Drake 03-12-2008, 09:12 AM Sweeet! Damn... you guys are making me want to buy a project truck so bad and I haven't even finished modding my X yet!
json3904 03-12-2008, 10:11 AM yes the yota is pretty nice you just have to watch out when you sit on the tailgate... LOL
soccerbrace 03-12-2008, 12:11 PM WTF! THe lifted car in the background!
Very nice rig D. Did you have fun cleaning that mud off? For weeks?
Ricer-X 03-12-2008, 12:32 PM lol, yea, the taurus(thats how we do it in the sowf bruh)
its on a blazer platform
there still mud on it, though its mroe sandstone now, gonna hose it down tonite actually so i dont need a chisel to install the BL!
there are far more pix of the taurus the the general sams pic thread here
http://www.clubxterra.org/forums/showthread.php?t=2541
json3904 03-12-2008, 01:30 PM yes dustin spray the BL mounts again with pb blaster so we dont catch hell when we are doing tha BL
Ricer-X 03-14-2008, 10:54 PM teaser phone pic of the new meatz

Drake 03-14-2008, 11:19 PM Mmmmmm.... beefy!
Nice. I can't wait to get wheels and tires on mine. My priorities list is going ape-shit right now. One day it's armor, the next it's tires.
json3904 03-14-2008, 11:43 PM ive gotz dibs on the old ones!!!!!!! LOL
Ricer-X 03-17-2008, 06:04 AM got the bodylift on, and the 33x13.5s
between json, myself, timmy and ed we got done in just under 7 hours, lol
one of the pbody bolts had fused to the floor of the truck, after grinding and hammering, big swole takes a wack at it(like 20 whacks) and breaks it loose!
the body lift was so simple, we took of the fan shround, loosened the steering link, and bam thats it, nothing else required for 3" BL on the yota
i was huungover like a mofo too, god i felt like hell
so the pics are gonna come soon, just waiting for everyone to upload the pics to my photobucket
Radney711 03-17-2008, 09:56 AM sweet deal man if its that easy I am def gonna have to put one on my yota!
Ricer-X 03-17-2008, 10:14 AM finished product is about 1" lower than whats in the pic
also my old(json's new) swamper 31's are on it in this pic
will have more as soon as jason's woman uploads her shiz to my photobucket
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y124/Ricer-X/4%20runner/Body%20lift/DSC03677.jpg
Ricer-X 03-17-2008, 01:50 PM ok folks
here are the rest of the pix
one of the body bolts somehow fused to the body, took quite a bit of grinding and hammering to get it out(when you see me grinding and ed hammering, thats why, lol)
alsothere are several pics of the front of the yota at nite with one new tire on the left and the old tire on the right for comparison
this job would have been alot easier if i had
a. cleaned the GDamn truck
b. sparyed the body bolts with ob blaster once a day for a week before doing this
but, alas we got it done, now onto the pics
oh yea, and BIG thanks to Json, once again we successfully tackled a major mod in my aunts driveway aka my shop

Drake 03-17-2008, 04:52 PM :thumbsup-big: Lookin' good!
I don't see near the number of guinness bottles and southern comfort laying around compared to when you guys did Json's 3" SL. :mocking:
Ricer-X 03-17-2008, 04:59 PM thats bc we had all partied hearty and crashed the previous nite at our place
i was so hungover all day that when i moved my head fast i got super dizzy

Drake 03-17-2008, 09:48 PM :laugh-big: That's awesome!
Man I tried to pour a drink Saturday and I shit you not... my liver tried to make a run for it. It's still pissed at me after what I did to it last weekend. We aren't on speaking terms right now. hahaha
Ricer-X 03-21-2008, 10:13 PM today i cut the fenders so i could use my full steering range
fixed the shifter
dropped the radiator
punch a hole thru my super clogged catalytic converter media(got the sexy rumble back)
intalled the idle arm gusset
replaced the pitman arm
and fixed the driver side speaker
krys helped a LOT, it was great working on my rig with my wife
the baest part was that she was so enthusiastic about it!
i have pics(all daylight), will upload them laterz
soccerbrace 03-21-2008, 10:26 PM That is awesome that your wife helps with working on your rig. I wish my GF would do the same!!!! I would love to teach but I am just getting impatient with so many mods going on at the same time.
I need to just chill, and focus
The old school 4 runner is the only other 4WD vehicle I would want. That thing is so sick and has so much potential
Ricer-X 03-22-2008, 07:18 PM here are the pics from yesterday
with the wife helpin, the kid runnin around, and the yota

