: 2008 Subaru Forester (on steroids)
Arthrogrian19 06-11-2011, 12:30 PM My daily driver is a 91 Subaru Loyale and my weekend toy is a 2008 Subaru Forester XT Sports. I've had the FXT for a few years, and its served me as a daily driver, mild off-roader, gear hauler, canyon carver, etc. Now that we have a few more vehicles, it's become more of a garage queen.
It's currently pushing around 300 wtq/whp with the 4-AT. I'm planning on a larger turbo this Summer to get closer to 350 whp. Here's my current mod list:

Macland 06-11-2011, 02:55 PM Nice man, and now you've got a Pro4X! That's quite the collection!
soccerbrace 06-11-2011, 04:44 PM Sexy, my next ride is going to be a lesbianmobile for sure :)
KChurch86 06-11-2011, 05:14 PM Nice ride! Never been too crazy about Subies, but the more I see modded up like this, the more appealing they are.
vandebogart 06-12-2011, 09:29 AM Nice lesbaru! lol ;)

Thanks! I've been missing our ability to venture off the beaten path, so the X should be a great vehicle for that.
Sexy, my next ride is going to be a lesbianmobile for sure :)
Thanks - that stigma definitely adds to the 'sleeper factor.':)
Nice ride! Never been too crazy about Subies, but the more I see modded up like this, the more appealing they are.
Thanks - they really are great vehicles, turbo or naturally aspirated. The aftermarket for them is quite large, since they're very very similar to the STi and WRX.

Macland 06-12-2011, 02:43 PM //threadjack: check out the group buy for the 2nd gen weathertech products, you could order a set for your X and a set for the subie all at a discounted price: end threadjack\\
xearth 06-12-2011, 02:52 PM Looks tight! The WRX STi has been calling my name, and I think that may end up being my DD
Rons04X 06-12-2011, 03:07 PM nice subie! id like a WRX (non STI) as a DD someday

Thanks, I'll take a look; I do need some rubber mats for the Xterra.

Thanks! An STi would be a good daily driver, if you can resist modding the bejesus out of it. They're a bit overpriced in my opinion, though, especially for used models. Seriously, check out the 04-08 FXT; same engine as the STi or WRX, depending on the year. Insurance is cheap ($62/mo, full coverage through USAA). They haul a ton of stuff. They're easy to mod, and aftermarket parts are easy to find. You could find an 04/05 FXT with 60k-80k for $10-13k. The same year STi will be $5k more and has probably been beaten on. :)
nice subie! id like a WRX (non STI) as a DD someday
Thanks! They make great daily drivers, and can easily attack an auto-x, rally-x, drag strip or track on the weekend.

Macland 06-13-2011, 01:41 PM Awesome man. If you get in on it we'll have 11 to go to get the order started.
Arthrogrian19 06-13-2011, 03:52 PM ^^^Done deal. Signed up for front mats and the cargo liner. I already have two sets of mats for the Forester. :p

Awesome man, I can't believe recruiting actually worked haha.

Indeed! I'm actually very familiar with the WeatherTech name, as they're quite popular amongst Forester owners. Our Xterra came with only the carpeted mats and no cargo liner, and the WT mats are a good deal at the group buy price. :)
DirtyJerseyJohnny 06-13-2011, 10:06 PM Nice man! My buddy has a XT, its a mean car. I absolutely love it. Would love to own one some day.

No kidding. I had them on my wish list but hadn't made the plunge yet and as soon as this group buy came along I jumped on it! 9 More people to go!

They are very mean, indeed!!! The 0-60 acceleration of a modded FXT is on par with $100k+ sports cars.

Looking forward to getting them in the X! Just in time for trips to the beach and hiking trails. :)

We've just got to get the last few people on board and then we'll be able to make the purchase. If you know ANYONE who has an Xterra recruit them to the forums and have them get in on the group buy.
Arthrogrian19 06-20-2011, 01:37 PM Building up my parts collection for my next round of modding. I'm currently making 300 whp/wtq at 17.5 psi, with a VF39 (stock STi turbo). The new turbo I'm getting is easily capable of 400 whp+, with the appropriate supporting mods. I'm aiming for a conservative 350 whp, with an automatic. :) That's about 450 hp at the crank, after factoring in drive-train losses. ;)
Parts list for 2nd round of power modding:
***APS SR56 (turbo)
***AMR front mount intercooler (largest one on the market)
***850 cc or 1000 cc injectors (have some 850s, but might go bigger...)
***3 inch MAF/intake (might have a custom one-off made that I designed)

lol - I've designed a handful of parts for the shop that works on my car. As an engineer and CAD guru, it's also something I greatly enjoy. (Assuming you're referring to the intake I designed...lol)
