Is there any particular reason you want to go over 95 mph? I mean dude you are talking about one seriously unstable vehicle to be running at that speed. Not to mention they run a relatively low gear ratio and the rpms you would be pulling at that speed would be very unhealthy for the engine.

That's just my opinion. And sorry I can't help you with your question but man seriously... rethink that idea a little more.

I dont know if a programmer can reset a governor (i could be wrong). I think you might have to have the whole ECU messed with. I dont really know about this kind of stuff but thats just what I have heard through the grape vine.

Now for the adult in me. SERIOUSLY.... how old are you? its an SUV, not a car. I know, I know, when you are on the highway its easy to get caught up in a follow the leader speed race behind cars speeding around, but this vehicle wasnt designed for that. Think about it.... you be the judge and make your own decision.

Not that I approve, but I figure you can make your own decisions. Just don't go getting someone else hurt.

Anyway, wouldn't the limiter be disabled if the VSS was disconnected? Seems like it would be.

I have an interesting question...Isnt the gov. working of the rpms? If so I have wondered about getting that rev limit bumped up when im driving on highways through the mtns. my x boggs down a good one and it seems that everybody can pass me. What my X does is reminds abit of a 4 cyl. automatic car (either it can do 60 mph. or its red linning and doing 90mph. except a car would do that on the flats too.) oh yeah I have an 01, 3.3 2wd.

I believe the governor actually works off the speedo and is controlled by the ECU. I could be mistaken but it seems like it's set to shut off the fuel at 94mph. In order to remove this, the ECU will have to be removed and sent off to be reprogrammed or whatever it is they do to ECU's.

Increasing the rev limit won't help you on hill climbs if you don't have the horsepower to get the engine to rev up that high. I know it sucks man but you're talking about a 5000+ lb. SUV and it takes quite a few ponies to move it's big ass around.

And again, I am really not condoning anybody altering the governor on these things. You are in a vehicle that weighs over 5000lbs. and has a high center of gravity. If you have to make ANY sudden maneuvers even at regular highway speeds, you are going to have some serious control problems.

UHHHH YEEEAAA
wtf would be the point of going that fast in an xterra?
unless it is SLAMMED on low pro WIDE tires and extremely stable bc its been professionally modded to specifically perform like this you have no business gonig that fast in this vehicle, and if that were the case you would not be asking this question

Uhh..I've heard of some crazy things in my day, but this one takes the taco.

Why don't you trade that in on a nice 300ZX TT? (A Z32 model) You wouldn't have to worry about a 95MPH shut-off.
