired that first clip.

I always have thought that for close quarter, .45 is the way to go. I feel sorry for my buddies who got saddled with the Beretta 92F in the sandbox. Over engineered and whimpy caliber weaponry is not good. We should take a lead from soviet weapons...their stuff is "peasant proof" --dunk it in a puddle, bury it in mud, don't clean it for weeks, wipe it off and it still goes bang....the government .45 is like that. The ones we used rattled they were so worn out, but they worked and weren't bad for accuracy. Gives a grunt that warm fuzzy feeling that no matter what happens his bang- bang will go bang :)

Thats exactly why i upgraded from my Glock 26 to the 38. I wanted a bigger bang. I'm just hoping i didn't bite off more than i can chew with the .45. I was dead on with my baby glock 26 which was a 9mm. I'm hoping with a few rounds i can be just as good. I just downloaded the application for a license to carry. I plan on getting my license soon.

I had an xd .45 gap tactical. It was a decent round but ammo wasnt that easy or cheap to come by. I shoot as much as i can, around 1000-1800 rounds a month.

Some people say that a bigger cal is better, but if you pay attention to the ammo that is being produced now days, a 9mm hydrashock does the same amount of damage as a 45 hollow point.

Me personally, as i said, i shoot a lot and often. @ 25 yards, groping is 1/2" center mass. A 45 gap holds what, 13-15 rounds at the most with one in the chamber? A 9mm holds 22+. With the right ammo, and plenty of combat/ close quarters training, tactical work, (not just stand in a range and shoot 500 rounds) a 9mm would suffice any situation and you wouldnt have to worry about running out of ammo. Cause if they are still standing after 20+ rounds........ you better fukking run. As far as a bear stopper.... negative, the bear would maul and kill you before he died from the rounds you put in it. Unless its a s&w 500.

But the glock is, well......... Perfection. Cant go wrong with a glock. I now have a Sig Sauer p226r in .40, we got a great deal on it so i picked it up. Next will be another glock in 9mm or an xdm in 9mm. Hope you enjoy your new gun, they are lots of fun. Talk to you later man.