(ella ella eh eh eh eh eh eh)
LOL!!!!!!!!!!
Ricer-X 04-03-2008, 06:29 AM ok so i gota overheating issues now
here is a list of shit to buy/get done before memorial weekend
1. remove ac condensor(dont have ac and its in the way)
2. electric fan- mounted either in front the rad as a pusher of replacing the factory fan
3. weld on the flowmaster muffler that was removed form a crashed burnt truck that we found buried in the woods
4. buy/install lift shackles and 1.5" ball join spacers then adjust the torsion bars to gain another 1.5" of lift(prob 2" in the front)
5. performance air filter
6. replace tranny and transfer case oil with redline MT90
7. add water wetter to coolant and hope in conbination with the electric fan my overheating issues will be gone
8. replace the antenna and the side view mirror that got torn off on the trail
9. bolt the hitch reciever to the frame
soccerbrace 04-06-2008, 12:05 AM Drake, the one that I am about to buy says that it is the last year of the removable top. It is an 87' This is BS right?
json3904 04-06-2008, 01:01 PM i say BS cause dutsins is a 89 and it has no top.. LOL
Donatello21 04-06-2008, 01:20 PM badass runner Dustin
Daman 04-07-2008, 09:09 PM 84-85 - 1st gen removable top w/ Solid Axle. :2cool: 85 being the most sought after for solid axle and fuel injection. Although 4 cylinder the 22RE is a bad mofo.
86-89 - 1st gen removable top IFS, 3.0 3vze v6 introduced
90-95 - 2nd gen different body style IFS w/ rear coils instead of leafs, no longer w/ removable fiberglass top. some 2-doors still made for 90-92 however 4-door's mainly from here on out. Ah and toyota decided to go w/ a 2 wheel drive 4-runner as well.

I signed up 2 nights ago, I am awaiting activation still.
Is that 3VZE motor pretty strong? I was looking at the 87 with IFS, I would sas it.
Ricer-X 04-08-2008, 06:12 AM IMO the 3.0 is strong, most of the other yota guys complain about its weakness
obviously its more stout and less fuel efficient than the 22re, but its all about the gearing my man
Daman 04-08-2008, 08:15 PM 3.0 is a good motor reliable just not real mod friendly. I believe there is an all yota 4x4 junk yard in Colorado somewhere that would probably be a good start on looking for an axle as well
Ricer-X 04-11-2008, 12:43 PM just ordered
performance air filter
new pass side view mirror(tree ripped the original off)
new "in car" antenna(tree ripped stocker off the hood, lol)
high output alternator(gonna keep the stocker for a trail spare, the new one puts out TWICE as much power)
new windshield wipers
redline synthetic gear oil(MT90) for the manual tranny and the transfer case
new thermostat
lift shackles(rear)
still to order, ball joint spacers
mwahahahah
Ricer-X 04-12-2008, 06:23 AM just orderd the Redlin MT90
and the 1.5" ball joint spacers from 4crawler
i am DONE....
WAIT! FACK! i still need back seats!! lol
Ricer-X 04-14-2008, 09:05 AM THE SEARCH IS OVER!!!
i found a rear bench seat out of a mid-late 80's 4runner to stick in mine!!!!
dude at the salvage yard only wants $100!!!
i feel so alive!!
Ricer-X 04-15-2008, 08:08 PM picked up the seats, they are tan so they dont match, and they are in better shape than my front seats, lol
pulled the starter today, havent opened it up
hey j, what if i do like robby joked and put a cord around the flywheel and pull start it, i think that'd make me a pimp, lol
jk, ima open it up and clean it and hope it works
my in-car antenna, 1.5" ball joint spacers from 4crawler, and pass side view mirror arrived today
Drake 04-15-2008, 08:19 PM I swear on my life if I saw you get up on your 4runner and pull start it by the flywheel, I would absolutely piss my pants laughing!
:laugh-big:

