Looking to replace the factory single CD with a factory 6-CD changer. Anybody know part #s?? I'm watching a couple on e-bay..are they direct change or will the wiring have to be adapted?? Thanks!! PS-- the ones on e-bay are 28185-7Z500, 28185-9Z600...??

Shoot good question. WHat year is your X? Please add it to your location or in your signature.
I think that you MIGHT have a built in harness for it. I can't imagine it would be too much different than your existing stereo. It probably is just a plug in. The plug that goes to the back of the stereo might be different, otherwise you could just splice the wires. Simple stuff.

Just a head's up before you buy the OEM 6-disc. Know that they will NOT play mp3 formats. I have the Rockford Fosgate factory 6-disc and as soon as I can afford it, I'm going with something else because all of my music now is mp3 and it sux not being able to listen to any of it when I'm driving.

Maybe another question is, are the NEWER RF 6 disc changers compatible with the Gen 1 X's. I just got my 08 X-OR on Saturday, and though I have NOT tested it, it says right there on the faceplate: MP3/WMA. So the ones coming out in the latest X's are compatible (or at least supposed to be).

Good question. My guess would be no but it would be worth checking in to. Not sure where to look though.
Shop on crutchfield.com. You may find an aftermarket head unit cheaper than the oem RF systems.

the oem cd player will play mp3's only if they are burned the right way..... you have to make a audio cd not a mp3 cd..... if you know what i mean.... if not i will try to explain, a audio cd only allows you to burn up to 80 min of music ( between 15-220 song ) and the mp3 format will allow you to burn up to 140+ songs and the 1st gen players are not set up for that format..... now on my girls RF system on her 06 sentra says mp3/wma and it wont play the mp3 format..... hope this helps....

Yeah I know exactly what you mean. It just sucks when I have a cd that has every Jimi Hendrix cd I own on it (9.95 hours to be exact on 7 cd's), one cd that has every Red Hot Chili Peppers album etc. Instead I've got to break the old cd case back out and lug all of my discs around. I've burned mix cd's in audio format but it's still 15 or so songs at best vs. 190 mp3's on a cd.

Help!
I have a 2004 Xterra SE SC with the Rockford Fosgate factory Six CD player and it keeps ejecting ALL my CD's. Can anyone show/explain how to take out the player out of the dash ?
Thanks

well first of all you hijacked this thread...... LOL
but i will help you out this time... LOL if it ejects as soon as you put it in it is the eye that tells the motor to hold the cd in place.... i had a buddy that his indash dvd was doing the same thing and they had to replace the "eye" or at least thats what they called it.... hope it helps.....

There's no reason to spend good money on an OEM head unit. They're way overpriced, eBay or not.
More often than not, you'll find that the wiring harness are not the same. If I had a dollar for every kid who came into work with this same question I wouldn't have to work for this dealership.
