For all the people out there that haven't taken the X offroad, it was my first time and they are amazing offroad! Im a stock 2wd and I only had problems climbing up steep rocks where the back tired couldn't get traction, and a little cutting the wheel back and forth and I was up!

For anyone who doesnt know< the brakes on my X have been neglected for most of their lifespan. As I was up on top of the hill where the top of Cowskull was, my front right brake exploded for lack of a better term. The outside pad was worn all the way down, and the inside pad either shattered or disintegrated, either way there was no inside brake pad. So the pistons in my caliper pushed out into the rotor. This destroyed the pistons, and really gouged up the back side of the rotor. Because the pistons pushed out so much, the seals leaked and my fluid went everywhere, so I had no brakes at all save the e-brake.

All the pictures you see of guys kneeling by the red X thats jacked up with the tie off is mine, we were working on trying to make it driveable off the mountain.

Anyways, thanks to Kelly (RacerXXL) and Luke (Xterror04 I believe?), dave (DRB), a new guy named Greg, and a bunch of other guys who I shamefully cant remember the names of (please chime in if you were helping me out up there, Im sorry I cant remember everyone...) we were able to fix it up and get it off the mountain.
We basically bought a new caliper from a frontier (only thing in stock at advanced auto parts..) and also got pads. We had to go back again to exchange pads as we needed Xterra ones because of the hybrid brake idea the guys came up with.
The caliper hub from the Frontier caliper, and the caliper float from my X were paired together. The Frontier float would match with the bolts on the X, and to get the pads to work we needed an Xterra float. Anyways, the guys put the old worn out pad on the outer side of the rotor, and a new pad on the inner side, bled the system on the right side, and refilled it with fluid.

Then Kelly (with another guy riding shotgun, I suck with names...) drove my X down the mountain (seriously, that was awesome of you dude, and putting a bunch of money towards that caliper.... thank you. Taking it down the side with emergency rigged brakes was really risky there, thank you so much all of you).

It's now still sitting at Wooly's, but Vic (owners brother) is a mechanic. He is going to work on it tomorrow and install a new caliper and brake pads on both sides for the cost of the new caliper + $40 for labor. I'll then drive it home and sometime this week get new rotors as my right one is chewed up pretty bad, but it looks like I'll get it home tomorrow afternoon if it works out.

And thanks to dave and greg for hauling me back and forth to Advanced Autos, and just thanks to everyone else who took time out of the fun they could have been having elsewhere to sit up on that ridge working with a really bad brake problem. I cant thank you guys enough for that.

And thanks to drake for giving me and my buddy mark a ride home tonight.

But, when I WAS wheeling I had a blast!
Smashed up my bullbar on a tree, and got it on video (i'll post mine when I can, probably monday).
And as far as I know, Im the only 2wd that scaled the rock staircase on that mountain where cowskull starts/ends :D

That was some really messed up stuff I got the X through :D

It took me forever to find tonysX and then we attempted to go back up but us 2wd took a bit and ran into drake leading a group down the mountain lol. At nXm2 I'll definitely have 1 a cb and 2 a map of the trails or someone who knows them.

I will require you to be my permanent spotter from this point on! Thanks for your help getting through those trails I had a blast stretching the truck out as much as possible. Hopefully more pics will surface from those two trails I can't wait to actually see what my truck was looking like through all that stuff.

Morgan, your truck is beast. It was impressive to watch you go through those trails. I'm sure there are some sick pictures from tire level somewhere.

Yes that is where Xterror04 blew his front diff.. He was trying to climb a rock and it was very wet..

Aside from being parked and a few that Johann and Luke I think took, my X may be the least photographed. Being a tailgunner sucks if you want to be in photos. It also doesn't allow for any photos to be taken of the others. Kinda bummed about that. I think I only took 20 pictures at best the whole time and it was mostly the car show. :(

My own fault. I always read about awesome meets that are millions of miles away but I failed to pay any attention to this one. Shame too, I NEVER get to go off road. No where around Louisville that I'm aware of. Ugh..I'm going to keep myself from looking at all the pics. Makes me crazy...

this smyrna place is like 2 hours from me. Is this a place I can go to anytime? Cost anything?

Smyrna is where the Nissan plant is that builds the Xterra. Where we went wheeling was a place called Wooly's Offroad Park which is south of there, near Lynnville, TN. Located just a few miles west of I-65. Wooly's charges $10 to ride.

Yes they have a camping area and an old house with bathrooms and a shower. $10 per person to wheel and camp. If you plan to go, post up on here and see if you can get some one to go with you.

My plan is that once my X gets to the point that it needs to be trailered, I'm also able to buy the trailer and rig to tow it. ;)

I was surprised when Sean (Bluegrassen) pulled into this one. Too bad I botched his line something awful at first and cost him a taillight and a little love tap on his rear quarter panel. :D

Once I got him back on my original line... and we removed his trailer ball... he was up and over pretty easily. I never thought he would have had the clearance.

I put Frontyfan on the same line but the rocks kicked him right over into the same spot Bluegrassen was on and it cost him a taillight too. I just let Luke take over from there. :D

Aside from being parked and a few that Johann and Luke I think took, my X may be the least photographed. Being a tailgunner sucks if you want to be in photos. It also doesn't allow for any photos to be taken of the others. Kinda bummed about that. I think I only took 20 pictures at best the whole time and it was mostly the car show. :(

I think I have you beat. My cousin didnt ride with anyone else to take pics or videos of me driving all pics are from outside my passenger window or windshield.

The image shack account I set up does allow for video but I'm not sure of a file size limit. I prefer Vimeo now because they don't have all the ads and crap that Youtube has gone to. Plus they have no file limits or restrictions and won't pull your music off because of BS copyright issues.

I've got a couple videos I took and I'm going to try and put them together and upload it.

I also got confused as to what Dave was telling me when I dropped off the first ledge. I didn't see that everyone was turning down that creek bed and ended up just crossing up the other side. Wish I had known because I would have preferred that route.

Sorry Drake. That is all I have of that obstacle. I wanted to take much more video.

I think when we do this next year I will ride along and do video and pictures for a good part of the day. I have yet to be a passenger in any wheeling adventure.

No worries. I can't believe I didn't load up at least one memory card. I think me trying to keep up with 2 conversations on two different radios kept me too busy. Hell I was sending a text when we were making the drop down those ledges before you get to the RTI ramp. :D

I know Chuckmazuk had his hitch flipped upside down but his X is maroon and I'm pretty sure he had his front bumper on.

Ok since all us 1st gens are here maybe someone could help me real quick (sorry for the thread jacking)... There was a 1st gen with his stock bumper removed and his hitch flipped upside down... Who was it? I want to say it was a blue truck. And/or does anyone have pics of said rear?
