Let me tell a story. this week my wife and I went on a camping trip for our anniversary. Went sent to the Sand Dunes National Park and for those of you who don't know there is a fairly fun trail called Medona Pass that goes to Westcliff, CO. Any ways on with the story... On our way up the pass you have to drive through several miles of DEEP sand and about one mile in we came across a mini van that had thought that there all wheel drive was adequate enough to get up the road. NOT THE CASE AT ALL! Us and several car other appropriately equipped vehicles dug and pushed this van for about 45 minutes to get it at least out of the middle of the trail. This is where I meet Jeep #1. A blue Jeep Cherokee it had a Jeff and his fiancé and two large dogs. Due to the van getting stuck this jeep couldn't power through the deep sand with enough speed to get up the slight incline. So I ended up towing him up the hill to a spot where he could get some momentum. About an hour passed and we come across this same jeep again to find out that while we were cursing around the mountain that they had gotten stuck a couple more times and were so pissed that all they wanted to do was get drunk and headed off to find a camping spot. Soon after this time is were im introduced to jeep #2 (Black Cherokee)getting towed behind a Sick looking murdered out 4Runner. As they all passed i gave a friendly wave but was laughing up a storm inside. At that moment I look at my wife and say, "What did I tell you about Heeps"!

That night the trip was fairly normal for us camping. When we woke up that morning we packed up camp and headed to the dunes to go play. We see Jeep #2 parked a couple camp sites down. Then we come across Jeep #1 parked on the side of the trail in the deep sand about 1 mile from the base of the pass with there doughnut on ant tire on the roof. They wave me down. Turns out that when they were pulling into there camp site the night before they ran over a stump an tore a fist size hole in there side wall. And there doughnut probably 5 PIS in there doughnut, so it went flat the first time it got the slit-est side pressure. Ranger shows up and tells them that a tow truck usually runs $1000 or more. So I offered to drive them up to Jeep #2 to see if they had a full size spare. When we arrived at the camp site that Jeep was getting towed because they had pinched there transmission line and did not have a full size spare. So I offer to drive them to Alamosa (30 miles) to take care of there Jeep problems. Keep in mind that the Xterra had my wife and I, Jeff and fiance Steph, two dogs and Jeep #2's Sergio. We had some problems with the tire department at Wal-Mart for about and hour and half and then headed back to Medona pass with a new tire and some JB Weld for the transmission line. Everything went good from there on out.

Moral of the story... Why do I even need to say this?!?! Jeeps are $h!^.

You need to get two Jeep recovery stickers from Creepy and slap them on your rig. Bona fide rescues! :)

All that means is that the Jeep drivers were very unprepared and inexperienced for the situation that they were in.
As someone who drove a Jeep for 9 years, I can tell you that if you owned a Wrangler in the summer for a month, you would be in love. Jeeps have their short-commings, as all vehicles do, but they are also very capable durable vehicles (with the exception of the Dana 35.)
And for god's sake do a little research on how to use there, their, and they're before writing another essay. Haha

Most Excellent Story. Good on you for helping everyone out.

Did any of the Jeep owners comment on your X ?

I think the moral of the story should be: Donuts are only good for eating, not for trail riding.

True statements!

My buddy has a wrangler and i try to steal the keys as often as I can when it's warm.

And to the D35, slicing up your thumb pads on spacers while installing a LSD and regering it will make you LOVE that diff!!!