mgblanke 04-24-2008, 08:43 AM Yea its huge and the thing is there is about a foot of height difference from my hood to his and im sitting on 35s with 6 inches of lift...its HUGE...hes also got a custom bumper on the front that he built himself...its sick man!
Ricer-X 04-25-2008, 08:45 AM i got 6 quarts of redline MT90, 1 quart of redline water wetter, and 1 quart of redlin PS fluid fucking missing, it was delivered to the leasing office at our apt's on 4/18, that day krys went to pick upt he shit that had been delivered, and she got 3 boxes, i didnt know until today that the redline stuff was delivered off the same ups truck
the office dosent open til 10am, sorry lazy bastards, so ima called them bc it was delivered to the office and signed for by PUGA whoever the fuck that is, bu i know they are always the person who signs for my shit
im not happy, maybe its a good thing they dont open til 10, ill be able to calm down by then
json3904 04-25-2008, 09:36 AM you know where to chop them at HUH????
Ricer-X 04-25-2008, 09:43 AM i just called the office, they have my shit there
json3904 04-25-2008, 10:34 AM well shouldnt they have told you or put a note outside tha door saying they had yo shiz
Ricer-X 05-16-2008, 06:11 AM update
so far i have;
changed tranny/tcase oil to Redline MT90
installed rear seats
removed ac condensor
fixed overheating problem
replaced starter
still to do;
E-fan conversion
high output alternator
sideview mirror
in car antenna
1.5" ball joint spacers
lift shackles
Ricer-X 09-23-2008, 02:38 PM i need gears
but oh they are so expensive
$400 for front and rear, then ill prob need someoen to install em for me, i dont know if i can do it
but stock tire size is 28" and im runnin 33x13.5 on a 10" wide steel wheel
not only are they way taller but way fkn heavier too, my clutch sheds a tear everytime i put the truck in gear
silverbullet 09-23-2008, 03:08 PM Look on the bright side man. They arent $450 a set like the ones for the X.
Ricer-X 09-25-2008, 01:40 PM FINALLY DECIDED ON SOME SHOCKS FOR THE RUNNER
http://www.4wheelparts.com/Lift-Kits-Suspensions-Shocks/Procomp-ES3000-Series.aspx?t_c=1&t_s=90&t_pt=3306&t_pl=1819
will order them when i get home tonite, then when they come in, the wife and i are gonna install em along withthe 1.5" lift sitting inthe garage since march, for a roof height of 7" higher than stock
silverbullet 09-25-2008, 02:01 PM Lets see some pics!
Ricer-X 09-25-2008, 02:04 PM of what? how it looks currently?
Ricer-X 09-25-2008, 02:08 PM most recent pix i have, it hasnt left the garage since may

Drake 09-25-2008, 04:05 PM Since May? DUDE!!! You've seriously got to quit neglecting your rig bro. It's going to hate you for it. lol
Ricer-X 09-25-2008, 04:08 PM OK OK IT has come out of the garage but only to be moved around for the sake of moving around
i start it every 2 weeks or so, its damn near out of gas though
if i lived there it would be tinkered with far more often, but its about to be tinkered with fo sho real soon
im also gonna remove the radiator drop i put on, its not needed after im done my rad wil be 5" higher out of the mud than it is now
Drake 09-25-2008, 04:13 PM Sweet... protecting the rad is always a good thing.
json3904 09-25-2008, 07:10 PM yeah and since we didnt reuse the fan shroud we really diddnt need to drop it.. LOL
Ricer-X 09-26-2008, 06:09 AM thats the kicker, the fanshroud wont fit withthe drop on it, but the top half will fit if a take the drop off
X_X_X 09-28-2008, 07:29 PM I had an 87 4-runner and I loved it! I had to give it up when I got married so we could get a mini van for easy access to put babies in and out! Now that I am divorced I figure I'll pick up where I left off before I got married so I got an X since the 4-runners arent as off road friendly as they used to be!
Ricer-X 09-28-2008, 08:19 PM i agree, the runners now are quite so hardcore anymore, i feel the xterra has taken that place now, the 80s yota trucks were/are BAD though
json3904 09-28-2008, 09:59 PM ep just like the 80' hardbodys and the 90's pathy's LOL
Ricer-X 09-29-2008, 06:26 PM ordered the shocks just now
should be here before the weekend so that means lift install starts this weekend
json3904 09-29-2008, 06:58 PM what brand did you end up going with????
Ricer-X 09-29-2008, 08:39 PM those procomp 3000something, i think i posted em above
Ricer-X 10-01-2008, 10:52 AM shocks came in, pay no attention to the messy apartment

