Hello all, well agin I have a question about cold air intakes. I was thinking about purchasing one for my virgin X. And I was told by some gear heads I work with that Volant was the way to go for my X. One reason was it has its own box that nothing can get into (water, Mud etc). I also just thought ...Well I could just go and Buy the K&N replacement filter for my stock box if it will do the same thing. Any info would be great ! Thanks again Guys and Gals...

Not entirely true. The Volant is an actual cold air intake and a very good one at that. It's not entirely sealed from the elements but it is far better protected than your other CAI's.
But as far as bang for the buck goes, I would look into removing your resonators and then putting a K&N filter in. James (Soccerbrace) has a good write up on how to do it and it will save you some serious cash as well as boosting your specs and has a good sound as well.

I have installed one of these on my buddy's X. All I have to say is that I am very unimpressed. It is a cone filter in a box. A lot of hardware is missing. the instructions SUCK!!!! It is not waterproof by any stretch of the imagination. where the intake hose attaches to the box, all there is is some foam weatherstripping-ish stuff there, and you put the hose there. I was all excited about it and after all was said and done, I was just really dissapointed. My friend is not a fan of it either. Total waste of money IMO.
The stock airbox could be modified way better and is way more waterproof. Yanky uour box and break out the RTV. That is your best bet.
