what year? i only ask because the plastic gets really faded with time and the best way to get the original color back is to run a heat gun on them. if your working with a newer year, "Back to Black" is awesome, but like all the other oils and detail products, they wear off quickly.

Most people on here paint them once they fade.. Back to Black works fine but after rain looks lousy. The heat gun looks promising but the idea is fairly new. I have only seen one write up on it.

Fading on a 11?? If i were you get some of this stuff. I've heard nothing but good about it as it seals too so it doesn't fade as quick as back to black.

I had to order the stuff online and yeah it wears off, it's just the best stuff I have used personally. That fast wing stuff sounds pretty cool

I use a Stoner product called Trim Shine. It's good for about two washes or good rainy drives on my extremely faded plastics. The thing I like about it is that it's easy to use and if you get it on the paint it just wipes right off. Some other things I've used were a pain to wipe off of the paint because they just smeared everywhere. I haven't used Back to Black or many other products for that matter so I can't really offer an opinion on what I think best.

I wouldnt recommend the heat gunm because I read some place somewhere that its pretty much the same concept at "back to black". The pigments or whatever is in the plastic, rises back up to the surface, after the heat gun is applied, but after a few weeks, it goes back to the faded state it was before you applied the heat gun.

I'm going to just repaint the bumpers and molding on my 02. Lasts longer if you do it right

Painting the plastics is about all you can do to permanently address the situation. The plastics on the xterra oxidize extremely quickly, and it doesnt surprise me that you are having this problem so soon. I've never really cared for the back to black look. I have used the heat gun before, and it lasts, but it will still fade eventually. Your's is new enough that you may be able to shine them and add some type of UV protectant to them and that may keep it looking new.

Just paint them and you will never have to worry about the problem again
