Some people forget that there is ALWAYS the custom option. So when shopping around for armor and such, you can always go to a fab shop and get stuff done. These were made by my friend Jed who owns Armorology.

Enjoy!

They wrap really closely to the body too.

They are 2"x3" box tubing and .120 DOM steel x 1.75" with center supports

Dude! This is too friggin' weird! I just emailed a guy about doing some custom sliders. You're starting to creep me out man! :hypnose-big:

How much and what's his turnaround? I'm ready to buy sliders NOW!!!! And I can't wait for the turnaround Shrock has right now.

Nice work! I love those sliders! They have some sick bumpers on their side under customwork. Go to Toyota and about halfway down their is a white and gold toyota with some sweet bumpers.

Thanks for the info.

Drank, They cost an arm and a leg......

$500-unpainted if you have to know, but as you can see, his work is incredible

His turn around is pretty good though. If you want, I can pull mine and have him make you some.

Yeah that is some very nice fab work. I would pay that for sliders though but the shipping charges would be the nail in the coffin for me not to get them. $500 would be my max, shipping and all. There's a lot of fab shops here but none want to delve into that type of stuff. There is a custom chopper shop here I may talk to though. Not to mention the company I'm going to work for has their own design team and machine shop. Hell I may just build my own. I just know I've got to get some protection for my rig soon. I'm sick of having to dodge stuff because of clearance issues and pampering it on the trails so I don't trash my rockers.

We've got to start pestering more fabbers like Total Chaos to expand their lines into xterras. I mean they've already built a project x so it shouldn't take too much pushing to get them to at least start fabbing some skids or something.

Why don't u just order shrock, and just wait for them to come?

Drake

Because the waiting list/turnaround on Shrock right now is unreal (6 to 10 months) just for skid plates. I don't even want to know what the wait is for sliders or bumpers. I would go with Shrock but I can't go the rest of this year without armor when I know I can find something with a turnaround of 1 to 3 months max.

Did u call Jim, last time I checked he had sliders and skids in stock, he's not that backed up anymore. I might be wrong.

I'm going to call him next week. Getting ready to start a new job so I want to get all of that settled first and get the income started going again before I drop some serious change into my rig.

I was talking with a guy about shrock skids and he had ordered a complete set and so far has only received one skid from him and it has been several months. You might be right and I would think that he would keep some type of inventory on them.

What I'm trying to figure out now is how an offroad shop near me sells Shrock sliders for $100 cheaper than Shrock and supposedly guarantees a 3 to 4 week turnaround.

I'm also going to call AC about a set of Skid Row plates for my X too.

Drake, I called the dude, and he is backed up for an entire year. He needs more workers basically

Drake

Thanks bro...

I found an off-road shop just minutes from my house that specializes in custom exo-cages and they say they are willing to fabricate anything a customer wants so I'm going to talk to them in person tomorrow and see what they can do as far as sliders for me. If they can't do it for what I feel is the right price then I'll call Jim and that other shop Monday about picking up a set of Shrocks.

Personnaly for $500, I would want some better welds on them. Before you all start, yes I am a welder by profession. I have done everything from production to custom fab.

Maybe those are just bad pics, they are very nice welds.

Well I'm not knocking his skills, by all means. But in the 2nd pic bottom left corner of the support, the welds dont look like they join.

03-20-2008, 06:18 PM
no they do not join... that is somthing you might want to look into james.....

soccerbrace
03-21-2008, 09:22 AM
Yeah, you are right, they don't join. Thanks for pointing that out. Will call the dude up and have him fix it. Should be a quick fix.

OK-just looked at them:

some places that it looks like they are not joined, they are

and in other places, it is indeed not connected.

These are made by the same guy/group that did the exo-cage on JohnnyShaps xterra (XOTM nominee).

I like the design and his work gets very very good reviews. He's also done pre-runner bumpers for Xterras and race racks for frontiers.

Maybe they do alot of referals so they are able to offer a discount?? Only thing I can think of..

James those sliders look NICE!!! To much money for my blood though.. I have thought about going down to the local community college and going to the fab/welding dept and seeing if I can get anything done there for the CHEAP, I mean I know they have to do projects every once and a while haha...

I noticed lately they did up their prices but they are still a bit cheaper than going through Shrock and I'm thinking the same thing. They may have a distributor account set up with Shrock so they are able to get a discount.

Either way... I think I've found the guy and the design I want. Hell if he can encase an xterra in a complete rollcage, I'm sure sliders are second nature. hahaha

whats he charge, or is this a custome 1 time only for you??

Drake
05-07-2008, 04:23 PM
His are $350. He fabs up all types of armor and a lot of guys in my NOAS club run his stuff and say it's top notch.

He's done JohnnyShaps Xterra (the XOTM nominee with the exo-cage). Houdini's frontier he did pre-runner style and it's kick ass. He also did a pre-runner bumper for Johnny until he went to the exo-cage this year. I'm not sure if this is a hobby/side job or if he runs an actual shop but he is open to taking orders it seems.

If you or anybody else is interested, I'll ask him about it. Those sliders pictured are actually weld-on but he is trying to track down an xterra and fab up mounting brackets for mine.

cbzdel
05-07-2008, 04:39 PM
Do you have any pics of his pre-runner?? I guess I could PM him lol.. I would love to have a pre-runner pumper for the X but I have yet to find a style I like and could have fabbed up for a decent price... I talked to a fab shop once and showed him a pic and he said $700 I was like this just a pics you dont need anything else to make a quote, he goes I said $700 take it or leave it... Damn for $700 I might as well get a shrock...

I just really dont wheel hard enough to justify spending that much on armor, sliders I would like just so I can use a high lift but other than that stock has been good to me..

Here are some shots of stuff he's done on 2 rigs. The xterra is JohnnyShapx. I think this was fall of last year. The last pic is a shot of the tire carrier/jack rack he did on a frontier as well as rear bumper.

if you look at it anyone weather it be personal or a company like shrock you are going to pay alot for shipping... that's why you ship freight and be done with it....

Noish
06-30-2008, 11:29 AM
for shipping, if your company ships stuff see if they'll let you use their account to make the arrangement and pay the company. That's what I used to do for shipping pallets from NV to OK and saved a ton b/c of the company discounts

i'd be interested in something. whether it be bumpers, skids, or sliders. and i think a couple of tanks of gas might be cheaper than shipping...
