Hey all, I just joined up the other day. I'm out around Oklahoma City enjoying the crummy weather! Good to see a pretty active forum for the X. I've got a 2000 4x4 Xterra in that damned yellow! I wanted the blue or white but couldn't find one and was itchin for anything new.

So far mods are: K&N CAI, dumped Flowmaster, PML, 33 x 12.50 tires. I pieced together a 2" BL but since this is my DD I haven't been able to install it...stinkin stripped bolts. I also just got some 3" UCA and AAL which I talked about in the Suspension Section.

I'll post up some pics once i can get'm on the computer.

Hey you have to be very careful with that K & N, they are dangerous

Welcome to the club! Do you have a write up for the BL?

What do you mean about the K&N?

I printed off the write up, just waitin for the time to do it. It'll be easier once the weather warms a bit though.

Well, about the K @ N, if you look at right behind where the heat shield goes, you will see 3 plugs. The heat shield MIGHT rub up against that. It will rub against your alternator ground wire. You should just discard your alternator ground wire. My old FIPK, ate through my ground wire and I am more worried about an electrical fire more than anything.

Just remove your alternator ground wire completely to eliminate the problem

Welcome from Tulsa!!!

I think we are the only 2 OK X owners...

A couple of the X sitting dirty in the parking lot. Kind of hard to go wheelin in OK. OUMOOSE I know what you mean. I saw one X hear that looked like they may take it out but they just gave me a dirty look...so I guess not. Hopefully I'll be able to go on some runs this summer. I've heard of three places to wheel in OK and all were too far to wheel by myself.

Json, I didn't have to cut any plastic, probly because I took some off but I don't know. I just did the PML, brought it to the tire place and had to take one rim off at a time. They wouldn't mount them because they said they wouldn't fit and I said that's for me to decide. I still had to roll one rim at a time so they could mount the tire on the rim and put it back on the X in the parking lot. It did only cost $10 for all mounts and balances though! :)

I also used that Herculiner stuff on the bumpers but didn't do multiple coats cause it was damn cold. Due to remounting my front bumper during a hangover attack it sits a little messed up...it's okay though, my head thanked me later.

i dont know like i said i have 33"s and it took alot of work to get them not to rub..... also i had a set of boggers in the garage that were 31x12.5x15 and they looked alot and i mean alot wider than the tires you have..... if you can, can you take a pic of the sidewall so we can make sure you have what you say you have.... LOL like i said its just hard to believe........ here is a pic of mine with a 3" SL with 33"s

I know what you mean about cold. My buddies and I put my body lift on yesterday and it only got up to 38 I believe.

But your X looks good though. What Calmini components do you have? I saw the sticker is why I ask.

IDK man. I swear Im not questioning your intelligence, but those pics are....well....I just don't know.

Are you sure they're 33"? If so, are you sure you only have a PML?

Please don't be mad, Im really not trying to be rude. Something just doesn't add up for me.

IDK, I just compared your pics with json's and maybe you're right. That said, you don't rub? haha.

They look like 33" to me.....

Did you take a look at the FIPK?

iExploreX
02-24-2008, 11:04 PM
Yeah, the more I look at it, they do look like 33".

I still can't believe you don't have any rubbing issues......

json3904
02-24-2008, 11:04 PM
FIPK????? what do you mean.... and if they are 33"S then he has more than a PML...... there is no way you can fit them without at least a 3" lift, i know cause i have them and they were hell comming home befor i trimed what i had to trim..... now if they are 33"S and he really only has a PML then wow somthing is diffrent between the 1st gen X...... im not trying to cause any problems just trying to figure it out.....thats why i asked for some more pics....

Huhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh............

Im really on the fence on this one. They do kinda look like 33". However he has about the same clearance as me and I have 31" with a PML.

Something is up. Somewhere, something is up.

PS - James, did you get my PM bro?

They're 33's but I'll take a picture when I get home this afternoon since it seems hard to believe. I have the Calmini shackles in back and was bored off my ass without any money so I just put the sticker they sent on. I can also take pictures of the K&N, the Flowmaster, the shackles...iExploreX, not mad here, slightly annoyed but not mad. I'll post the pic tonight.

