: Fitting 12.5" Wide Tire.
ChaseB1991 09-06-2011, 06:36 PM I'm trying to fit a 33x12.5 tire on my second gen, what lift should I go with? And how much trimming will need to be done? I'm installing a 3" lift this weekend and love the look of wide tires. I don't really want to run wheel spacers so how should I go about doing this? Pics of a 12.5 anyone?
piratex 09-06-2011, 07:25 PM i would look at the cost of a titan swap. thats pretty much your option i think unless you trim your fender alot but even then i think without the ts youll still have major frame contact and possibly other places too.
ChaseB1991 09-07-2011, 09:20 AM Well what would fit with a 3" lift possibly more? I'm trying to learn the limitations of the sizes from a stock and lifted aspect. I'm new to the X. But know just about everything about the dodge ram lol
Jgbimle 09-07-2011, 12:39 PM I could be wrong since I have a first gen and dont know too much about second gens but if you can clear 285/75r16 at stock height with the "melt mod" couldnt you easily fit 33x12.50 with a 3in lift?

Thats what I'm guessing, there looks to be plenty of room under there if I went about things the right way. Im gonna take a stab at fitting 12.5's with no Titan swap. I fit 35x12.5 on my Ram with no lift, so lets see what happens here.
Also if anybody has done it, running 15" rims on a second gen. Im wanting to run 15s but they wont clear the rotor. Is there another alternative to running wheel spacers?
drbandkgb 09-07-2011, 09:29 PM YEs Melt Mod is all thats needed... 33s fit the Gen 2 easy.. PS I dont know of a 3" lift for a Gen 2... I know most lifts are 2" and you can do a 2" Body lift..
If your looking for lifts look ar PRG

What do I need to fit 12.5? I'm not worried about the height as much as I am the width.
The lift is from PRG. 3" Spacers and Shackles.
Xterra Mike 09-08-2011, 06:44 AM you don't need spacers or a lift to fit 12.5's

Awesome, by chance do you have any pics?
piratex 09-08-2011, 05:51 PM see ive always been in the understanding that the 12.5's would hit the frame at full lock but i would love to be proved wrong bcuz i would love to be able to run a nice fat 12.5 when i upgrade.
ryandavenport 09-10-2011, 04:44 PM 12.5s will hit the frame. 285 is THE ABSOLUTE WIDEST tire that you can run on an X that is lifted less than 2 inches. Wheel spacers will cause it to hit the fender really bad instead of the frame. I guess you could run 12.5 inch wide tires, but you are going to rub the frame a lot, regardless of whether you have a 2 inch lift or not. The only guys that run wider than 285s are the ones that are Suspension and body lifted, or titan swapped.
Alastor 09-16-2011, 09:10 AM You'll definitely rub on 12.5"s. hell, my 285s rubbed a teensy bit when I first had them. I plan on doing a 2"BL on top of my 2"SL, so I can run something wider, but I think I'll have to get new wheels first.

12.5" WILL rub on the frame at full lock. you can't run ANY 15" wheels on a 2nd gen without a wheel spacer. the front calipers are too big. there are a few people running 295's but they have 2.5" to 3" suspension lifts and/or body lifts as well.
if you run a wheel spacer, like ryan said, it is going to rub SERIOUS metal. I have 265's on stock S wheels w/ spacers and MINE rubs pretty well. Can't imagine 12.5's....
Fuznuck 02-13-2012, 08:12 PM So will 12.5s fit with a 2" SL and a 2"BL? Never saw a straight answer above.
ryandavenport 02-13-2012, 08:26 PM You will have to do some fender trimming, and it will probably still rub at full lock.