Keyz18 10-01-2008, 10:56 AM Little do those shocks know...of the horror's that are in store for them :D
teXasaggie 10-01-2008, 11:09 AM i sold a 2000 tacoma to get my X, before that i had a 4runner, god do i miss it, and my first ever truck was that TY100 thing and kicked ass, i never ever got stuck, kinda afraid to get my X dirty bc i dont think it can match up to my Toys....
Ricer-X 10-01-2008, 11:15 AM the X is gonna surprise you, the toys are losing their offroad prowess as they get newer where as nissan is gaining it
its always a good idea to wheel your stocker befor you start modding it, that way you know exactly what neeeds the most improvement
soccerbrace 10-01-2008, 11:30 AM i sold a 2000 tacoma to get my X, before that i had a 4runner, god do i miss it, and my first ever truck was that TY100 thing and kicked ass, i never ever got stuck, kinda afraid to get my X dirty bc i dont think it can match up to my Toys....
I bet your X can surpass your Toys, Especially the T100 and it's long wheel base.
json3904 10-01-2008, 11:47 AM i think kylee should be the new model fo the shocks.. LOL
Ricer-X 10-01-2008, 11:55 AM she is actually gonna be on the cover of the 1st ever "Ladies of Yotatech" calendar, with this pic
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y124/Ricer-X/4%20runner/werkz/DSC03740.jpg
krys is gonna be in it too but i dont knwo what pic they will use
json3904 10-01-2008, 11:58 AM looks good.. LOL
soccerbrace 10-01-2008, 11:59 AM Haha, cute
Ricer-X 10-06-2008, 06:54 PM ok
so sunday, json and noobster were over, j was helpin me lift the 4runner
oh dear god what a pain, we broke so many seized up bolts, including a grade 7 tbar adjuster bolt
the shocks i ordered were not long enough, everything gave us trouble, my jack and jack stands arent high enough anymore(21") we had to use a combo of json's power and a pry bar to get the new shackles in
and had to cut alot of flange off the upper control arm so the bj spacer would fit
we lifted the rear and the driver front, didnt even get to the pass front bc nothing went smoothly
there is currently only 1 shock on the truck(not counting steering stabilizer0
ok so, i have a alot of pix of my daughter 'fixin" my truck with various tools, sticks, pieces of plastic, etc but those are in their own thread, so now onto the pix form the non-kylee work

