I'm not going to volunteer any services but there are some very knowledgeable guys in your immediate area that can offer some help.

Don't let the job spook you. It's easier than you might think. You will learn so much more about your X if you do it yourself... with the help of someone with a little know-how of course.

Check in to joining some offroading clubs. They will have "mod days" where they get together and work on each others rigs.

One I would highly recommend: www.roninwheelers.com (http://www.roninwheelers.com)

Don't sell yourself short. A buddy of mine that helped me this past weekend install my body lift actually thanked me for letting him work on my truck because he had never done anything like that before. And it was my first major mod myself as well.

You will gain confidence the more you tinker with it. Start out doing small things like a PML (very easy to do), idler arm brace (another very easy job) and several other small modifications. You will get more confident in your abilities and start taking on more difficult mods in the future. It will save you money and will really give you first hand knowledge of your rig and will help you be able to troubleshoot problems in the future as well.

i would like to work on my X myself but wouldnt know where to start. I feel like i would have to take a class or something to get me started.

I wanna go started messin with my xterra but its just so nice :)

I was the same way. You don't need a class. You're in the best class you can get right here. Just read through the forums, ask questions and between everybody here we can get you started on whatever you would like to do. James (Soccerbrace) and a few others have some good "how to" write-ups on here for things like re-indexing your torsion bars to installing a body lift (which I studied quite a bit before doing mine and it was way better than the instructions that came with it).

Trust me, I was in your shoes not too long ago. I think my exact words were "I'm not going to do any mods to my Xterra until my warranty expires in 2009". That had a lot to do with the fact that I wasn't sure myself of how to go about doing them either.

Look at my signature... it's nothing great but everyone one of those mods I did myself and mostly by myself with only the help from the guys here on CX.

This is the best site to get info because you don't have the ego's and the assholes to flame you for asking questions. The guys here actually like helping out when they can.

I just realized something... what year X do you have? I've been blabbin' on about stuff for 1st. gens.:talk2much:

We are trying to have everyone add in their profile or their signature, the details of their xterra so that people like me don't get so confused. hahaha

the big signs like 6 1/2 feet tall like as tall as my X

the big 55 mph one lol riped out of the ground the like 6 1/2 feet tall lol

Don't fret on the rancho's. You will see a lot of threads here say to stay away from Rancho but it's not their shocks. It is their lift kits that are taboo. You'll be fine and if they do give out, then you can go with the Bils.

Thanks for the compliments. Yeah, having flex room is nice when you get into situations like these:

I responded to your post for help over on Ronin. I can help you out with the lift, no issues. In and out in one day, aligned and ready to go.

I'll also look over your rig and let you know if there's anything else that needs attention. And more than likely, we (at Ronin) will be able to help out in the future with mod days and the like. We like to help you, help yourself. Everyone has to start somewhere!

Also, don't leave your truck unattended around us. It's more likely to end up SAS'd if left too long! :D

Really? So where do I need to park mine? :hilarious:

See man... I told you the guys on here are the right people to be around. Go to youtube and look at the videos the Ronin guys have posted and see what you are getting yourself into. :mocking: They have some of the baddest rigs around.

Dude......

The best mod is patience.....

Seriously, if you have more than one thing going on at one time, you are destined for failure.