It really is just a PML, and if it for some reason had AAL and 3" UCAs that just look like stock I'm gonna be very disappointed when I get mine in later this week/early next.

dudes
he took those bumper side peices off, i saw jason still has em
thats why he dosent rub, in fact he took more off than that looking at it i see the plastic trim around the wheel well is gone as is the plasrtic on the rear of the fender
thats why he didnt have to trim, cuz he took off all the parts you dudes trimmed, thats also why the look smaller than 33 in the front, bc the space around the tire is bigger

eagle eye obsevations FTW!!!

and welcome to the club buddy!

Yeah Ricer(Dustin, right?), I saw and took that into consideration too. Im actually not talking about rub there. Im talking about full compression and some turn rub.

Sorry your annoyed Noish. You just have to understand this set up is a bit of a no-no, of sorts, in the X world. The fact that it seems to be working for you is a bit strange and intriguing to some of us ;)

We'll get through this. I promise. hahaha

Ricer-X
02-25-2008, 11:33 AM
there's nothing no-no about it to me
absolutely nothing wrong with how he did it
the only reason peeps were questioning his setup was bc they didnt see how it was physically possible

iExploreX
02-25-2008, 11:35 AM
Thats my point. I don't mean you not allowed to do it. I mean its supposedly impossible to fully function with it. SUPPOSEDLY, you can't run 33" with a 3" suspesion lift due to full compression rub.

02-25-2008, 11:35 AM
Oh its not a big deal to me. I'm annoyed when I wake up to an alarm clock...every day of my life...:usuck: I'm not taking this as a direct insult or anything. More of an indirect insult...over the internet...:mocking:

I know it's a no-no. That's what I was told when I asked about it over a year ago, I think on XterraOwnersClub. I did it anyways cause I was gonna get the parts for the 2" BL. I just never put it on because we started it, ran into a small problem, looked at the half gone 24 pack and realized we could play guitar easier and put my bumper back later...which is where the hangover and bumper not sitting right come in.

If I go over say a speed bump with my wheels turned it rubs, it's just lucky for me that OKC is flat and I never run into anything that I can't take straight on unless I'm going over a curb cause I turned into the wrong parking lot at Mazzio's. If I were to take this out into some good wheelin the way it sits it'd be a bad idea.

i was looking at the functionality of the 33"s and since you talked about it rubbing when going over a curb, and if you hit some trails like the ones here in Texas you would proab rip out the fender well.. LOL just as long as you know that and no your limits i don't see a problem with it... LOL ( like i had any say so in the matter LOL LOL ) hope fully nobody will read the first couple of posts and think they can wheel there X only with a PML and 33"s and not tear up there X we will all be in good shape..... LOL

actually...I don't. I barely know bout these Okie boys. Moved here couple years ago from Reno, NV and everyone I know here aint been here more than three years. Aside from drivin through Amarillo I still havent been to Texas. All I know is it was rough learning places did actually have a closing time and watered down beer gives a worse hangover than the good stuff...Oh and this OK TX rivalry...just don't rip off my testicles please...OU won and our girls are hotter (just because I haven't had a comparison)
:boxing:

json it'll hopefully be alright, more broken suspensions lead to more ppl SASing their X which leads to higher demand more parts and lower prices for poor folk like me!

json3904
02-25-2008, 06:45 PM
so how far is OKC from amarillo????? i will be moving up there in the next couple of years.... all my family live up the panhandle...... ( amarillo, canyon, and fritch ) maby one for these times i am up there we could hang out and if its not that far of a drive for you we could hit the river..... there are alot of diffrent trails out there just waiting for a X to hit them up... LOL

I'm down for a trip, its been killing me not wheelin the X even though I need to finish it before I do. I doubt it'll be like my old Yota, but it should prove to be a new rush with my gained rolling fears

Drake

I think you are going to be really surprised by what the X can do. I know even bonestock mine really wow'd some people and even wow'd a fellow X owner as well.

They are a lot more capable than people give them credit for. I know when I first got mine, I had no idea they could handle so much.

Noish
02-25-2008, 09:32 PM
As long as it stays out of heavy rocks I'll be happy. We had the Moon Rocks out of Reno and I smashed my truck up bad out there. It also inspired some sawzall art with my bed and fenders. My X is too pricey for that...until I get one dent in it, then game on.

I hope global warming picks up just enough to be able to camp comfortably all year long. Gotta find the sweet spot

All of the photos on this trip were of my X when it was bonestock.

There's another thread, I think called Coal Creek Round 2 in the "Show and Tell" section that has pics and vids of my X when I only had the PML done.

Yup, good old tires. I got two of them for $40 a piece cause they were shipped by accident. Can't beat that for brand new 33s