Keyz18 10-14-2008, 10:50 AM Wow, what a project!
Ricer-X 10-14-2008, 11:11 AM its never ending bro
ive decided im gonna ask my buddy to weld the rear end, fortunately yotas use a "3rd member" basically the guts of the diff are removable as one piece, so i can just take that to him, but i gotta finish everything else so i dont have to worry about moving it, though fwd wouldnt kill me
Keyz18 10-14-2008, 11:20 AM That's what it looks like!
Glad to see that you're making progress. That's definitely a sweet project rig!
Ricer-X 10-27-2008, 09:09 AM well, finished the lift yesterday(still need rear shocks but the front are on!)
the backseats are bolted down and ready for asses in them
now all i REALLY need to do is cut that damn cat off and run my flexpipe exhaust and get/install the rear shocks, mount/secure the YJ bikini top over the rear seats
thing i WANT to do before dec 6
change oil
seafoam
install high output alt
clean radiator really good(still has a lil mud in some places)
fix the interior antenna so it actually works
goodies for january!!!!
5.29 diff gears(from 4.10 lol)
new clutch
lock the rear end by either weld or lunchbox
skoobysx 10-27-2008, 10:24 AM NICE Dustin!! Not a bad rig! I like toyotas, they are the best for mud runs!
Ricer-X 10-27-2008, 10:33 AM SORRY WE DIDNT HAVE THE CAM THIS TIME SO NO PIX OF either me or the kid or the wife getting dirty under the toy
krys helped me bust the grade 7 tbar adjuster bolt, i thouhg we were gonna get it out without issue but the last 1/4" seized up
Ricer-X 10-28-2008, 08:32 AM sweet action!!!
my wife is about to head up to the local 4wheel parts store to exchange my way-too-short procomp shocks for some just-right skyjackers
how fkin massively awesome would it be if they had them AT THE STORE!!!!
id be happier than a whore in babylon to have all 4 shocks on and be TOTALLY done with the lift by this sunday!!
and then i can order the freakin windshield channel off a jeep so i can secur that damn bikini top over the rear seats!
so close!!
json3904 10-28-2008, 09:54 AM Don't forget that you are at my house this weekend! Lol and don't say "so close" cause you know you will never be done with that rig. Lol
Ricer-X 10-28-2008, 10:02 AM i meant done with my current endeavors
and ill be tinkerin sunday ifi have the shocks, i may just go swap the alternator
man, 4 years ago i couldnt have done any of this shit, look at me now!! i talk about it like its nothing but time, which is how i feel about it
in 4 years ive become one hell of a driveway mechanic, if i could just get this welding shit down there'd be nothing to stop me
unclehardrock 10-28-2008, 10:14 AM i hear you on the welding man....that is the one thing i wish i knew how to do. maybe someday i'll have the time and the cash to learn how.
the yota looks sick though. that is one serious trail rig you've got yourself there. i'm hoping my next assignement takes me back to corpus as an instructor. it'd be a bit of a drive up to houston, but i'd definitely take it to get the chance to wheel with you and jason and see that beast out on the trails!
Ricer-X 10-28-2008, 10:16 AM that would be rockin dude
as far as the welding goes, i have a lil 120watt arc welder, cant weld much with it even if i knew how, but i wont drop coin on a good one until i know what im doing
lmhin2003 10-28-2008, 10:59 AM that would be rockin dude
as far as the welding goes, i have a lil 120watt arc welder, cant weld much with it even if i knew how, but i wont drop coin on a good one until i know what im doing
All you need is some scrap steel and start practicing ebay has some good DVD's on how to get started.
Ricer-X 10-28-2008, 11:19 AM THANKS FOR THE TIP, ILL HAVE TO CHECK THAT OUT
i mean, ive read about it, but seeing it would be another story
i have a sneaking suspiscion that my either my mask is too dark or my work area is not bright enough, i have made a perfect bead... but it was 1/4" off to the side of where i wanted it and therefore useless, i may as well have bee drawing a picture
Brett89 10-28-2008, 11:47 AM that interior picture where you see a bit of mud, then more, then you move and its everywhere, just makes me laugh.
Ricer-X 10-28-2008, 11:52 AM lol
i know, im putting the fender flares back on, the tires stick out like 2" past the body, and they sling mud like crazy
aaaaaand
my shocks will be at the apartment tomorrow!!
Bluegrassen 10-28-2008, 11:58 AM Nice rig Racer! I hate mud but that looks fun.
Ricer-X 11-03-2008, 10:27 AM yesterday:
got the rear shocks on
broke my inclinometer trying to fix it
welded some exhaust on
drilled holes in the body and bolted the rear fender flares on, i hope they keep freezing mud out of the cab come december
next weekend;
finish up the exhaust
seafoam the intake
front fender flares
high output alternator(from a 60amp to a 120amp)
Ricer-X 12-22-2008, 08:42 AM gave her a bath, for the first time since ive owned her(bought in may 07)

