Hi,
I was thinking to have higher sidewall of the tire by reducing the wheel size.
so will it be possible to have 15 inch wheels on my Xterra without having problem? i have noticed that the braking system is really close to wheel. so wondering if that gonna fit at all.!!

My '00 X has 15" stock rims, so I don't see how that would be a problem on a first gen. Are you talking about a 2nd gen X?

it's a 2nd gen and no, 15" wheels will NOT fit. now, if you use a 1.5" spacer, no one really knows. no one has done it. or at least, has posted it up yet.
although, if you are going to use a spacer anyway, you might as well get an adapter. something that will let you go from 6x4.5" setup to a more normal and affordable 6x5.5" setup. then you can run pretty much any 6lug truck wheel.

15" wheels won't work for the 2nd Gen. Instead, put 285s on it, and you'll have a taller sidewall.
Yes, the 285s will fit a stock 2nd Gen Xterra with just the "melt mod".

i think figuring out what is the best spacer might be a headache. anyway, i will check techically if that would work.
putting on 285 is really a good idea. i will keep the stock wheels as well as the desired sidewall.
thanks all

yes and no.
if you are using a spacer that retains the use of the factory lugs, then you don't want to use it.
looks like this:

now, if you are using a spacer that bolts onto the factory lugs and has it's own lugs that your wheel bolts onto, you would be fine as long as it's installed and maintained correctly.

Yea that's what I meant the spacers that still use the existing lugs. I haven't heard good things about them.
