Hey all, I've got a 2000 X 4x4 with a PML and some 33" tires. I just bought the 3" AC UCA and AAL from a guy on Xterraownersclub and was wondering if there's any write ups to install these. I thought I'd seen one before but cannot find it now.
I'll also be installing a Calmini idler arm brace. I just want to make sure I don't start taking things apart only to find out I didn't cover all bases. Thanks!

The idler arm brace is straight forward. If you want to install today, I would advise against it.
You need new eccentric washers and camber bolts to. you can only get those from the dealer.
IMO, buy yourself a pickle fork and longer hardware including lockwashers, nylocks and loctite for the ball joint hardware.
Start spraying the bolts with PB Blast now!

Okay, so I called Nissan and they told me I needed part#s
54580-3SAM400 Qty 4 @ $14.01 ea.
&
64559-2SAM300 Qty 4 @ $4.82 ea.
I may have gotten the prices swapped, but does this sound like what I need? I want to make sure before I waste $90
Thanks!

I want to add that you do not need to wheel your rig without that IA brace and running 33" tires. That is highly risky. My buddy who has an '03 took his wheeling after he added his 33's and trashed his steering within the first 5 minutes.

I'm hopefully also gonna be adding a HooHaa centerlink to the mix in a couple months

Yeah, that sounds about right. Expensive, but right. That is about what I paid. If you have any questions while you are in the middle of doing it, PM me your # and I will call you. -James

Thats awesome your running 33's. I have a PML and I can only low 32's and still trim. How did you run 33's. Extensive trimming? That 3" AC UCA and AAL should be sweet bro there are many run thru's that exist it should be easy to find one. I am sorry that I could not provide better information.

I took off the front plastics. Here's a pic if I uploaded it right. They'll rub a little if I'm on a big bump with the wheels turned just about all the way. They're not nearly as bad as most other people seem to have it, but remember its only been street driven like this also.

Hey here's a noob question for ya, I have seen a lot about the Idler Arm Brace but I'm not sure I understand what it does for you... I don't know if this is something that I need to move up on my list of stuff to get. Thanks.

is that your x in your avatar?
the idler arm is the weakest link in the xterra's steering, and pretty damn weak at that
if you wheel then its worth every penny, you bust that idler arm and you are pretty well out on the trail
i recommend a hoohaa centerlink to go along with that IAB then you really shouldnt have to worry about your steering when you wheel hard

The brace/gusset is a steel plate that mounts around your IA and reinforces the linkage. Look inside of your passenger side wheel well at the linkage there and you will see it and understand what we are talking about. You can pick one up from AC, Calmini and Total Chaos and all for around $28. I say go with TC personally because it's a solid plate vs. an L-bracket design like AC's and you've heard the horror stories about Calmini's customer service.
I'm really trying to push TC business because I've been corresponding with one of their reps and really trying to get a push for more Xterra products. The guy is on our side and one of the big guys of TC is an xterra owner himself. I'd really like to see them expand their line into some standard UCA's and more armor options.

Yeah thats my X. I haven't done too much with it yet. Thanks for the info on the idler arm. I have heard about the weak steering components on the X.