Ricer-X 01-05-2009, 09:57 AM front pass. tire is leakin air from the outside bead
very slow though, im debating just bringin a 12v air pump or takin it to a shop
Drake 01-05-2009, 10:20 AM Take it to a tire shop and have them reseat the tire on the rim. You could have a little mud or a pebble that's caught in the bead. It's happened to me before. Or you can overinflate the tire to 50+ psi then deflate it and reinflate to see if it seats better.
Ricer-X 01-07-2009, 07:03 AM got the tire remounted, goodyear didnt charge me but those bastards left 80psi in the damn tire, im lucky it didnt explode when i let it drop out of the back of my X, the shit bounced up to my chest
and finally bled the brakes, and for the first time ever i was the one by the bleeder valve, i had ALWAYS been the on pumping the brake before, so now that i know what to do on both ends krys can help me
its amazing all the ridiculous work i do at me "shop" but i dont know how to do simple things like bleed brakes, simply bc id never done it, i made a custom exhaust for my runner but couldnt bleed the brakes, lol
all that needs to be done now is fix the washer fluid tank, and secure the exhaust to the underside of the truck
Ricer-X 01-12-2009, 08:41 AM so, the SAS itch is stronger than ever
so strong that i have become comfortable with the 4runner being down for a significant portion of time and started pricing shit
from all-pro offroad:
spring hanger kit - $190
shock hoops - $140
4" high travel front leaf springs - $280/pair
axle ubolt flip kit - $50
hy-steer kit - $400
will also need a custom front driveshaft, a donor axle, 5.29 gears front and rear, shackles for the front, and lift for the rear to match, i have people in town who can do the welding for me
first and foremost the truck needs to be running again, so, the first 2 things that get ordered are timing belt, brake master cylinder, spark plugs
Ricer-X 01-12-2009, 10:07 AM yep, talked to the wife
we are SAS'ing
end result
same tires
5.29 gears
lockrite front/rear
4" suspension lift combined with current 3" BL
havent decided on shocks yet
after i get it running and back in the garage im going to start cutting shit off the truck, like the spare tire stuff under the rear, get ALL the AC stuff out of the engine bay, maybe reinforce a few weak parts of the frame, basically cut off all the fat and excess
we have decided we are gonna turn our backyard mudder into a serious rig
Ricer-X 01-12-2009, 10:36 AM THANKS
i though my wife would be far more opposed to it than she was, i guess since im gonna take my time and spread out the cost its not a big deal to her
Ricer-X 03-15-2009, 03:46 PM changed the timing belt, changed idler arm bushings
steering is solid now, truck runs great
she is offroad ready again!!!
json3904 03-16-2009, 12:25 AM congrats on the repair.
alpine spirit 03-16-2009, 08:36 AM AllPro has some nice kits to work with. Congrats on the SAS!!!!
If the Toyota Frame was the same width as a Nissan alot of that would work (alot easier) with a Nissan.
json3904 03-16-2009, 09:15 AM he didnt sas it yet... i think they have pushed that back on the to do list
Ricer-X 03-16-2009, 10:28 AM yea, since i got laid off sas is on hold
buckethead47 03-16-2009, 10:52 AM damn that sucks i cant wait to see it sas'd
Ricer-X 06-16-2009, 08:16 AM ive been busy since ive been out of work, doing as much for as cheap as possible, these pix are on another thread here, i forgot to update the build thread though
and dammit for being out of work!! i mean good god, seeing the rig like james' and kevin's be all kinds of hardcore has motivated my like hell, but i cant afford anything more than what ive done, hell, it dosent even start unless its pulled by the X.
once the income starts flowing again the list
mig welder
sas +driveline upgrades for massive tires
chopping the body to turn massive tires
shaving as much weight as possible
bc lets be honest here, granted the runner performs spectacularly at the local parks, its just a lifted truck with big tires and a snorkel
as of now this is how she is sitting in the garage

Ricer-X 06-16-2009, 09:54 AM thanks
i just now(like JUST now) put a silver stripe over where the red and black meet, only on the hood so far, cant decide if i want to do the rest, its too hot now so i wont do anything else til tomorrow morning
Ricer-X 06-16-2009, 09:56 AM will take a pic today and post, gotta shower all the dirt and sweat off, didnt a little weight reduction with the grinder too
Keyz18 06-16-2009, 10:26 AM Nice!
Looking forward to seeing it!
Ricer-X 06-16-2009, 04:29 PM gonna stripe the sides and rear tomorrow

Ricer-X 06-16-2009, 04:31 PM sorry for the crappy cell pic, but our cam is currently mia
TN4x4Xterra 06-16-2009, 04:52 PM Looks good!
Before you do the list of mods...I think the number one on the list is to get it started without the X pulling it, lol
Ricer-X 06-16-2009, 05:25 PM needs starter, this will be the 5th one i install so it dosent even get put on a list, its just a given, lol
but this next starter i get, i am gonna rtv every damn seam int he housing, and im even gonna rtv where it mates with the bell housing
TN4x4Xterra 06-16-2009, 05:28 PM needs starter, this will be the 5th one i install so it dosent even get put on a list, its just a given, lol

Sounds so damn appropriate! :mocking: hahahaha
Ricer-X 09-03-2009, 04:47 PM lol
finally got the starter, installed it, jumped it, and it ran
for about 15min. then died, but it didnt weaken or sputter, it was like someone turned the key off and there was zero power left, no lights, nothing
and there is a screeching noise coming from inside my tbelt cover
any suggestions for why it died like it did?
i havent gone back and jumped it again, its storming now, rather not get electrocuted today
Ricer-X 09-03-2009, 08:06 PM talked to my buddy danny, he registered here recently and is in the market ofr an X or fronty
anyways, he thinks i have a short somewhere
still havent looked at it
kbell2433 09-04-2009, 07:44 PM Well in my 87 pathfinder if the batterys compleatly out of juice it wont run, try a new battery

