I am looking at the Xterra. I was in the market for a used Cherokee. I don't know alot about this vehicle so any input would be great! What trim model is best? Is 4X4 a must or is the 4X2 capable enough? What about the off-road capabilities? Please feel free to send me any info that you think would be helpful. the 4X4 is great for snow here is SD. It will however eat more gas.....

I doubt I will off road this vehicle much since it will be brand new. I live in Texas, so I probably will never need it, so I guess I should just save the money and get a 4X2. What kind of reliability does this vehicle have?

from what ive read before I jumped into buying mine they sound as if they are bulletproof. Im a member on a few gun sites and there are alot of owners with them and have never touched anything but the oil filter. there are 4-5 with 200,000+ miles and not a thing wrong.

If you never (ever) plan to off-road then get the 2wd and be happy. But I fear that once you own the X, the desire to take it off pavement will be to great to resist.

I would only take off-road if I had to. With it being brand new, I would have no desire to take off-road. Just too nice!!

My point exactly. My dad is saying that right now. He has a 4x2 Tundra and really want a 4x4 now. It's better to have it and never use it then to not have it and need it.
