Hey guys, I'm new to this forum but have owned two Xterra's in the past 6 years and love them. My passenger side headlight went out a couple nights ago. No big deal. I replaced the bulb. Nothing. I then replaced checked the fuse. Was ok, but I replaced just in case. It's still not working. Does anyone have any ideas what it could be?
Thanks

first check and see if you get high's ( by chance did you touch the bulb?????? )then use a meter to see if you are getting power to the plug.... also dose the other light work????

The other light works. When I put on the high beams it doesn't work in the passenger side light (the one that wasn't already working) I don't have a tool for checking if the plug is getting power. ?
By the way its a 2002 4x4.

if neither one worked try a new bulb, i bet the reason the new bulb doesnt work is cause you proab touched it wile putting it back in.... halogen lights cannot be touched or they will burn out as soon as power is put to them....

buy yourself a test light. $10 auto store
pull the plug out of the headlight
turn on the switch
put the clamp of the test light on ground and check to see if you are getting power there
report back

Thanks for the info guys. I did both of what you guys said. The test came back that everything was working. Put the new bulb in and nothing. I didn't get it so I put the bulb back in put it in place and then plugged it in. Still nothing, so I pressed a little harder and presto. It worked. I'm just a big idiot and wasn't plugging it in completely. WOW!!!

Glad you got it figured out!!! You are by no means an idiot. Learning is all that it boils down to so do not be hard on yourself. Spray the plug with some QD contact cleaner. Once it dries, hit it with a tad bit of electrical grease.