Ricer-X 10-15-2009, 08:51 AM ok, hella 500s installed, new plugs, new headlight housings, new brake booster, new p side tie rod end, new rear p side wheel cylinder, new rear wheel bearings, new starter, home made skid(really a splash/mud guard to protect my engine bay) out of 16ga galvanized steel
now all 4 brakes work, the truck stops, its beautiful
noticed a slight leak from my front pinion seal. ill just carry some extra gear oil with me this trip, it actually isnt leaking enough to drip on the ground, but its damp with fresh gear oil, has been for a few weeks, still have yet to see a drop hit the ground
soccerbrace 10-15-2009, 09:37 AM That thing is looking sweet bro.
Ricer-X 10-15-2009, 09:38 AM thanks man

json3904 11-02-2009, 04:57 PM looking good cant wait to see it finished...
vandebogart 11-02-2009, 06:21 PM Niiice. what color is it gonna be?
Swordfish 11-02-2009, 06:24 PM Did you prime the turn signals too?
midget28 11-02-2009, 06:43 PM Hey Ricer I guy that wheels with us is wanting to lock the front of his runner and hes been wondering about how it will wheelbeing locked. Is yours? I told him it would prolly be hell on the CVs but he should do it anyway then put a straight axle in lol.
Ricer-X 11-02-2009, 06:55 PM yep, my turn signals dont work, theyll be painted black
havent decided on the color yet, gotta shop first
midget, what year runner is it?
if its a 1st gen like mine id recommend against locking the front, the entire early toyota
ifs is weak, esp if he has oversized tires, i say he should get a true trac LSD for it instead, or lock the rear
mine however isnt locked, will put a lock right in the rear when i get the $, which shouldnt be too long, i can install it myself
Ricer-X 01-20-2010, 05:23 PM well, been tinkering
tried to install a radio(out of my sister's 06 sentra ser) have only 0.06v to the switched 12v+ wire
reinstalled my fender flares, the entire body is silver now, flares match
have been bench bleedin the master cylinder(since i lost brakes AGAIN last trip) STILL have tiny bubbles coming out, and its not a few here and there, its quite alot of them. starting to lose my patience witht he brakes
replaced ANOTHER starter, totally sealed it though AND i put a mud shield separating it from the wheel well
have a slow drain on the battery, im sure it has something to do with the radio bc i didnt have the prob til i started screwing around with it, the drain killed my battery
going wheeling in 10 days for a whole weekend
AND we are bringin the kiddo
drbandkgb 01-20-2010, 07:47 PM Right on! My son loves to wheel with me! Need to post some new pix!
Ricer-X 01-20-2010, 08:17 PM ill get some new pix of the truck when i get it out of the garage, im certian the master cylinder is actually bad now, ill be getting a NEW one tomorrow, not a used one like last time
RATTFINK 01-20-2010, 08:20 PM Nice 4Runner! :)
Ricer-X 01-24-2010, 11:19 AM replaced the master cylinder with a new reman.
MY BRAKES WORK!!!!1
im so excited about being able to stop, you know i was afraid of hills? you know how embarrassing it is to drive something like this and be scared of hills?
alpine spirit 01-24-2010, 11:21 AM Brakes are over-rated... just get more armor. :)
BigDog107 01-24-2010, 11:56 AM Did u finish the paint?
How did the master cylinder install go? Strip out any fittings? Lol
alpine spirit 01-24-2010, 12:03 PM Did u finish the paint?
x2
Ricer-X 01-24-2010, 12:20 PM mostly, the roof isnt done, but unless you at least 6-6 you'd never know
i stripped nothing installing the master, ive removed and reinstalled so many times in the pst few months its ridiculous
anyways, still havent gotten it out of the garage yet to take pix
will have pix tomorrow
Ricer-X 01-25-2010, 12:59 PM http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp229/krysrenee/4runner%20updates/DSC09204.jpg
alpine spirit 01-25-2010, 01:00 PM I digg it!!
unclehardrock 01-25-2010, 01:02 PM looks bad a$$ man. looking forward to seeing it in action this weekend. my x is filthy right now, needs to be washed horribly, but i figured there's no point to it at the moment since it won't be staying clean over the weekend
Ricer-X 02-12-2010, 10:39 PM was offered a solid front axle off a wagoneer from a buddy!!!
will be giving him all the ifs stuff so he can 4x4 his 95 2wd 4runner.
good stuffs!!!, so the quest for the remaining sas parts begins.
ps. json this is not the axle i offered you, that one is still in louisiana
Heavus 02-12-2010, 11:42 PM sick yota. i looked at the first page, then just flipped to the last one and i was like "Oh Shit".
good job. you should paint it yellow and put a pacman decal on it
Ricer-X 02-13-2010, 06:03 PM lol, thanks

