So after shooting some rounds at the range. I got an idea in my head and drew it up, here's the results. It would work with my previous purchase of the xoskel lower lightbar for the 2009-2011 Xterra. As well as work with the lines off the said vehicle. Just wanted feedback. Is there room for improvement and where?

Thanks

I think it's a pretty cool looking design

I really like how the front face seems to stick out that's why I love the Hefty Fab bumpers so much. IMO that really makes them look awesome and unique when compared to a Shrock or something that is just all one level the whole way across

Looks good...how tall you thinkin this would be though?

The only thing I would like (personally like if it were mine) is to have the top of the bumper stick out a little farther from the front end than what you have designed...mainly for placement of MOAR fogs! :D

*Edit: oh! And x2 on the Hefty Fabworks note ;)

Oh and why design it around some one else light bracket?
If its a one off.. Im sure you can add lights where you want

It's cool looking. I agree with Dave it looks kinda heavy but depending on what you make it out of that could make a diffrence in the weight.

@xterror04, that plan has been partially scraped. As for davi-d.. Yeah ivr already purchase the lightbar and still wanted to use it down the road.

im sure if you want a real prerunner bar, lose all that sheet metal. you only need one flat in front, keep the sides open or filled, the less the better. looks nice though, i'd use that design for thick metal applications to push zombies aside, lol.

Looks cool and reminds me of Optimus Prime from Transformers.

If you ever want to turn your sketches into digital solid models(and aren't looking to make money producing bumpers), I can help if you are interested. I have both of the leading mechanical design software packages and can put together solid models fairly quickly. Once a basic model is created, dimensions can be tweaked, weight can be estimated, and production drawings can be made for the fab shop. The software I have will also perform failure analysis if you want to take it that far. I have several iterations of front and rear bumper designs that I've been messing around with for the 1st gens. I haven't done anything for the 2nd gens yet but it would be fun to play with those too.

Like I said before though; I'm not interested in commercial production but it seems like it would be fun to help others refine their designs while I'm designing and building my own. Let me know if you (or anyone else) are interested.

^ that's really nice of you dude...that would be some handy software to have. I have gotten pretty good with AutoCAD over the last few years (end of high school/freshman year of college) and could design stuff quick if I had the software but it's too pricey for me  for now anyways lol

You can always goof around in Google Sketch-Up. That''s how I did the designs of the deck extension I did for the mother in law (I was half way done when someone turned it in for no permit. Didn't think we needed one, and in the end we don't for the township, it's for the county or something?)

I admit I suck at it and it was frustrating, but at least it's free and you can do some 3d modeling stuff

Had a busy weekend but I'm back now. Couple of questions:

1. Can you get some rough (or better) measurements between the factory mounting holes on the frame horns, distance between mounting holes and bottom of grill, and overall width measurements from fender to fender. We just need a decent starting place and we can refine things once we have the initial model together.

2. You mind if we use this thread to post the progress? Others may be able to offer useful suggestions as this starts to come together.

Let me know and I should be able to get started sometime this week. Talk to you later...

I don't mind if you use this thread to post the progress. I couldn't get you a rough estimate because my vehicles in Florida and I'm in South Carolina.

But ill post up a thread and see if i get a ring on those measurements.
