Hello everyone,
I have a 2001 4x4 SE X. For some reason I am not getting any juice to the rear windshield wiper and also the Rear Wiper fluid will not work. Is there a relay for this? I checked all the fuses, there O.K., but I don't know about the relay's.

I'd have to say double check your fuses again. There's a 10A fuse, no relays. Check for power at the yellow wire on the washer motor connector. The washer motor is on the front of the tank, one for the back and one for the rear. The one for the rear is the only one that has a yellow wire, I think the one for the front has two blue ones. Anyway, that yellow wire is supposed to have power whenever the key is in the ON position. The washer switch actually just connects the motor to ground, the power feed is constant. It flows through a 10A fuse under the dash.

If there is power there, pull the switch out. See if the black wire is hooked to ground. If it is, try unhooking the switch and jumping the black wire to the blue wire, and see if the washer motor kicks back on. If it does, it's likely a bad switch. You start troubleshooting and let me know what you're finding, we might be able to narrow it down.

Here's the diagrams if you're into that sort of thing.

I think you are going to have to change your screenname to "Schematic" or "SchematiX" or something like that because you have a diagram for everything! hahaha

That's great though and definitely a big benefit to others so big props on the help you offer.

Maybe we'll have to think of a custom title for underneath my screen name....

I am working on making that available to everyone. Thanks for your help bro!

What I would check first is to listen to the motor when someone it turning it.

If it is running, you have a clog.

Thanks for all the help.
I switched to a new fuse and nothing. I checked if the fluid motor would pump but nothing there. If I am correct looking at the fluid tank from the back, the motor(pump) is on the left side. I'm thinking it the switch because the switch controls the rear wipe and the fluid. I will keep you posted.....

It could also be junk in the line clogging the nozzle. Try giving the nozzle or jet a clean out with a pin.

But Tim, the pump itself isn't working

Like I said man, pull the switch and jump the black wire to the blue wire. Or jump the black wire to the blue/yellow wire. That should operate the washer and wiper respectively. If it doesn't, than it's probably not the switch and you have a different problem to track down.

You're right. I missed that.

I would suggest the OP unplug the pump and see if he has 12V there. Then he could make some test leads and see if the pump is good by connecting it directly to a battery. The next step is to use a test light or similar and check that the switch is working.

question for you guys, i'm new to this site. i have a 2000 xterra SE and just randomly a few days ago the rear windshield wiper keeps running non-stop. it drains all of the fluid out even when replaced and makes an annoying noise while it runs. the switch on the left side of the steering wheel i've been told might have a problem but i've searched high and low. this seems like the best site i've found, any help?

Is it the wiper or the washer that runs non stop? Pop the switch out and unplug it. If it stops, you probably have a stuck switch.

Hello am new here but I had the same problem on my 2000 xterra the rear wiper would wipe and drain the washer tank till i found that just right behind the front bumper is where they happened to mount the tank. Take a very close look at the way that they routed the wires. Mine had chaffed the positive wire on the front bumper which basicaly completed the circuit for the rear wiper pump and wiper arm operation. It took me a while to figure out what was causing the same problem that you are having so you might check it out. I just can't get the rear wiper arm to acually clean the window. its like the spring in the rear wiper arm is not strong enough to pull the wiper arm tight against the glass. I ve tried replacing the blade but still wipes like s--t. Anyone have any suggestions? I have tried the tweek the wiper arm in the hopes of getting it to acually clean the rear window.