Ricer-X 02-13-2010, 08:43 PM lol, just wait, gimme a few months, it will be a bad mofo
the only huge money ill have to spend is new tires/gears but its gonna righteous
i have the stock steelies im gonna have to have small tires put on to get the runner in the garage after this, prob have to use them to get it on the trailer too, havent decided on a size for the new meat yet, but the runner will be large and in charge, lol
greentennx 02-14-2010, 05:20 AM Hell yea! Damn you 4runner is looking good, and can't wait to see it with the SAS.

Xterror04 02-15-2010, 12:18 PM Just read through this thread... good looking truck... Not sure if your in need of any parts but the guy that owns http://www.frontier4x4.com/ always drove a truck just like yours around town.... So when reading this thread I though of that and just thought I would share!
midget28 02-15-2010, 04:37 PM Nice to see you doing an SAS are you going to upgrade the tires?
Ricer-X 02-15-2010, 06:20 PM eventually, thats where the major $ comes in, gonna rock the 33s til i can afford to drop $1500 on tires
ive chosen a size though.... later to be disclosed
Ricer-X 03-14-2010, 12:03 PM clutch release took a shit
ordered a new clutch kit today, yay for orielly discount

GPD605X 08-25-2010, 02:34 PM any update on your runner? Sweet rig!
Ricer-X 09-27-2010, 01:59 PM havent touched it since march, lol
ran it about a week ago though
going to pick up a transmission jack from a buddy tomorrow, then im gonn astart gettin her ready for this wheeling season!
new front bearings, a new caliper, diff fluid change, new pads/shoes
hopefully i cant finally get the brakes working, lol havent had working brakes in like 6 wheeling trips, gonna be weird being able to stop
RATTFINK 09-27-2010, 02:14 PM Awesome!!! I'll go with you to General Sam's . :D Hopefully by then I'll have 33" BFG KM2's
Ricer-X 09-27-2010, 02:36 PM shooting for early december or late nov, prob early december though
J Everett 09-27-2010, 02:37 PM havent touched it since march, lol

I laughed a lot at that bit. :)
I might try to make it out there for a wheeling trip. Gonna have to ride shotty with someone; I don't think my 2wd and 2.90 gears are up to anything besides forest roads.
RATTFINK 09-27-2010, 02:53 PM Cool!
Ricer-X 09-28-2010, 08:21 PM im shooting for early december for a trip to the park
ill for sure make a thread once i pick a date
Ricer-X 10-16-2010, 11:07 AM gettin in to the clutch change, and did an ignition tune up.
started her up and she didnt really run right, revved it and heard some faint squeaking/rattling
check the oil...
i previously though my front diff pinion seal was leaking, but the puddle under the truck is in fact the engine leaking, i have no oil in the engine, well, enough to touch the very bottom of the dipstick.
most of the oil has leaked out in the 7 months it was sitting
sigh
more oil and maybe some stop leak when i get to work, lol
Ricer-X 11-13-2010, 01:38 PM well, clutch is changed, trans is back in and bolted up
bout ready for the december trip to general sams!
Ricer-X 12-28-2010, 10:15 AM so, im in the process of deleting my egr system, i believe it to be the source of my woes(exibits all symptoms of an egr stuck open), since i do not need to pass inspection or anything else like that rather than spending money replacing it im just stripping it and capping everything off
its obd1 i dont think ill have any ecm problems
in this process when i removed the egr from the intake manifold i see inside the manifold is filled with nasty oily carbony gunk, i meant its tremendous
so, i now pulling the intake manifold too, figured id get the leaky as hell valve cover gaskets changed too
im still in awe of the condition of my intake. i not sure where all that grap came from, but i have some ideas. anyone feel free to venture your own opinion
since i sunk my 4runner at the last wheeling trip its had a pretty bad misfire starting at warmup
i have changed my ignition coil, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter, thermo time switch, coolant temp sensor, water temp sending switch, and flushed the engine
i seafoamed the intake 3 times in the past 2 weeks
Drake 12-28-2010, 11:09 AM Dammit son! Soaking the block in degreaser is about the only thing left to do. :D
I bet it will be running smooth when you're all finished and ready for the mud again.
