The Calmini crossmembers make it really easy. They won't fit the X, but they were designed for the Pathy! I did mine cheap and easy.

Nice start though! Love the Pathy!

Hmm, didn't know there was a PML for the pathy. You've got the coil sprung rear end right? What do you do back there? I'd love to know, if you've got a link or something. I've got a pathy myself that might be getting bumped down a notch from daily driver status. Might be time for some mods. :mocking:

json3904

you get the jeep grand cherrokee front coils and put them in the rear, then you get new uca's and crank the TB.... the uca's are like $200 and the coils you should be able to get from a junk yard for less than $50, then you have whatever shocks you want to put it.... either way it still costs less than anywhere else.. lol thats why i call it the PML... oh and you get 3" lift out of it....

pvfjr
03-12-2008, 12:09 AM
I'm guessing the new UCA's come from AC? And you don't have to make any changes to the links out back? Can't you crank it a bit without the UCA? Maybe 2"?

json3904
03-12-2008, 12:11 AM
they say to get the uca's from rough country i believe... and i bet you could crank it just like the X then put coil spacers in the rear.... i know mine needs new shocks so that is on my to do list.. LOL

i will be trying to mount my tow bar to the pathy this weekend and i was wondering what yall think about this idea???? it will be removable so when i get to the park i can take it off and put the hook back on......

http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h255/jsongrl/clubX%20stuff/towmount.jpg

i just noticed the bracket that i am welding to isnt to scale... it is only 1/4" thick

json3904
03-13-2008, 10:58 PM
****BUMP**** i need some ideas so i know if its going to work...... if yall have any other ideas let me know, i am looking for the metal so i can start this tomorrow afternoon.....

Damn dude... wish I could help you out on this one but I'm not sure I'm in any condition to give advice on structural integrity at the moment. :kaffee-big:

I think I have the basic jist of what you are wanting to do and it sounds like a good idea but I'm gonna hope somebody of clearer mind chimes in here and helps you out. hahaha Sorry bro...

Well I'd probably have some input for you, but I'm not sure what you're getting at. You have a picture of the bracket and bar? I'd have to see where the stuff is mounting on at, and how you're attaching the bar. What's the difference between what you're doing and how the kit is normally designed? Also, I'd make darn sure that the welds holding it are good ones. Practice on accessories and what not, but the tow bar should be legit. I'd hate to think about the pathy coming unattached on the freeway.

So what's the material in question here, square tube? What's your wall thickness, or is it plate?

json3904
03-14-2008, 08:34 PM
the material i am using is plate steel... i am mounting to the place where you put the factory tow hook... ( same on all nissan trucks ) i will drill two bolt holes where i will mount them.... the reason i am building the bracket is cause 1 dustin cut up one of the brackets and 2 there is no place to weld them straight to the pathy... also i have a pro welder doing the welds for me.....

pvfjr
03-14-2008, 10:08 PM
Well if you got a pro welder doing the welds, I'm sure he'll be able to give you the structural insight you need. I don't really know what everything looks like, so I can't really tell you much. I like to make things overkill though, that I can tell you. And if those tabs sticking out are 5" long, they ought to be tube or something, or 1/2" plate and up. Something like 5.5x2x1/4 plate sticking out that far would easily bend sideways - unless gusseted.

json3904
03-14-2008, 10:30 PM
gusseted gusseted gusseted you bet your arse it will be gusseted... LOL i will post up some pics of what i come up with as soon as i get it made.....i have no doubt in my mind that will work......

whatever i do before i will take it on the road i plan on playing tug-o-war so to say..... i will hook it up and have my girl in the X and me in the pathy, i put the pathy in reverse and have her pull forward at the same time...... if it holds then we are good to go.. LOL

Drake
03-14-2008, 11:11 PM
I want video footage of that! :fan-big:

json3904
03-14-2008, 11:39 PM
i will see what i can do about that..... LOL

pvfjr
03-14-2008, 11:48 PM
Sounds like you got a plan then. Gusset the gussets if you have to....

And upload the tug-o-war vid! Might even answer some questions I have in my head concerning my X vs my Pathy. I'm so conflicted.

json3904
03-14-2008, 11:53 PM
yes i will see what i can do about the vid.... and i guess it all depends on where i do the tug-o-war the X has a mild a/t and this weekend i will be putting ltb's on the pathy..... i just need to remember to take 30 sec vids so i can post woth no problem.... LOL
