Pretty soon, it will be all powdercoated and purty. A little bit of welding, a little bit of grinding, and a little bit of $aving, and a new compressor and sexiness will abound. 2 new trim pieces coming too.

that is really tight soccerbrace.

Quick question after looking through your build thread. I see you have the smittybuilt clinometer all wired up. I have looked all over to figure out if it is 5v or 12v, but can't seem to find jack.

How did you wire yours up?

soccerbrace
09-30-2009, 09:23 AM
Thanks dude! I What I did is I wired mine up to the dimmer switch. This way, whenever the gauges are on, the inclinometer is on as well. It also dims with the rest of them.

I have to get a fire extinguisher bracket for the back. I went to the only place that has like EVERYTHING safety, and I could not find it. That is what I did during my lunch break, drove and got pissed. Once that is there, the I can weld that on.

Next, I just have to drill some holes in the angle iron to place the wiring loom clips. That is it.

Alright, you guys wanted some updated pics, so here it is! Here are some better, more detailed pics of the rusted hatch:

http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h27/soccerbrace/10-18-200927.jpg

I think you guys might be starting to like that look now. I bought $40 worth of new emblems, and recently(not pictured), I painted my rear hatch handle and the little plastic turd on the gas door.

Also, there are highly anticipated pictures or the acclaimed cargo rack. It is at powdercoating today so here are the finished UNpainted pics.

Huge thanks to Concept-Customs for the time and effort on this never-ending project.

sweet nose-ITCHING ( I promise) pic, athough I do still pick and flick, and occasionally pick and chew if the current food could use a little salt.

http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h27/soccerbrace/10-18-200924.jpg

Sorry about the last pic, I cannot rotate it bc there is something wrong with Photobucket at the moment.

Anyway, That is a 3Dcell maglight, this maglight holder that had to be modified, a steel fire extinguisher holder that was welded on there, a Kidde fire extinguisher with a gauge, a Tripp-lite 750 inverter, and a VIAIR 480P. We mounted the Viair with 4 nuts welded on the back and washers with wingnuts so that it could be quick mounted and dismounted for portable operation.

I think you should rust the whole truck and paint all your bumpers, sliders, and exo a gloss black...

That would look so sick

soccerbrace
10-29-2009, 11:21 AM
I think it would look sick but serious deterioration would happen on so many parts. I do not want to replace a rocker or something like that because of on purpose rusting you know? That ish would get expensive.

Steeze
10-29-2009, 11:53 AM
What if you rusted it and then had a clear coat applied over the rust... I bet if you had a couple layers of auto grade clear coat professionally sprayed on it would retain the look without further deterioration.

soccerbrace
10-29-2009, 12:29 PM

looks sick james...going back to the rust for a min...what about doin a "ratrod" style paint job? you could do spots around the truck with rust and then paint the rest with flat paint and not clear it that way you dont have to worry about early deterioration with the rockers and other stuff ur worried about...that way you have your rust and then have your problem areas painted...its a win/win

soccerbrace
11-27-2009, 11:47 AM

Brandon, still have the Calmini 3" and the 2" BL on there.

Drake thanks man! Shelby has been good, and she deserved a nice present.

The rubbing only occurs in reverse. It DID happen in Drive, but I turned the wheels left and smacked the pinch seam in with my sledge, and repeated for the other side. I can get still turn all the way in it and I have just as tight of a steering radius.

soccerbrace

Yeah, they are halfway built. On a freeze due to budget. I have all the SC X rims off and I was going to use those for the SAS. I would have to put Chevy ends on my Ford axle to make that bolt pattern work. It's all about the budget right now. THat's the only thing holding me back. 2 years ago, I was putting about $500 a month into my X, now I just put gas in her.

So, my buddy who was storing my Dana 60's got a jeep, and I had to take them back into my possession. This means that I have 2 dana 60s in my apt. lol 1 at the foot of my bed, and the other is hangin out in my living room :).

Luckily, I just so happen to be getting back on my feet again at the same time. I have decided that my sidework money is my play money now. With that said, I pulled a few parts (disc brake conversion brackets) and rear differential covers and took them to Rocky mountain memorials. They do gravestones. They sandblasted all of those parts for $25 bucks and they did an incredible job. Next, I took them to Excalibur powdercoaters and they are going to powdercoat them in a dark hammered gray

From there, I am going to rust the skull in the middle, and do my gas tank lid at the same time. Will post up when I am done :)
