I would like to get new 4x4parts UCA but dont have the money for shocks. Will this still work or will it potential damage the stock shocks. Should I just wait?

you should be fine with your stock shocks till you get the money for new ones. all the uca are really doing is providing proper allignment while the torsion bars are fully cranked. so i cant imagine the new uca damaging the stock shocks. thats just my opinoin. i would honestly call 4x4 parts and ask to speak to a tech and they will answer that for you.

is this for a 1st or 2nd generation? my opinion is for the 1st gen :)

Wrong... I installed my UCAs before I got my shocks and could hear the odd clank/pinging sound of the stock shocks over extending. I ended up breaking one before my Bilsteins came in. Also, the UCAs allow for proper alignment and also allow the truck to be lifted more. I sure as hell couldn't crank my t-bars as high with the PML than I could with the UCAs regardless what state the alignment was in.

The shocks for the 3" SL are the same length as stock....

So that makes no sense, the clanking was probably from another cause.

Travel is still up/down between the stops...not a big change.

Well, it makes sense that the shock can compress to the same length as the stock shock because the uptravel is the same... but the bilsteins definitely have more travel and therefore extend further. Trust me, the clanking was the shocks and I know I am not the only one to have this problem.

This is kind of like when people say you don't need longer shocks when you get shackles... sure you don't need them driving on the road, but get off road and they will also over extend and break. I have busted at least 4 rear stock shocks and one stock front shock from over extension. After I got the Bilsteins, I had zero issues.

The rears are a different issue though, as that's a live axle, and, the new shackles give more droop, so the shocks do become the limiting factor.

The front IFS means the arms go up/down between the stops...and, the new UCA DO increase the droop up front, due to the shape, but, the shocks are so far inboard, that the extra length to reach is still within their range.

Now, its possible that Nissan had a batch with taller shock mounts on the LCA, or shorter than the standard 9" compressed/13" extended length OEM front' shocks...which could explain a small number of issues....

Or that the OEM shocks started to bind, yanking or slamming the mounts, which can do the same thing, etc.

What length Bils do you have upfront?

I ran AC UCAs with stock shocks for a month or 2 with no issues. Just got my Bils the other day. I did mostly light four wheeling and never noticed any issues, it just doesn't look as awesome.
